The Impending Intamin Renaissance

- I fully believe Intamin is gearing up to make another huge shot at the American market. Based on their history, recent projects, and a little bit of tragedy I think this is a strong conclusion to come to. Let me know what you think down below!

I feel like some of these accidents are on the parks for lack of maintenance like with both El Toro incidents and the Dragster flag plate. Also the drop tower that cut off the girl's feet. the park used way too thin of a cable. As for the guy with no legs who fell out, the ride ops should have never put him on the ride. I wouldn't mind seeing a ride like Pantheon come to Cedar Point. it looks so cool
Pantheon is my favorite roller coaster. I love that ride
I agree with you, and that’s why I think that though there has been accidents, they can return to America soon
I cannot agree more
There was quite a few overweight guests, drunk guest and stuff like that also. On the ride OP's to stop some of those people from riding.
Absolutely. SF amazes me…they put coasters in, let them rot until the next coaster comes. I stopped going to SF in ‘06 because after going to CP, I no longer felt safe on SF coasters. Having seen great adventures Chiller partially derail due to Maintenence putting the wheel bogies on backwards. When I heard of the last ElToro incident, I felt sick. Another strike on Intamins record because of lack of maintenance on SF’s part. Intamin is and will always be my favourite manufacturers. I love their coasters. Hope they come back stronger than ever
A world without Intamin would be so boring, repetitive, and bland. All of my favorite coaster memories are on Intamins (followed by B&M and RMC). Pushing the envelope has risks, and the insanity and thrill level of the coasters they make have risks. When you add in humans being reckless and general human error, accidents happen. I'm so glad Universal especially took the risks with them, because boy did they pay off. Intamin clearly has been working very hard to make their models even better, and I hope they did start a renaissance as you said!
Totally agree
Most of these accidents were caused by guests themselves, operator error or lack of maintenance. That says more about the parks than the manufacturer.
I don’t disagree. This video was more of a “why they have this reputation and how they can shake it soon” type thing
it's a shame how parks and guests single out Intamin rides to die on. Weird that the death doesn't spread to rides from other manufacturers, like it would if what you said was true and not just excusing a company chronically with blood on their hands cause you like their rides.
@@joemarais7683 Arrow has had MANY deaths. Disneyland in particular has had them several times and those coasters still exist.
The Second ROS accident was completely the veteran's fault, as he had threatened the ops with lawsuits for not letting him on the ride. He completely sealed his own grave
I’ve heard so many conflicting reports, but at the end of the day they shouldn’t have let him ride and let Darien Lake’s lawyers deal with it
The dude had no legs. The coaster was a lap restraint only.
How the heck do you plan on being held in with lap restraints when you have no lap?
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
Intamin has made almost all of my favourite roller coasters of all time. Millenium Force, Velocicoaster and Hagrid's Magical Motorbike adventure. (haven't ridden El Toro, but I'd imagine this would rank high on my list too!) like RMC is great, but none of them top those 3 for me.
El Toro are pretty temperamental with weather and outside temperature (pun intended).
So expect your ride to be a bit dull than expected, especially couple of hours after opened/reopened
Intamin even with the problems sit alongside RMC as the best in the business because they are willing to push the limits and only seem to be getting bigger and bolder. Velocicoaster is without a doubt in my mind the greatest coaster that has ever been built and if they can continue to bring that level of skill and design they will outclass even RMC. I think these guys have been in their Renaissance for decades now, they never stopped being at the top of the pack even with the accidents.
Skull Mountain is not a launch coaster. It has a traditional lift hill. You footage even shows it going up the lift hill.
Yeah, I was confused by that part of the video.
Yeah I messed that up, that’s my bad
1:50 "30 percent of her blood was alcohol" 😂 0,3% of her blood was alcohol lol not 30% Otherwise nice Video✌️
Yeah I blame my hs health teacher for fear mongering alcohol lol. That one was a mistake on my part
@@StationWait Happens to the best of us, keep up the good work :D
Came here to say this. 0.3 is still blackout levels for many people, and pretty damn drunk for experienced drinkers. But yeah it’s 0.3%. The thought of believing 1/3 of their blood being alcohol made me chuckle 😄 I studied biology so it’s silly to me, but honestly - easy enough mistake. 0.3 is very very drunk
Yeah, even wine isn't 30% alcohol lol!
