- Uglyman rocks the crowd at the Reggae Lounge in NYC 1986. The riddim is the Harry J version of the famous 'Sleng Teng' entitled 'Computer Rule Riddim' which was highly popular at the time, 4 riddim albums were released to promote it.
I was there!!!
I remember watching the video before, but I just recognized the "Reggae Lounge" off Canal Street. My favorite tune ever! I used to climb up the ladder to the dj booth at the lounge every time i went there (at least once a week) to hassle the dj to play "computer" and then straight to the dance floor!
25 years, 4 kids, & back to France later, I still love that tune and I miss those times so much.
I was a regular between 1987 and 1991. 285 West Broadway/Canal St. The Reggae Lounge/ Island Club. Big up Ras Stanley, Nutsman, Will (bouncer) and Stacey (bartender).
My all time favorite club.
This song was ahead of it’s time
I remember when this came out! Played it daily!
Sure ??
One of the baddest Sleng Teng cuts ever... Wicked
This is one of the best mid-80s LIVE performances out there... He just KILLS

I am just amazed at how well dressed ppl were for the dance, man all inna long sleeve shirt and tie and woman with skirts below their knees.
That’s how they use to dress to go dances.
ugly man is a legend in his own rights .listen to him in the 80s in guyana
The Reggae Lounge was my home from 88-91. Got shot up a few times, changed to The Island Club. Shot that up, and done. Big up Ras Stanley, Ras Larry, Nutsman, Will and Stacey.
ahsap...Ninja was originally known as Double Ugly before he was known as Ninjaman. Two diff deejays still
For anyone interested, the singing you can here on the track at 1:25 is Little John's cut on this riddim, called "Come Back To Me."

Original Spanish Town deejay!
Shelly Thunder - Small Horse Woman
Wickedest tune from a female DJ! My introduction to dancehall was her Kuff tape. A dude on his way to my house found it, listened to it and couldn't understand the lyrics or get with it. I heard "ya man a rush me" and I was hooked! The rest of the tape solidified my love for dancehall.

Richardood them 2 ate kind of the same voice. pampidoo said uglyman copied his style
Richardood *are
They called it the "rockstone" voice style. Pompidoo was the first to do that kind of style IIRC
Pompidoo released Governor General in 1984. Uglyman released Night Rider in 1985. So pompidoo was first
Bobby Greene true true
