There's a common thread through all of these: they were all, as Brandon said, cash-ins, crass and cynically-made attempts to make money by riding the tails of a then-hot trend as quickly possible.
Yeah, I finally tracked down The Dark a while back and couldn't understand why any reviewer said it was any good at all. One thing you should have brought up was how the cops were all desperate to catch this "serial killer" but nobody ever made any mention of the laser blast damage in any of their discussions about the crime scenes.
See, here's the thing. Having a low budget is no excuse for not having space battles, since those were arguably the cheapest effect in the original Star Wars.
I want to say that I think why we like shows like these is (given that the storyteller is good, which Brandon is) they tap into the effect of listening to a story about something (a movie or a drunken night out) can be far more entertaining than witnessing the actual event itself. Ever listened to a friend tell about a party and it sounded awesome and hilarious but you go to the next party and its stupid and boring? Its like that.
Gamera. Gamera. Gamera is really neat! Gamera is filled with meat! We’ve been eating Gamera! Shell ! Teeth ! Flames ! Claws! Breath! Scales! Fun! Dr. Forrester is kinda of a jerk, And Frank is really dumb, too We have to take parts in these lame experiments But do we complain ! No! No! Yes! So we hi-Keeba all over the place And talk of a thousand days of fun Gamera is really sweet! He is filled with turtle meat! Now we have commercial sign!
I am a Gamera fan and this one sucked. It really showed the lack of effort. The Dark should have been better. Savior of the Earth was a complete mess as was Mystery on Monster Island. A*P*E is another simply awful flick with WTF visuals that had no reason to exist. The Shape of Things to Come is another awfully bad movie in which something happens but who cares. The Story of Chinese Gods is seriously confused with lousy voice acting. You were right that Bigfoot tried to be a G rated exploitation flick but didn't work. Yeah, I knew that Queen Kong would be here. Starcrash 2 deserves this dubious honor
From what I remember that gamera movie The studio was closing in on bankruptcy. Play me Adam make a lot of money in the box office can afford to spend a lot

I just realized you got to 100 with no Al Adamson movies! Please consider reviewing 1971's classic drive-in gift, "Dracula vs. Frankenstein", starring 45 year old hippies, a bloated Lon Chaney Jr. who makes Richard Boone look sober, and an acting cameo by the publisher of Famous Monsters of Filmland, Forrest J. Ackerman! Also, Dracula has a 'fro, speaks with an echo pedal, and has a ring that shoots LIGHTNING! Bram Stoker missed SO many opportunities!
HEY!! I loved "Meet the Spartans"! I love putting it on whenever I want to annoy guests. That movie drives me niece crazy, and I love to watch her reactions to it.
you should do Rock and Rule. it's an 80's animated film made in Canada with anthropomorphic rats trying to stop an evil Mick Jagger knock off rat from raising a demon from hell at a heavy metal concert. I can't make this s*** up lol. it also has music by Cheap Trick Debbie Harry from Blondie Earth Wind & Fire Lou Reed and a few others. I think it's right up your alley since its an animated movie that actually doesn't suck ass futures some pretty Kick-Ass rock music and I feel is the definition of a good cult animated film. there are two different versions of the film where they completely re dubbed the main protagonist character Omar's voice which also makes it very interesting. even if you don't do a review on it if you've never heard of it at the very least check it out I promise you won't be disappointed.
Good old Nelvana... Love that movie, and I'm old enough to remember when the CBC version aired on television. The "redub" was for the U.S. theatrical release.
So can you do a review of The Return of Godzilla (1984) Frankenstein conquers the world (1965) From beyond (1986) The Outing (a.k.a the lamp) (1987) or Planet of Dinosaurs (1978)?
I agree. I never followed or watched Gamera movies. I've always been a Godzilla fan instead....I've even seen a few Mothra films as well....but yeah, Godzilla is more my jam.
Just lay off the other Night of the Demon. Or if you prefer, Curse of the Demon with Dana Andrews. Although, the title demon does have those sausage-ie fingers...
I would love a review of "Who Killed Captain Alex" its a weird Ugandan movie made on a budget of 200 dollers en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Who_Killed_Captain_Alex%3F
Star Crash is awesome. As for Escape from Galaxy Three (I'm _never_ calling it Star Crash), trust me, skip it. Not worth the time and energy tracking it down.
I really do like the 'queenie for my weenie' line. But like I said when you reviewed it, I like it in a 'written by a five-year-old' sort of way. It still has NO business in a professionally made movie, and certainly wouldn't be enough to get me to watch the rest of it. It would make a pretty funny joke ringtone though.
Brandon, if you want an easy target you should review a movie from 1986 called Breeders. Weird as hell, filled with bad acting and stereotypes, lots of pointless nudity and gore, and was made by Tim Kincaid. In other words, right up your alley.
Tim Kincaid´s non-pornographical films are insane. Have you seen Robot Holocaust or The Occultist? Neither an LSD trip may overcome all the shitty madness inscribed in both films. So, great suggestion. I´d add some of Gdfrey Ho as RoboVampire
Ah, what things I would do to get a Kincaid Month. Four movie reviews, a new one every week. Starting with Mutant Hunt, moving into Breeders, and finishing off with Robot Holocaust and The Occultist. And possibly a special about how he got into directing horror movies after being known for hardcore gay porn. And then going back to it.
You scared me with Night of the Demon. I was worried you were going to trash the Jacques Tourneau classic with Dana Andrews. I had no idea there were so many movies with that name on IMDB
yo brandon.. yeah I like this vid... you was keeping it real & speaking off the dome, non scripted.. yeah I'm def looking forward to top best list... people sleep on a lot of these pop culture, & b-type movies, but shit, some of those b better than the Hollywood A-list shit... feel me?