Intamin has really made some of the best rides I’ve ever been on so I hope they continue to produce coasters. Velocicoaster, El Toro, Maverick, Millenium Force, and Superman are great rides. Still waiting to get on Pantheon, I305 and Skyrush.
A rekindled relationship between Intamin and Cedar Fair would be amazing. Intamin holds a special place in my heart, having been responsible for a handful of my best memories as a kid at Cedar Point in the 2000's.
Wasn’t the European zack spin found out to be the parks fault for modifying it?
Yes
They made Superman Ride of Steel at SFNE, and that is truly one of the world's very best Rollercoasters
Relationships between manufacturers and parks aren't as bad as you tell. Keeping a good and healthy relationship is essential for keeping a safe operation as parts are needed and heavy maintenance often falls back on the huge knowledge of the manufacturer. Seeing less coasters of a specific manufacturer does not have a lot to do with incidents or accidents, but rather a bulk contract with options for more, from major cooperations owning several parks. For example, we recently say a lot of dive coasters at cedar fair parks. This was probably one single contract. Besides, parks are always on the lookout for new revolutionary ride experiences, such as quick switch tracks and drop tracks. Manufacturers try to stand out on their products bus it remains a matter of competition.
Great Video. Sky Rush is still one of my favorite coasters. Top 5.
Not mentioned, but Intamin did build Falcon's Fury at Busch Gardens Tampa, which opened in 2014. For those not familiar with the ride, It's a 325 foot tall drop tower, with the seats turning you towards the ground once you reach the top. It was very popular when it opened, but a bit of a novelty and it rarely has waits when it is open now. It also is very unreliable but I don't believe there has been any issues involving riders. The safety restraints are very thick and seem to have multiple fail-safes so I wouldn't expect anything serious to happen.
My favorite Intamin is Fahrenheit. I love that little coaster soooo much!
I’m writing a script about Hershey now and I fully plan on saying how underrated that ride is
Just a heads up, a BAC of 0.3 means that 0.3% of the blood is alcohol, not 30%
I have since learned this, but thank you
I've got to say all of the coasters that really knock my socks off are Intamin. They truly make the most thrilling coasters. B&M makes nice coasters but they seem very bland in comparison to Intamin and never really seem to impress me as much. Like Skyrush is absolutely awesome!
Adrenaline junkies celebrate Intamin because of the often extreme acceleration and negative G-forces. If you don't like negative G-forces, you usually prefer B&M.
I think Intamin and Cedar fair need to make good on a relationship. My two favorite rides at Cedar Point ( Haven't gotten to ride STEVE yet ) are Maverick and Millennium Force. So Intamin holds a deer spot in my heart. I would love to see them rekindle a relationship with an update fixing Top Thrill. As much as I wanna see an B&M Hyper get put in at CP someday, I would also like to see a Hagrid/veloci style Intamin multi launch added to the part as well. Would work great with theming in frontier town... right where Snake River falls sits.
Imo, knock out snake river and cedar creek and make a massive hagrid’s style ride to expand the story of frontier town
@@StationWait Cedar Creek mine ride is definitely on borrowed time. Especially with the addition of another family coaster coming for next year with wild mouse. CP can definitely use more family coasters, but mine ride is just too mild.
Rode Velocicoaster last year and it is my new number one coaster I've ridden. I hope to see more launched coasters like Velocicoaster and Pantheon come to the United States from Intamin because they are so good!
You forgot about the incident at six flags Chicago in the 80's when riders were tragically killed off their first generation drop tower. Then incident quickly caused all their drop towers including Demon Drop at Cedar Point to remain closed until a full investigation was completed. The drop tower at the Chicago park was later relocated to the now defunct Geauga Lake.
It was literally the first accident I discussed, even showing footage of the ride itself
I heard a rumor that intamin won’t be working with cedar fair on dragster, but that cedar fair will be working with a different lsm manufacturer, the one that intamin used to work with, I can’t remember the name. It sounds like intamin doesn’t really want to be involved in this one, although I do hope they can restore their relationship with cedar fair. Velocicoaster is the best coaster I’ve ever ridden, and the extra safety systems that don’t allow dispatch with improper restraints shows they’ve clearly learned from all the accidents.
