- No Contest comes to you from deep in Oaxaca, Mexico, as the Corona Open Mexico serves up warm water barrels and point break perfection at Barra de la Cruz, for the first time since the iconic Rip Curl Search was won here by Andy Irons in 2006.
Stab’s Ashton Goggans is back to give you a backstage tour of all things local, from veteran surf-guides of the region to up-and-coming surfers to keep an eye on. We ride shotgun with event wildcards Mateus Herdy and Rio Waida as the two global talents hone their craft alongside the world’s best, all while putting on a free-surfing clinic under a sizzling Pacific sun.
Mateus and Rio wrap things up in the kitchen to prepare some local cuisine and raise a toast to another successful edition of No Contest. Salud!

A friend and I discovered a point break south of there in the early 90s while on a road trip to Costa Rica. We both broke boards our first session, and an old local fisherman said we were the first surfers he had ever seen there, and in his life. Such a magical region.
Perfection at every turn, what an amazing place
If it was before 95, we were the first ones, but we walked through the Hills. SO sick, we we're in barra when it was only palapas and no Road.
@@salinacruzsurfcamp It was in 91. We took a dirt road exploring. Then took off walking and climbing cliffs. We found a few breaks but when we climbed up one and the first set came through, we lost our shit. Big grinding barrels all the way to the beach. Wish we had more time to explore.

vibrant local community of surf guides who guard the best local breaks from non paying surfers. at least they did when i was there 10 years ago.

Dont go. Every entrance to the beach costs 100 pesos and in high season up to 500 pesos a day. just a business of the local families.

Don’t waste your time contacting Toro. My girlfriend (local) contacted him and after we set a date and time 6am to meet up he was a no show and told us his engine wasn’t working and to meet up the next day, same time. Next day arrived and not only was he a no show but he never responded to any of our messages after reading them. Total kook.

Yo can you guys stop having stab guy narrate every single second of a video. Honestly you use a kid's name in the title like clickbait and he has maybe one minute total of airtime talking and the rest is stab guy trying to get his 20 min of fame. Every vid now is just stab guy talking. If we wanted to watch and listen to Stab guy we could just go watch Stab's channel. Please create and brand Red Bull content. Rant over but deadass I love Red Bull but will unsub if this goes on.
