I'm back and forth on this. The only thing I'm sure on at this point is that static prison is not a good card. It's awkward to have a turn limit between removing hate and going off and you can get blown out by removal for the prison itself. I'm also not sold on phlage. A storm backup plan that is hated out by the same cards as plan A doesn't seem very effective.
Why not both? I run 1 Lush Portico (G/W surveil land from MKM), and my fetch lands are 4 Arid Mesa, 4 Wooded Foothills. All my other lands produce Red mana so I can usually turn 1 fetch a Lush Portico, and turn 2 Mountain, Ritual, Ruby or Ral, Ritual, etc. etc. Sacred Foundry gives me WW for Orim's Chant kicked, and I don't think I need to be running Stomping Ground, but maybe. What do you think of my mana base? Oh, it's a total of 17 land and 4 Strike it Rich.
I do like that Static is a one mana catch all for the most part. The time restraint is questionable, but you're hoping to pop off before then anyway. I read a lot of posts from the PT that they did not like Static, which is understandable. There are so many sideboard cards I want to play! I just know that Damping Sphere, Lizard and Drannith are the top annoying cards. I agree Phlage seems meh for the reasons you mentioned.. either exile effects or they're playing graveyard hate anyway.
There's definitely a possible to run both, especially since I'm on two surveil lands anyway. I just want all the sideboard cards so it's hard to choose. I've been on 3 SiR and it has felt fine with 18 lands. I'm sure your mana is deec too.
Reminder that, when trying to flip Ral, you should respond to his trigger with your rituals to maximize the number of triggers with enough spells cast for him to ultimate.
Oh! Good point! Like if I win the flip and have the ability to cast more instants, then it's guaranteed he will come down with enough loyalty to Ultimate.
Do you prefer the green splash or white splash for the sideboard??

@@magusofthebargain which green cards do you run?
That's, for sure, was a strange league.
Hope next time opponents will be better :)
Haha me too! And hopefully I play better 😅
