    Great video! I'm doing this exact job right now on my 2014 535i, and just took the upper pieces off about 30 mins ago. I'm not going to do a how-to on this since yours is so well done. Thanks so much for walking through, and glad to hear it worked out. I'll definitely be a new subscriber, and I am very interested to hear if the blower has been working properly after a couple of months now!

    That was a very informative video, thank you very much indeed! Replaced the u/s blower motor on 2014 525d F11 which packed up on me whilst on a driving holiday through Europe and a heatwave in residence! It is nice to have the windows down but makes conversation a tad difficult hurtling down the autobahn; Took me 2hrs to replace, going systematically through the video and taking my time at all stages. Lost one plastic screw on the dust cover but saved a fortune. Thanks Krowicki!!

    How did you access the screws from the housing that are right below the windshield? It’s almost impossible theres so little room to work and with a straight screwdriver you cant reach it. Any tips what tool to use there?

    • @Krowicki
      @Krowicki  2 года назад +1

      I used a straight screwdriver and went at an angle. It risks stripping it but if you do it slow and carefully you should be ok.

    Great video. I like to use numbered Ziploc bags to capture removed nuts/fasteners and makes assembly much easier while not losing anything.
    I get most of my parts on Rock Auto or Pelican Parts. I use the Carly app for checking codes, which is OK.

      @@mayphilips108 The smell went away after a while, and I avoid parking under trees because leaves get stuck in there and somehow get into the blower motor. But I still got the blower motor replaced anyways and the noise went away.

    Hi, I had the same issue and after changing the blowing motor and regulator it was working for 1 day and then stopped working again… Any idea why it stopped working? I’ve checked all the fuses and all looks good…
    Thanks

  • @bman2827
    @bman2827 2 месяца назад

    Thanks for the video. My blower has just stopped working at the hottest time of the year of course! I took it out and found a spring wedged in the fan blades and a piece of plastic snapped off at the top of the motor. I've ordered a new Mahle motor, hopefully that fixes it. It's worth noting that this job is much easier on right-hand drive models because all the wiring on top is on the other side of the car so I didn't even disconnect the battery to tell the truth. I had it out in about 15 mins and the hardest part was finding a tool to fit under the ledge below the windscreen to remove the screw at the back! Amazingly the filter was still intact on my 10 year old car!

    Did you Havel any faultcodes in the AC ECU? My buddy has the same issue with his BMW and we are not sure whether to replace the fan or the fan regulator. There is a 81207 code in the ECU.

    Another example of the FACT that OEM does Not always mean "quality". An AutoZone part beats a German-made MAHLE OEM part, LOL. I've had a Chinese water pump running for 8 years in my E39 which I paid like $32 for it. Quality is about SELECTION, what you CHOOSE or how you CHOOSE the parts that you buy. Don't just choose by NAME or BRAND, as you're NOT buying a "NAME", you're a PRODUCT ! yes I know it is HARDER to make an informed choice by looking at features, but you must choose based on FEATURES and CHARACTERISTICS of the item you are buying, be it a TV, a mobile phone, a suit you're wearing, or even a blower motor for an F10. Great video man, keep it up :) :)

    Surprise Surprise - a defective part from ECS tuning. The worst automotive retailer on the planet. No wonder there are Facebook groups named “I hate ECS tuning”.

    • @Krowicki
      @Krowicki  2 года назад +1

      I've heard negative things about them since this incident but I've decided to give them another shot. Defective parts exist with every retailer so for now I'll keep shopping there if the price is right but one more screw up and that's it for them from me.

    Mine completely died out of nowhere. I’m thinking it might be a fuse. Do you happen to know where the fuse might be? I checked the diagram and it’s like hieroglyphics. Googled it and it references a fuse 68 that does not exist lol.

    After replacing the blower motor resistor, my blower motor was still not working. I ended up replacing the blower motor and the outer housing with the filter material and conveyed the new resistor to the new motor, out of caution. I also replaced the hood cowl that was cracking. When I installed the new blower, I lifted up on the cowl to access one of the rear screws and the cowl no longer sealed, allowing water to pass into the engine compartment. Blower works great! Unfortunately, ac isn’t cold.

    Just replaced the fan on my 2014 535d. This video was really helpful. I had lots of leaves too, but my screen was intact. I dropped a couple of screws. Fishing them out is a real PITA. Fortunately my new BMW blower works perfectly. It's going to be 95 here the next three days so I'm really happy that my AC will work properly. I had the same issue. It would come on, run for a bit then stop even though the controls on the dash were calling for it to run. It happened once about a year ago, but lately hit and miss.

      well with no air to blow the ac won’t be cooling the car. i remember last summer when I had this issue, it would work for 10 seconds and then not work for a few mins. So all of the sudden the AC kicked in and cooled me for 10 seconds and then it disappeared and it was hot again.
