I think the biggest mistake Superman Returns made was not having a more hopeful ending that he and Lois could get back together. I dont care what the reviews say... but it was frankly just too ambiguous about the future of Lois and Clark which is a bedrock of all Superman movies that do well. The audience _needs_ to know Superman and Lois will be together. I get that they were hoping for a trilogy or at least a sequel where we would see them get together... personally I think the whole movie would have benefitted from Lois being a the same level of angry and conflicted about Clark's return as Katie Holmesdepicted, but as a single Mom that was _dating_ Richard White and living in _her own_ apartment, etc. I admit the first time I saw the movie I was so depressed for Superman, he had a son he could in no way acknowledge as either Superman OR Clark and that was just not good writing whe you considernhow iconic the relationship between Lois and Clark is. The other dumb thing, she knows she has Superman's child, but not Clark Kent's? Come on!! Again, I know Lois is supposed to have had her memory modified in Superman II ( which was the dumbest thing Donner did ) but to give her a kid and she doesn't know about the father's dual identity? Unbelievable. Sigh.... I had been so hopeful that the Superman Returns movies would have led to more movies in that franchise until I saw how they dealt with Lois and Clark in the last 5 minutes. I didn't want them to have to kill Richard White just create a window for Superman to get back together with Lois. That type of drawn out drama is what you do in a TV show like Smallville not a 2 hour movie... even if there are plans for a sequel.
His Lois Lane was dead. He had black in the emblem. When he came back, the yellow was back- meaning when the Spectre rebirthed the multiverse, he fixed this in this Superman's universe. He also gave Diggle back his daughter and aged up Superman and Lois' kids, and added one on Earth Prime. Being a father himself Oliver gave back to everyone what he chose to sacrifice for himself, because that was the kind of hero he was.

I actually like Superman Returns, despite the lack of traditional combative action, the classic rescue response logistics that has always been associated with Superman over combat made Superman Returns the most iconic modern Superman for me. The action in Man Of Steel is dope too, no doubt! Much needed in my opinion and I ain't mad that he killed Zod lol. Superman's son killed a guy with a piano in Returns lol. But nevertheless, Superman Returns also had this love story, being a father deep spiritual thing to it that I found to be amazing. I hope James Gunns Superman has aspects of both.

Yeah, Brandon Routh also plays the Atom on the Arrowverse's Earth-1. This is Earth-96. Later on in the crossover they meet, and the Atom is overjoyed to find out he has a super-doppelganger. Lex (from Earth-38- the one they're talking about) thinks it's nothing to be proud of.
Brandon routh as superman reminds me of andrew Garfield as spiderman. They were both fantastic in the role, but got screwed with bad scripts and not a proper chance to do their characters justice inna solo performance.

Brandon Routh was a great Superman, even if his movie wasn't one for the books. I still liked it, personally, but in a rankings list, definitely not one of the higher ones.

Second. Because of what and who he is. Its hard to make a good movie about him. Its nearly impossible to make him seem valuable. Till you get a universal or multiple universal threat. Even with kriptoite or a red star. He has the ability to push through it. The best way to see Superman is one grand interdiction movie. Then he is not seen till the end of another movie when his help is required.
People bash on Routh but I liked his as Superman.
