This is nuts. the coolest part has to be that the big run isn't the main event.. it takes you to a giant, secret skating utopia in the sky. insane. I can almost feel the outdoors thinking about being out there.
I wanted to go there when I was in Montpellier but didn't have anyone to go with and the area seemed a little sketchy for a woman to wander around solo. So glad someone's making a video about it. When I was researching it online, I couldn't find much besides a clip from the local skaters.
The world-wide skate recession hit at the end of '79. By '86 it was picking up again. If you watch any of the bio vids of the bones brigade, tony alva or tony hawk, for examplethey all say this. I had my second chunk of skate years '86 - '90 and skating was booming back then.
@@trumanb4758 there was no 'world-wide' in skating at that time, cali-centric skaters calling a lull in local bowl and street style carving comps a 'world wide recession' for them maybe but like you mentioned there is the mid to late 80s which were HUGE
I was under the impression that it was early 80's due to the huge amounts of parks that shut during 79 onwards. It was not really until late 80s things started picking up again.
@@theskateboardingcrucible You are correct mate. Definitely the recession was the early 80s. from about mid '86 onward skating had a huge resurgence that lasted into the beginning of the '90s.
@@mulldriftyrI heard some people are wanting to clean it a bit and organize a big party around it. Love your channel bro! Keep up the good work In the '90s early '90s us skaters pushed for what all the kids take for granted today all the skate parks that we would have killed for. And we're literally getting our skateboards stolen from police for skating on commercial /private property Viva La skate!
wow this is super rad, definitely way ahead of its time. Would be sick nowadays.
Agreed! 👍

Such a unique place. The whole setup is just inspiring.
Someone had a vision, too bad it had to die. Glad you got to ride it
Fascinating. Thanks for sharing!
A ski lift used for skating in the 90s is crazy!! Super cool idea!

Imagine if that whole run was a Half pipe. Truly surfing thin.
Snake run. Basically a ski half pipe.
surf skating was the first version of skating👍
Agree! Need more of these spots to bring skateboarding back to its roots!
Great content. Ty!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Sweet bit of skate history, I think you meant the 'skate receasion' hit in the *late* 80s (you said early 80s)

Rename it in Max Rockatanzky Memory Park or Furypark and everything is fine.

Tony Hawk should redo it with his wisdom
You have à similar thing in the south of Germany, that i think is still open..

Definitely ahead of it's time.
Why wait for almost 4 minutes before you reveal even what country this is in?

skateboarders surely wouldn't pay for this though right? maybe if it were free
I’m assuming he did charge for entry, yet the place is enormously so trying to control who comes in and out would have been tough.
So RAD