I saw that eltororyan video too. We’ll see what happens
Basically don’t ride intamin drop towers.
The Woodstock express you showed is not at californias great America. It’s literally 30 feet from the jr Gemini (wilderness run) at cedar point. Your video even has the cedar point watermark.
I know. I couldn’t find footage of CGA. Actually surprised that you were the first person in 2 weeks to notice that
What a great informative video! I was thinking this year that US Intamin coasters are so unreliable as many of my international friends love intamin rides in Europe. When I went to Cedar Point this year Milli broke down for the day, Maverick was down for 3 days and of course top thrill so intamin did not have a great year at Cedar Point. Great video
Let me guess, you went in mid July (13-18th range if I had to guess)
@@StationWait Lol yup! I have a vlog about every single ride in the park losing power. It was a Thursday July 15th I think
@@MandJGames Yup! I was there the Friday after you were there and the Sunday after that. That Friday was a weird day lol
@@StationWait Lol. Was Maverick fixed by that Sunday? I was so bummed it was closed as I had not been to cedar point in 8 years
@@MandJGames it did reopen. It was a rainy day, so I actually did kings island that morning with walk on everything, then went to CP that evening and walked on everything multiple times!
They may have had their fair share of accidents happen over the years, but I think every enthusiast agrees that without Intamin, the coaster industry would never have come such a long way so fast.
Accurate. The modern arrow basically
Thank you for not cutting the end of Pantheon 🐐🐐
I love the Intamin coasters I've been on and several of these accidents are maintenance/ ops problems, but "Quick switch tracks" that's an accident ticking time bomb if I've ever seen one.
"30 percent of her blood was alcohol", I don't think that's right.
I blame my high school health teacher
It's not right, .3 BAC means around .3% of her bloods volume was alcohol
You are correct. That would be self-embalmed. .3% is, however, 3 times what it takes to be legally intoxicated. I am pretty sure that makes the ride operator negligent for allowing this person on the ride.
Skull mountain is not a launch coaster. It is a dual split chain lift.
0.3 alcohol means 0.3 of a percent! And around 0.4 of a percent of alcohol is enough to pose a serious health risk to most people. So no, that person really didn't have 30% alcohol in her blood.
Yeah that one was my mistake
The video stated that Intamin waited a decade to install a new ride in the US after the Flight Trainers but that isn’t correct.
MGM Grand Adventures installed three Intamin attractions for its opening in 1993…a family coaster, rapids ride, and a log ride.
The reason I didn’t include the 93 coaster was because I couldn’t find any solid information on it. Even on Wikipedia it’s all “unknown”. The timeline was just coasters, no flat rides unless they were noteworthy
What’s next? One day that switch track is just not gonna switch and, in true Rollercoaster Tycoon style, everyone would just fly off
Looking at the POVs, I see a section before those where they have a brake system in place if needed (just like they have for TTD/Kingda Ka). Both would have to malfunction for this scenario to happen.
@@nellingwood2 Oh, yeah, I know! I was just making a joke!
+1 sub, this vid was great
Thank you and welcome to the channel
And next year, BGW is getting a quad- launch family motorbike coaster.
Yes and allegedly another intamin the following year. Sea world really paving the way for Intamin in america rn
Next time I visit Hershey park, I'm going to ride thigh crush.
Good thing people don’t pay attention to manufacturers, they only pay attention the park.
Parks pay attention to manufacturers though
these consistent uploads are a W
I actually recall the CA Great America drop tower (Drop Zone) death at the time, and with what was revealed I'd hardly say it was inconclusive (though official reports likely said so).
The ride operators had let a neurodivergent adolescent whom was prone to uncontrollable physical outbursts on the ride after the mother of the child expressed her concern and was convinced it would be safe. Trusting in the operator, they rode to nearly the top where the child, not knowing how bad being restrained would affect them, had an episode and was able to get free and subsequently fell to their death.
Afterwards the now common practice of safety nets were implemented. Those aren't meant for your phones: they're meant for you.
