I thought this was going to be a joke, but you have really done your homework and understand Hogan and have developed an impressive swing. Great job.

Just subscribed to your youtube channel today. I'm 64 and began playing golf as a junior in New Zealand around the age of 12. Played until I got distracted by girls and motorcycles at about the age of 16, at that stage i had a single figure handicap. I got back into golf about 20 years ago and play passionate recreation golf weekly with a few friends. Always been a big fan of the early golf greats since I used to watch the big 3 play with my dad every Friday night when I first got into golf. Loved Ben Hogan but at that stage, I think he'd retired. I've read his 5L book and probably watched far too many RUclips golf lessons. I'm very excited to have stumbled upon your channel and can't wait to take your tips to the driving range. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the overview, I have been studying your methods and teaching for the last year as a big Hogan fan. I have been able to apply many of your key principles and shot a 1 over par round last weekend. I play of 7. I was an international table tennis player in my youth playing for England. I am 53 now and the old school swing is revelation having wasted hundreds of pounds on lessons. Just wanted to say thank you as I have never played so consistently and can only see progress. Keep up the great work - I am "super excited" about my game and the future.

I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your teaching methods. You explain them in a very easy way to understand and I like the visuals of Mr. Hogan that you show in your videos. I'm a 1 handicap and have shot terrible numbers in my past couple tournaments. I was just given Hogans 5 fundamentals and love way it is written. I'm planning on revamping my swing to hopefully incorporate the steady and consistent power that Mr. Hogan has in in his. Thanks again for the videos.

    Dear Sir:
Good morning. Glad to see you again.
So sad that I have no any movement about my own MSE by learning Mr.Hogan's swing since two years ago.
In Taiwan, there is nobody teaching Mr.Hogan's swing style. Today, it is my first time wearing Hogan's style hat and I break 100 again in the course. And I am so happy about that.
This year, my goal is to break 90. I will review all your videos and Mr. Hogan's videos, step by step, leading my own MSE.
Thanks again for still being online and be my best support since I almost give up playing golf six months ago.
    Best regards

Thanks for sharing, keeping the elbows connected now makes sense. I just discovered your channel and so far really enjoy your delivery and content. Like many people, I am a fan of Hogan's swing and approach to golf but likely for different reasons than many. I find this swing to be very body friendly which is important to me because of a chronic back issue. Although this swing sequence requires a great deal of rotation (you refer to it appropriately as a "body swing") which is not typically good for people with back issues, the sequence is relatively smooth and controlled rather than overly powerful and jerky. I haven't watched enough of your content yet to hear you speak of the role of using the wrists but in my attempt to recreate Hogan's swing to date, I fire my wrists powerfully once my hands reach last parallel. I hope you will address the role of the wrists in a future video if appropriate. Thank you so much for the in depth research you have obviously done breaking down Ben Hogan's swing. I look forward to receiving notifications of future videos but so far I really enjoy and can easily apply what I have seen to this point on the golf course. Your delivery style is refreshing and you are a very good and easy to follow instructor. Thank you for what you are providing to golf enthusiasts and I wish you all the best in your pursuit of becoming a scratch golfer.

  • @randallkurzman2577

Christo, thanks for the great re-explanation of the 5 fundamentals, especially the rotation of the forearms, which Ben Hogan described as "supination" or "supinating" as opposed to "pronating". I understood the concept to some degree but your explanation as a "roll" really brought the concept to full understanding. The rotation (clockwise) allows a deeper back-swing and rotating back sets up the right elbow to come in tight to use the body as the force of the swing and supports the path and squaring back of the club. I was working this in slow motion in living room and can't wait to try tomorrow this along with the short thumb (which I think I underestimated its value) to see its effects but understand it now. Thanks much.

