Did yall know that during the filming/rehearsal of the movie she had cracked/broken a rib during the scene where she falls from the trapeze and that the corsets her character wore aggravated the injury... the part where she hits that high note on "and forgive everything" and she looses her breath, that was her actual pain.
Nic also had a knee injury which I believe happened during a dance routine. She had surgery after completion of the movie. Unfortunately because of the injury she had to back out of doing the Panic Room.

I saw the musical last week and it doesn't have the spark like the movie has. Don't get me wrong the musical was good but it was way over the top and the spark wasn't there.
How would we know? We only know Kidman's Satine. Same as with someone else as Indiana Jones. We can't even begin to imagine someone else when the actor's job is nothing but to own the role they're impersonating. Maybe Hudson would have been great, maybe Heath Ledger would have been an amazing Christian. They didn't get the role - so they're not. *shrugs* That's, well... Showbusiness. That said - there are a few movies where I could see many people in the role that they play, so it's not always something - I hate that word but it fits here - iconic as Indiana Jones or Wolverine, for example. If an actor does their job well and the role is written just right - that's when you find true embodiment or a character. I'm just happy Kidman and McGregor work so damn well together.