My home park has 3 intamin machines and my favorite is the one and only skyrush I look forward to riding it again 2mar
okay but skull moutain isnt a launch coaster?? it uses a tire drive lift but there is not a launch...
read the 20 other comments addressing this
U gotta remember though a lot of these have to do with the parks and not intamin
I’m well aware, doesn’t change their reputation
More like the impending "down for an hour a day and 1/2 days out of the week on top of it" roller coasters being built again, can we break back Vekoma more instead, there stuff works way better and it's just as good. There "hyperion" design was far superior to intamins, Engergylandia only went with Intamin for more to ride it and they still cut corners anyway should've just built the vekoma one.
You should go watch my most recent video in the manufacturers series about Vekoma lol
IMHO Intamin is the one manufacturer who truly Pushed the limit.
Best ride(s) I've been on so far was Veloci-coaster at Universal's Islands of Adventure with Hagrid's Motorbike Adventure, aswell The Mummy ride at Universal Studio's Florida.
Ok, as far as i know intemin coasters had like two big problems over here in europe, expedition G, and i think hyperion hitted a dude, also these new gen Intemin over the shoulder lap bars are fucking good... only have ridden taron with them and man, now they just gotta remove the Handles
Intamin, B&M, & Vekoma innovation? Wow, we are eating
Fahrenheit isn't a looper - it's Intamin's sole eurofighter.
That 2011 accident by the way was scary shit.
It’s a looper by definition
@@StationWait Do we consider eurofighters loopers?
Yes. But it’s not quite a euro fighter either. It’s really it’s own type of beast
@@StationWait How so? I'm not trying to be smart I like where this conversation is going.
No problem! First off, the only thing that I compare it to a euro fighter is the vertical lift/ beyond vertical drop. The trains are very different and there’s so many positives. Design wise, it’s much closer to a B&M than a Gerstlauer, but even then the airtime elements are uniquely intamin for an inversion based ride. It’s definitely it’s own beast
I really don’t see intamin having a good relationship with cedar fair ever again given their past. Cedar fair will use intamin to maintain legacy rides but I feel pretty confident saying new rides are basically out of the question.
Possibly, but there was a small glimmer of hope today that Intamin is working on the dragster work rn. We will see
Have you heard of Intamin's Tornado in Finland? It's my favorite coaster in the world hoho
Surprised you didn’t mention the heartline removal from Maverick
Thought about it, but with talking about an accident in 2007, it didn’t fit the flow of the video the way I needed and ultimately it didn’t negatively impact the ride the park way i305 did
@@StationWait great video man. I’m a fan of intamin > b&m , hope to see a comeback!
Skull Mountain doesnt have a launch...does it? Its been years since i rode it, but I'm pretty sure there is no launch. The first drop is pretty good in the back row though.
No that was a mistake in my script sadly
@@StationWait ok...sorry to call it out. Was just really confused for a second haha. great video though.
Really Good Video! :)
With Top Thrill Dragster’s accident, I doubt that Intamin will come back anytime soon.
@@floridamaddogg if I'm being honest, I'm not sure Six Flags should have Intamin rides. Intamin tends to make crazy models that take maintenance and the ride ops need to be well trained. I think Sea World Entertainment and Universal are much better fits, and I hope Cedar Fair realizes how good Intamin is again.
i’ll say intamin should not work w/ SF anymore especially with the new ceo of sf… they’re rides do better at other chain parks or independent parks & parks overseas
This was really thorough, I knew Intamin had a track record of incidents but I didn’t know all the details. I like your chronology with rides added + incidents to give a real history
Intamin is a company that I really don't want to see make a comeback in the U.S., Vekoma deserves that instead as while Intamin has pulled some Chinese knockoff level ripoffs in the knockoff Power Splash and their own single rail model Vekoma has been killing it with stiff that Intamin hasn't ever done. IMO they COMPLETELY LOST Energylandia hyper contest to Vekoma's model (that Twister ending looked incredible, that alone sold me on their version), not only that I still feel that Hyperion's layout progressively got worse with each revision. Not only that but Vekoma has stepped up their game so much, Guardians, F.L.Y. (easily the best coaster of the decade so far just by looking at it), Abyssus, Lech, Fonix, the STC, not only that but we'll be seeing the return of the tilt coaster in what'll (hopefully) be their triumphant return to the U.S. coaster market for thrill coasters.