This is the best swing I believe I’ve seen you make. Not that the rest are bad. But that one is great, imho. I believe this is a few months old but it looks great. You’re right, he didn’t begin to supinate until he was on the downswing. This *fact* has helped me significantly as prior to watching your video & instruction I’d been trying to keep the back of my left hand flat & when I did, I didn’t have space to keep that club moving inside (or on plane). For me the supination occurs right before impact & it’s an incredible strike. Yesterday I was hitting knockdown 60 degree wedges off of tight winter rye (it’s still coming up here in Austin). Im watching other guys on the range & they’re laying sand all over the front of the tee, unable to get clean strikes. Eventually a couple of guys came by & watched for awhile and they asked, “how do you do it?” and I said “it’s a SECRET” lol and of course IDK the secret but I do know how the ball striking works. I did tell them a *key* for hitting off of tight lies, and I learned it from Payne Stewart long ago: grip the club lightly. If you don’t you’ll be skulling & laying sod all over the tee.
I haven’t had this sensation with ball striking since 1973. I was taught correctly but abandoned the *right* way in the 1990’s. I’m good enough athlete to have adapted to the Leadbetter style. I loved Nick Price’s swing & it worked for me. My index was a 0.7 and I was the 2nd best player in a 600 member club. In my view, and I’m not an expert or a teaching pro, the difference between Hogan & Faldo or Price is, do you want to try & control your golf ball & hit it with authority and an orgasmic feeling strike using your left side or do you want to hit pattycake shots, manipulating your hands and knowing you’re just throwing your hands at the ball? In my view, those are the choices. With this swing, I can control my golf ball flight & I can hit shots that are so pure they transcend my golf into a new dimension? I’d rather shoot 76 & be hitting the golf ball correctly than shooting 72 & counting on my shoulders to be on time with the club. I know I’m going to begin to improve & I don’t have to count on timing. When you hear these knuckleheads talking about “too handsy” & “the club is behind you” just laugh & know they’re full of 💩 & have no idea what they’re talking about. They like to talk about “only 10 degrees of hip rotation on the backswing, my goodness, that’s really loading up” lololol. I’ve rambled, but I want to say thanks Christo & Mr. McHatton, for restoring my interest in how it’s done correctly. I’m 60 years old, but I think that I’m having the most fun I’ve had in 40 years working on my swing. 🙌🏻

Yep. Its true. Respect to you for achieving such a difficult position for a righty. You must have worked hard. For the most part us righties struggle. hit some of the sweetest irons yesterday trying to mimic this. My driver is the hardest to master as my swing is steep, due to standing up (which I've just discovered) and therefore having to compensate. I feel 'cramped' when staying down through the swing and close the face, coming slightly from the outside causing a pull. But man, the irons from 5-pw feel amazing. Gonna stick with it and hopefully I can get that driver right and get my handicap back to a 3. thanks for the info.

Your videos about Hogan's swing are wonderful. I have used his fundamentals over the years to build my swing. I have tried to incorporate the upper body movements from his book into my downswing, but I have found it best to just use my lower body to power the downswing with my arms being mostly passive. I do release at the bottom, but essentially I control my downswing with my legs. I do actually feel that I am driving my right knee at the ball. I also think of it as stepping into the shot. It has worked pretty well my whole life, so I haven't had any reason to change. Also, I have a terrible Over The Top move when I pull down with my arms at all from the completion of the backswing. This is the major reason I let my legs control my through swing. Anyway, watching your swing and Hogan's has given me some great images of what the lower body should be doing. I used to have an overactive leg drive, but have toned it down quite a bit after watching videos of you hitting at the range. Now my leg action feels more controlled and I am striking it better, especially with the irons. Thank you.

I like it. Very simple to understand. I use the Swing Machine Golf system which is also a "body swing" theory/technique. Only difference is I don't cock my wrists consciously but let them hinge naturally. Then unwind with my lower body. I will need to try your right elbow connection and the unbowing of the wrisr as I am prone to the dreaded snap hook on my drives :( Great job!

