I"m sure this is a fine unit, but its weird to me that they daisy-chained the grounds to the RCAs and did not elect to take the grounds from each connector along with the signal wires to the main board via twisted pairs. Look up "ground loop" specifically that part that covers "ground hum caused by multiple paths to ground".
Interesting observation! Also what’s up with those push on connections on the power supply cable jack. Doesn’t seem appropriate for gear in this price range. Thought that soldering would be best practices
@@kenielsen i think what you mean to say is you see no problem with daisychaining grounds, which is OK as long as that doesn't cause loop in the ground routing. Ideally however all returns to the power supply should have their own direct path back to the supply itself Ground loops in an audio path will almost always cause a 60 cycle hum (50 cycles in some countries - depending of the frequency of the AC in the wall socket). This hum can be heard at the audio outputs. A single path of ground eliminates this. Having longer and shorter paths to ground can also cause DC voltage drops. You want it stable.
Another great video! In the Pass Labs XS series (preamp and XS-150) I like to see the Pass XS Phono. So if you have the opportunity I am looking forward to it.
Interesting. The silver things marked "Pass" in the PSU are actually inductors. Also, I think it is clear that Pass Labs hasn't done vibration testing when releasing these, or parts and cables would have gone flying :-)
It is unclear as to your knowledge of details within these boxes. Disappointing you did not share a more detailed description of what you were filming. Tragic as there is a desire to learn more about what goes on in the boxes.
The parts labeled PASS Labs are Inductors 10 micro-Henry they're not Capacitors.

I see no problem with ground loops. They are all connected to one single point at the PCB rather then 6 or more points at the PCB???

@@PeterGrenader correct 😂

Volledig akkoord, ik had beter niet het inwendige van Nelson's creaties gezien ,mijn waardering voor PL kreeg een deuk .........
They're not inductors - they're clarity caps.
Thanks
Personally I prefer Megatron caps.
HI FI buffs make a fuss a about cables, in these units the cable is not special just ordinary cable.
Dambuster agreed. Master union electrician here. Looks like standard thhn 16 awg. No need for any other kind of internal wiring.
Doesn't matter at all, it's 80% in the brain/heart in this hobby, not in the ears.
Isn't the same right side powersupply is missing an ic compared to left side
How does it sound? That's a lot of preamp.
welding flux not cleaned, omg
cut the crap man
I'd like to see a KR audio kronzilla preferably sxi integrated amp.
That's a hybrid amp.......

These are not capacitors ........µH means inductance !
clarity cap esa series relabeled 😁
A lot of money for not much ..... cheap comes to mind ... 😴😴😴
Nothing special
Looks a bit amaturish. Arrangement with seperation of power supply makes no sense in a preamp.
