*Pretty big video today! A big thank you to Ford UK for allowing us to come and play with their toys as well as all of you who have supported us on our journey so far, much appreciated ❤*
Important as FEV 1H is in the Escort story , I’m not sure fans of the Escort Twin Cam ( where the type 49 shell first appeared ) introduced more than two years before the 1970 World Cup Rally would agree that this is were the Escort’s competition story started though. By 1970 the Twin Cam had won the World Rally Championship For Makes twice with numerous international wins . On track , Alan Mann racing won the ‘68 British Touring Car Championship . The list of clubman level successes by 1970 are too numerous to mention. Still a decent well produced video though.
The orange mk1 Mexico belonged to my manager he bought it brand new and really looked after it, when he passed I wanted to buy it but he had left it to the ford museum. A friend did that rally but his car didn't make it past Argentina
May Hannu's soul rest rest in eternal peace, a very good feature. Tha Ford is very well prepared even in today's standards. Strangely though, the Ford did not have a roll cage or even a rear roll bar!
Hi guys. Be very sceptical with this car. The plate may be correct but the shell in not correct as a quick look under the bonnet will tell you. The engine for Mexico was homologated at 1601cc that's how it got into the 1601 to 2000cc class. The wood dash is not correct, the seats are not correct and I would guess the strut bodywork under the wheel arch at chassis rail is not correct. The only way this car should be validated is if it has the paperwork from Ford.
Well, TBR. The comment "its the strength and shell" is incorrect. There are no bulkhead to inner guard plates! The heritage museum should know that the engine was holologated at 1601cc. The rest I can't see but to have it sitting there with the front bumper not straight is just another clue.

& like a metro 6R4 it shares absolutely no parts with the road version ! Down to the siamese over bored x-flow engine block . The road version is NOT even an R.S. as every bit if ford's literature does not show R.S. even though r.s. accessories were available, alloy wheels , steering wheel , underboot wind deflector etc etc . Yet the mk2 Mexico was advertised as an R.S.
I had a twin cam years ago it was very low geared. Very quick acceleration. 85 top speed. Loved it Tuned to 140 bhp. No good on motorways. Screaming like a demon at 80. I should have changed the diff back to standard. Then would have hit about 120 mph. Ans a lot more mpg. Instead of about. 10 mpg.

I've been around it a few times now and it's such a lovely car. It was clearly well looked after, even prior to Ford's ownership!
Well Narrated, had me hooked from the start , this is top quality content , thank you 😊
Thanks Brian! Much appreciated.
Brilliant video. Fantastic car. The 86bhp is the same output as my Skoda Roomster. Cant imagine how anyone was impressed by the performance...
Glad you enjoyed it
How are people not watching more of your videos?? Really good quality and production! Keep it up man
Thanks for the kind words, Trevor! Everyone has to start someone at the end of the day.
The cars in that room 😍, 77 RAC winning car and also looks like 94 Monte winning escort, RS200. Love to spend a day in there
There's plenty of gems in their collection! Be sure to check out our walk around video on the channel to see more.
One of the best videos I have ever watched, thank you.
Appreciate that! Thank you Nik.

Considering this is Ford's own heritage collection, I'd be inclined to trust them...

@@TheBackRoads for you anything.... 😙
Roger Clark?
Couldn't use the twin cam lotus engine or the new at the time bda they didn't think they would last the distance due to the conditions

Oblong? That has angles, I think you meant oval.
No, he means oblate, means squashed circle!
RS1600?????
This car keep by ford heritage collection
AI is scary
It's incredible how much it cleaned up some of that footage.
BDA first
Quite so, RS1600 was top of the Mk 1 AVO tree, then twin cam, RS2000, lastly Mexico. All great "clubmans" cars each for different budgets.
Wow god’s garage
Isn't it just?
3:34 a french driver died during the race
3:35 "its absolutely incredible...."
perfect, lol (
Hey, HEY! Don't take me out of context 😂
Why do these videos all have an odd way of speaking English ( like Jay Emm) all the emphasis is on the wrong word of punctuation stop!! Most odd.