I treid this yesterday, with mainly my irons, and i was caining them.I was 8 over on the back nine and that included a 3 over on a par 3.This truely does work.I was even putting spin on the ball, and making it stop on the greens.I have never done that before.I have never hit my irons like that in my golfing carrer, and im 60 years old now.Im playing tommorow again and will keep you updated. For those who are worried about it working, dont be just go for it.I never hit so many greens with my 2nd or 3rd shot.Happy days.

The right wrist bent, knuckles towards back of wrist move has just open the gates for me! Half power swings and the rockets are flying. Very important not to let your shoulders move first at the top of backswing. I found out by trial n error. Keep your shoulders quiet at the top as u go to the slot. Thank you for your research n the time to do what u do. Not a better feeling in the world when u finally hit every club in your bag with minimal effort. Just technique, the correct technique. I'm the first to say in the past after a good round that the next time out felt as if I'd never swung a club. Lol! Also the accuracy is there now n did I say the power? I'm 33 yrs old and with the driver, went from an honest 235 yd drives to an even more honest 275 yds! I feel like doing videos on you like u are of mr. Hogan. Have a good one and thank YOU!!!

Can u elaborate on what you mean by letting the shoulders stay quiet at the top?

    • @MiracleSwingExperience
      @MiracleSwingExperience  10 лет назад +2

You keep them supple, and don't engage the shoulders as the downswing begins. Feel like the right shoulder dips at the start.

Christo - you have absolutely rejuvenated my enthusiasm for this game. I was a collegiate player 35+ years ago and still carry a low single digit but found I was playing more off of athletic ability versus swing fundamentals. The main area where I'm not getting to the proper position is my hip rotation at impact (standing too tall at impact as well). What do you recommend for drilling that in to your swing? As an aside, I watched a Johnny Miller video on Hogan this morning and he made the point that his left palm faces the target at the finish, which he claimed no one did during his era, but he's seeing it more today

Hey Christo, I watched this video and tried to apply some of this into my swing and I liked it. I will continue to watch a learn from you. My question to you is what is you typical ball flight more draw or fade?

Man... what a great video. I am a huge admirer and student of Ben Hogan's golf swing. I try to learn everything that I can about his swing because I think that he was in a class of his own when it came to maximizing precision and power simultaneously. I had already known and implemented a fair amount of what you said in the video but you were able to shed further light into my understanding of the motion of the swing in the few minutes of this video alone (first one I watched and just immediately had to say how much sense it truly makes as well as thank you). You clearly have a deeeeeep understanding of his swing and therefore the swing in general. Honestly, your own swing is the closest that I have seen to Hogan next to George Knudson, whom I'm sure that you know plenty about and can see uncanny similarities in their swings the same as I. I am thoroughly impressed at how sound your swing looks though. And I know the only way you could reach that was to understand it thoroughly. I've read all the books and I've dug and I've dug and I've dug. Still a long way to go but your videos are going to help me. I am a 23 year old recently graduated d1 college golfer who literally turned pro a few hours ago after competing in the regional championship in Chapel Hill. We finished in 6th and it was because I couldn't make any putts. Much work to be done. Anyways just wanted to say thank you so much for helping me take the next step(s). It is unlikely that our interaction will go much further than this but I hope I can learn more. Can't wait to dig deeper and watch the rest of these videos.
All the best and thank you,
    Kelby

I've watched this a few times, and just noticed something new. Whereas most pros seem to bring the shaft over their shoulders in the back swing, you appear to almost have the shaft parallel to your shoulder line and behind your shoulders. That creates a far less aggressive, and far more relaxed looking transfer to the downswing.

Wow! Thank you so much for this 🙏 so frustrated with my swing and remembered reading Ben Hogans book as a youngster, found your page and yes!! My biggest fault was my grip and just changing this (short thumb lead hand and two middle fingers on the other) has helped so much 👍🏻🏌️‍♂️
