I have seen this ballet some time in the 80. I can't remember the exact year but I remember the feelings I had. So much respect and devotion for the dancers and John neumeier. Hamburg ballet is one of the best.
I had the pleasure and privilege of seeing this version on stage at the Hamburg State Opera in 1979. I’ve many times since thought of its brilliance and profound meaning. What a delight to see it again nearly 40 years later May I respectfully remind those who so enjoy 21st century takes on classic ballets, that John’s innovative , creative approach to this piece came first. John was and I imagine still is a pioneer of this marvelous art form. Thank you for making it available.
How lucky ... was it the same 40 years ago or did you see some changes in this version? I love this ballet so much, it is so profound and emotional. Love Neumeier.
I keep tickets for this performance.I did not get to the play due to a misunderstanding. Thank so much Hamburg Ballet for the video ! With respect and love J. Neumeier! Bravo all artists !
Wir waren gestern wieder live dabei. Hat auch nach 48 Jahren nichts an seinem Zauber verloren. Einmalig. Der Inbegriff der "Entstaubung" eines Geniestreichs! Immer wieder gerne.
This is an interesting interpretation of "Swan Lake", the protagonist's basis on King Ludwig of Baravia and also Tchaikovsky is fascinating, and a lot of the music order is altered to go with the new synopsis. In addition to orchestrations from Op. 72 for Piano like "Un poco di Chopin" and "Valse bluette", there are also some pieces by Tchaikovsky that are not used anywhere else, specifically at 50:08 (Act I) and 2:10:38 (Act IV). Do you happen to recognize those specific melodies, by chance?
@@rayboucher3690 50:08 (Meditation in D minor, op 42, n 1 - Souvenir d'un lieu cher) 02:10:38 (Elegy for strings in honour of Ivan Samarin) Why, are you planning on using them in one of your versions?
@@INOBT100 As of right now, no, I was just curious because John Neumeier makes a lot of interesting musical edits in his productions like in "Swan Lake" and "The Nutcracker".
Красоты в таком спектакле нет . Есть только умозрительная концепция. Теперь мне понятно, почему немцы такие несчастные. Они не ожидают от мира ничего прекрасного.
The problem is that the choreography underplays the stunning musical score, so for me it's a NO!! Choreography is everything. I felt like the dancers could need keep up with the demands of the musical score therefore the choreography was simplified. The costumes were drab, the set was drab, need I say more.
Beautiful this version of Swan Lake. John Neumeier is a Genius!

Оркестр местами стилистически играет Бетховена, а не Чайковского .
