This is the best way to fix the pillar fabric sag issue imo. The fabric's eventually going to sag again if you decide to go through the tedious process of re-gluing it - not worth it on a 15+ year old BMWs
Idk why everyone’s so mad at this video. I’ve thought about doing this with my e46 and was curious to know how it’d look without the fabric. Thanks for sharing!
@BIMMER ZEIT I did this for all 6 pillars last year. You don’t notice the difference and now the headliner fabric hangs. Question: Can I just tear it off the same way? M3 e46 19 years
This isn't a fix if the plastic under the cover doesn't look exactly like the material covering it. A four minute video to tell people to tear off the loose material. What a waste of time.
It doesn't look AS good as a new OEM fabric wrapped piece would. But there is another layer of fabric type material underneath the layer that peels off, so it doesn't look too bad at least on an E46 with black interior. Tan or grey may not work - I don't know.
I think the E39 fabric is a bit more robust (as is much of the E39 build quality vs. an E46) so thankful I never had the fabric peel on my E39 pieces. But I agree with ya!
Ryan L you could re-wrap these plastic pieces with tan fabric and 3M adhesive spray to restore them. it’s about $800 cheaper than buying new oem pieces from BMW

The material was coming off my A and C pillars and I bought genuine OEM replacements online, from a dealer, for my 330Ci coupe for about $40 each. My local dealer was more expensive but no where near $95. www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=BD53-USA-10-2002-E46-BMW-330Ci&diagId=51_3733.
That's great but for one, you are talking about a different part number for an early 2002 E46. What you posted a link to are different part numbers than a late model E46. The time you purchased can also effect the price, BMW prices fluctuate greatly even year to year. The a-pillars I listed go for $95 each list price, $98 each at FCPEuro and $76 each at GETBMWparts. com
hey David. some would say the solution to saggy peeling fabric is to simply remove it... you could always re-wrap the existing trim with 3M adhesive and an automotive fabric of your choice. sadly the only other option is $800 in OEM replacement pieces (see my pinned comment for totals)
this is basically like putting primer all the wall and never painting it ... wtf . If you are going to do something do it right . SORRY DUDE ... but you did nothing but made it worst . non matching headliner and exposed trim . way to go .... lol .

I have light gray fabric glues on to white plastic so just pulling the fabric off doesn't solve the problem.
Ok this wasn’t a fix it was just ripping it off
Bailey Hebert see my comment below, you can always just get all 6 pieces new from the dealer for $850
No kidding, what a waste of time watching him peel it off
just fully remove the pillars and get some super glue and glue it on...
5 years later this comment is still based
I simply pulled it off and painted the pillar with black paint
Like your way of fixing things
Dude! Best idea ever! I hate that stupid fabric always falling off.
Vanessa Wilson just rip that 💩 off!!
Did anyone end up trying to glue the fabric back to the pillars? If so, what glue did you use? Thank you.

SuperSnotgun nearly $800 for New A, B and C pillars. Not worth it in any sense!
Yeah this shit doesn’t work if you have a beige interior, you’re left with a beige cloth with what looks like shit stains all over it

I just did this to the B & C Pillars on my son's E46. I am afraid to do the A pillars, but those are the worst looking.
Damn... if you got a son old enough to own a e46 and you look just 10% close to that profile... im hyper jelous of someone
@@DarthRevan12 I drink a lot of water, eat clean, I don’t drink alcohol and I stay active with my kids, animals and Pilates 😊
I was thinking of using 3M Photo Mount or similar spray adhesive... The fabric is just slightly rippled at the base.
I feel like an automotive grade may last longer than something like a photo mount. Let us know what you end up trying!
You may be right ! Temperature variance and all, we'll see...
I'm about to use the 3m spray on mine. I'll let you know how it turns out
@@cryptolittle8854 How did it turn out then?
@@amana1480 it turned out great. Still holding good!
OMG!

Anyone know what it would look like with grey interior is it black underneath those or grey ?
hey Alex, give 'em a little peel and see 👀
Pretty sure it’s grey
Are there any downsides to having the pillars without fabric?

BIMMER ZEIT okay thanks. Great vids, glad you’re part of the ZHP Mafia now!
What was the point of That?
This really doesn't work for E39s, unfortunately. The pillars are an ugly yellowish color underneath.
computiNATEor indeed. I was thinking some good old headliner glue should work just fine, no?
Probably. I've not used any, so I can't suggest any.

I think the 3M headliner adhesive is a popular product to use
computiNATEor same with mine