There's a common thread through all of these: they were all, as Brandon said, cash-ins, crass and cynically-made attempts to make money by riding the tails of a then-hot trend as quickly possible.
You should do an Uwe Boll month. There's a lot to choose from there.
Hope there's a nostalgia critic crossover with one of those... also featuring spoony and linkara if it can somehow be done?
Uwe boll is he who shall not be named
@@victorm152 I think that's highly unlikely due to the Channel Awesome controversies. #changethechannel
How about an Asylum mockbusters month?

He brought that up in his review.
See, here's the thing. Having a low budget is no excuse for not having space battles, since those were arguably the cheapest effect in the original Star Wars.

Ok good good. No need to go crazy

I would so watch a movie about a landshark mugging random concert goers. But it would be better if it was an alien landshark.
Rich McGee with legs cause why not?

You KNOW the list is gonna be a cinematic masochist's wet dream when "Gamera: Super Monster" is only number 10!
FUN FACT: Queen Kong is considered a cult classic in Japan, and has been given a mockdub of sorts.
I am a Gamera fan and this one sucked. It really showed the lack of effort. The Dark should have been better. Savior of the Earth was a complete mess as was Mystery on Monster Island. I fucking ADORE Night of the Demon! I would personally love to see you review it!
HEY!! I loved "Meet the Spartans"! I love putting it on whenever I want to annoy guests. That movie drives me niece crazy, and I love to watch her reactions to it.
I Watched It With My Dad for pretty much the same reason!
Best movies list? I can't wait for that! I hope "When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth" is on the list!

Diamanda Hagan did it, but I'd like it and Cool World(with a LOT less sketches, I'm looking at you Nostalgia Critic)!
Christ, I thought that was me for a second. "Did I post a comment I forgot about?"
It's a GREAT movie.
Thanks for reminding me. I haven't thought of that one in decades.
You should consider the following:
Frankenstein's Castle of Freaks
Robot Monster
I'll add a vote for Night of the Demon. I'll also toss out Eliminators (1986) as a suggestion for the future.
Still waiting for Night of the Demon
I hope you make it to 200.
At 1:40 to 1:45 Brandon sounds like a Super Saiyain powering up😂
😂😂😂😂

100 episodes...4 years ago! How old is this channel? Great review...great channel. A fave.
Jesus, how far we've come. Sup Brandon! Been here since "The Land That Time Forgot". Woo!
A good film I definitely want to see you tackle is Valley of the Gwangi. That one's very entertaining.

Jack Hamilton I KNOW HUH?!
He's basically the Canadian nostalgia critic, or the Canadian cinema snob
He’s both

Night of the Demon?
YES PLEASE!
James Davies abominable is good too
Abominable is a great monster flick, it has that sort of 70's B-movie eco-horror vibe.
It's not exactly a competent film, but the kills are insane and that finale is all kinds of horrifying.
Just lay off the other Night of the Demon. Or if you prefer, Curse of the Demon with Dana Andrews. Although, the title demon does have those sausage-ie fingers...
I've had nightmares of the ending before! However cheesy the effects, the weird slow mo dreamy kills make it ultra skin crawling.
1:41 Wow It’s Me When I Watched The Lego Movie 2
fun fact, the later (awesome) gamera movies where directed by the guy who did "Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah, giant monsters all out attack."
not fun fucker
I guess that making (cheap bad) bad movies is a easy way to launder maffia money......... that would explain it maybe.
I saw Mystery On Monster Island as a kid and yes, i did feel cheated and even back then i thought the twist doesn't make any sense.
No, it makes sense. But it makes much of the rest of the movie feel utterly pointless.
AGAIN! Congrats on 100 episodes.
I would love a review of "Who Killed Captain Alex" its a weird Ugandan movie made on a budget of 200 dollers
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Who_Killed_Captain_Alex%3F
Tsuki Condor IHE did Captain Alex, if you're interested. I would like Brandon to review it too though!
I know Alex did but I will love Brandons own 2 cents
Tsuki Condor it'd kick ass if he did
Star Crash 2 as number 1 eh? I need to see that still, but I recently bought the first one, freaking love that movie!
Star Crash is awesome. As for Escape from Galaxy Three (I'm _never_ calling it Star Crash), trust me, skip it. Not worth the time and energy tracking it down.
just seeing your face makes Gamara's theme song get stuck in my head.. DAMN YOU!!!
congrats on 100th episode! :D
A review of 1982's The Beast Within, would be entertaining.
a movie that's boring and nothing happens
Blair Witch project: did someone called me?
No Country for Old Men: You rang?
Paranormal Activity: You rang?
I haven't made it past the intro as I'm typing this I'm preparing for Gamera Super Monster

I really do like the 'queenie for my weenie' line. But like I said when you reviewed it, I like it in a 'written by a five-year-old' sort of way. It still has NO business in a professionally made movie, and certainly wouldn't be enough to get me to watch the rest of it.

The best and most frequent part of the video "ARRRRRGGGH" Keep it up!
Here's a question for you Brandon, what are the most surprising movies you've reviewed.

Hey, just wondering. since you did the first heisei Godzilla film, are you going to do the rest?
7th Mandalorian Welp, he’s done Godzilla vs Biollante, so I assume he’s about to do the films after, too.

If he did Uwe Boll movies he'd be propagating a monster. LMFAO 💀
the description of number 7 was hilarious lmao
i wonder what this list would be like when he hits 200 videos
i bet things would be number 1
I was very lucky that the first Gamera movie I saw was Guardian of the Universe. Rented it from Hollywood Video and Gyaos freaked me out!!!!
