Five for the Fiesta - 1970

This is an extract from the beginning of a film covering the 1970 World Cup Rally from London to Mexico City. This gruelling 16,000 mile event covered 25 countries in 26 days; with only 23 of the original 96 entrants completing the event. In this clip we see some of the big names in rallying in action such as Hannu Mikkola, Timo Makinen and Roger Clark alongside England footballer Jimmy Greaves who went on to finish a creditable 6th. Five of the first eight home are Escorts, with Mikkola and co-driver Gunnar Palm overall winners in their Escort 1850 GT.
