  • This sequence of railway videos I made in the 1990s were an attempt to record something of the final decade of locomotive-hauled rosters between Preston and Blackpool North Stations, mainly featuring classes 31 and 37. There are also a few DMUs of that time, a brief period of visits by HST125s and the last tanker train workings from ICI Thornton.

    Loving these video's. Loco hauled trains are the best, not like modern ones which resemble trams with no character. Still got part 3 to watch.

    This brings back Memories, Before Railtrack messed it up with these Ugly Electrification Installations, Great Memories of 31s,37s and 47s Going through this route.The days of Thrash, Music to my ears, Not like the 21st century, Loved these days, Miss the Signal box 😔😢

    Driver at 2:49 who was a bit startled is the great instructor Dave Jackson. Know for his pipe and sunny disposition. I'm surprised that there aren't more comments on this fabulous vid. Thank you for posting.

    sure I saw 408 in there I saw a prog about bashers once and I remember that he talked about 408 being his beast 👍🏽

      Either Manchester Victoria, Liverpool or Holyhead.