It also doesn't help that Intamin's like Hagrid's, Velocicoaster, Pantheon and Darkoaster I find to be bad additions for their respective parks as they're already oversaturated with launch coasters (plus I can't forgive Dragon Challenge I DESPISE Hagrid's for this reason alone) and need things OTHER than launch coasters (BGW in particular). The last Intamin that truly wowed me was Taron, yet Vekoma would go to the same park and completely outdo them with F.L.Y. Kondaa looks good, but after what Vekoma did for Energylandia it feels a bit empty knowing that Vekoma could have probably built something better. Plus they seem to be going heavy into swing-launches, which is a trend that I want to die because I'm sick of seeing so many coasters using this stupid gimmick to pad out the ride time.
At this point I consider Vekoma to be the better company, they've consistently wowed me while many of the Intamin's have me questioning why the park's are getting them because said park doesn't need it (looking at you Darkoaster), are blatant copies of things other manufacturers are doing, while Vekoma on the other hand are killing it overseas.
Has Intamin done a multi-launch flying coaster with a unique and innovative loading/unloading system, has Intamin gone from making what is widely considered one of the worst coaster models (SLC) to making an amazing looking inverted coaster, has Intamin created an impressive looking multi-looper that doesn't use a launch? No but Vekoma has, they're underdogs to say the least and they've proven themselves, enough that I REALLY want to see a Vekoma giga, I just know that they'd be able to kill it.
Intamin is really only good with launch coasters now, maybe mega/hypers (ignoring that Vekoma outdid them in a head-to-head contest), Vekoma on the other hand has more to offer.
My literal next video (if I stay on schedule) is called “Vekoma: The Sleeping Giant”
So yeahhhhh I agree except for the fact that parks ordered launch coasters, you can’t blame intamin for that part
If intamin fixed the thigh crush trains, I think it would be so much better if a ride. Even the gp would like it more because they get to keep their legs
I agree. I got unlucky on my one ride on it and there was a malfunction so the lap bars didn’t release on the brake run. We got stuck for 5 or so minutes
.3 BAC means .3% of their blood was alcohol, not 30% :)
I’ve since learned, but thank you
While intamin is nice.. I want more mack coasters
All I got to say is B&M and RMC my favorite
Yes these longer videos are much better
I'm absolutely shocked that parks have continued to work with Intamin in spite of all of these accidents over the years
There newer models have now became more reliable and way more safe
@Cristobal Flores Yes, and Intamin has some of the best models out there
most of these incidents are either from the park/maintenance, ride ops or guest.
Skull Mountain is not a launch coaster.

intamins in god mode rn
Intamin, the best manufacturer in the game :)
Didn't a guy die/commit suicide on superman the ride at sfne? Isn't that why they have the restraints that nobody likes?
He died, i mentioned it in the video but not by name. That was the “this time it was a coaster”. That one is my bad and I realized after posting
@@StationWait Oh I see...Not that I want to highlight it, I think they make sick shit, its too bad this keeps happening to them.
Intimidating used lims not lsms with Superman
Link me to a source for that please
I’m so sorry it opened with LiMs but they were replaced with LSMs
You may want to review the video description for typos 🤣
I mean…. Was it wrong though
@@StationWait hopefully so. The recent USA coasters are strong. We want that trend to continue!
Fair fair
How do you not mention Kondaa (:
It’s not American and it hasn’t had any injuries
Good videos man
Thank you!!
Dragster gone. Their renaissance lasted two days.
Dragster “as we know it” gone
i love this vid so much
Thank you!!!
.3 BAC doesnt mean 30% of your blood is alcohol lol
I know
Intamin make some of the most thrilling coasters on the planet. But, honestly, if I owned a park, I wouldn't go near them. Granted, we haven't yet seen problems with their newer coasters, but given their track record, it's only a matter of time.
I'm seeing a pattern here... Large... Laaaarge... LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGE... I don't want to sound like an asshole but... hmm.... HMMM....
There was more children than large riders… HMMMM
The lesson to be learned is that being fat is dangerous, don't do it.
Yeah I’m 260 and I plan on slimming down hard this winter
@@StationWait all the best to you, keep at it. Winter is actually the hardest if you are less active because of it.
I love intamin 🥴
Damn six flags
