    There's a great but also tragic story behind the original lego horse. The designer of the horse mold accidently left an earlier prototype on their boss' desk for final review rather than his final fixed mold. The old prototype version was approved, whose legs were not quite the same width/shape, and that was the first lego horse.

  • @tomogotchi9140

    I cannot help myself, I love this kind of interaction...
    My Lego world is an insect-based world to which all the minifigs are humanoid insects that I call "Insektorians", so of course my fav mold that I get as much as I can are the ant molds from Indiana Jones and Antman, fun-fact, in Jurassic World the video game they had one in red, and I REALLY wish they made it in that color. By that same vein, I have alot of Scorpions and the Galaxy Squad larvae to act as fauna. but I do like collecting animal molds when possible and do sprinkle them in, they add alot of life to my layout, especially the dogs.
    I love the Lego Dinosaurs and I really do wish they release a Stegosaurus mold hopefully in brown as I do want to see an update, because I also like Lego Adventurers and would like to one day get the Dino Island sets but prefer the more recent dinos. My fav is the Ankylosaurus which is my fav dino in general and I have 2 of them.
    I also collect Minecraft stuff but they are brickbuilt so I know they don't really count, but I do love the Sheep in that game, and hope they release that head mold in more colors.
    One animal that you didn't show, probably don't count as such, though I myself am thinking of picking one up, is the giant snail from the belville line, I believe they came in 2 colors and had removable shells.
    Other animals I like, I have been thinking of grabbing that Disney set to get the sheep, though if they come out with those farm sets you mentioned I'll pick that up, snakes for my Lego Adventurers sets and some horses.
    Really loved watching this video and seeing how expansive Lego's bestiary truly is and it makes me want to grab some online, well done DuckBricks!

    The size of the first Dilophosaurus is scientifically correct, because they reached 2.5 m in height. Although I must admit that the current version is technically faithful to the movies, although only a juvenile specimen was seen in the movies. So I think they should go back to the bigger mold.

    very, very nice collection, and video of course! I'd have a question for you though: last year I got a Jabba's Palace from 2012 from a korean bricklink seller... The thing is, inside of the box, there was a transparent lego sorting box branded "LEGO Star Wars", and a sort of small card which I guess suggests this was a sort of "golden-ticket item". I have found nothing on the internet about it, would you have any idea what this is/if it would be valuable to collectors?

    • @DuckBricks
      @DuckBricks  2 года назад +6

      This is a good question! Due to toy packaging laws in Korea, all boxes must be filled to capacity to prevent false advertising. That’s why almost every Lego set sold in Korea comes with an extra little sorting box to fill up space!

    • @sauron6977
      @sauron6977 2 года назад +2

      I personally think that LEGO Dino 2012 should have a revamp.
      It'd be awesome, just having a Dinosaur-related theme that has got a better price per piece ratio.
      LEGO Dino had much more personality than JW. Jurassic World sets are damn boring and they reuse a lot of pieces, I mean, just look at the two Baryonyx, they're horrible

    • @austinbethel2137
      @austinbethel2137 2 года назад

      @@sauron6977 Ok but you'd agree that when you buy a set you're paying for the plastic and printing and that the amount of plastic to create many mid and large sized dinosaurs as well as the printing for all that massive plastic is more than standard pieces? It's hard for LEGO, in their terms, to create a good profit off of Dinos especially in terms of price per piece just because of the size of the molds. That's not even considering licensing costs for things like Jurassic Park & Jurassic World ect

    • @sauron6977
      @sauron6977 2 года назад

      @@austinbethel2137 I do agree with you at some point.
      The latest wildlife rescue sets exemplify what you did comment.
      The 60307 has only five hundred pieces and costs one hundred dollars.
      So, yes the molds are quite expensive expensive and I find another examples in similar sets.
      But if LEGO made a non-licensed theme with dinosaurs, those sets would ve cheaper than Jurassic World's ones.

    • @austinbethel2137
      @austinbethel2137 2 года назад

      @@sauron6977 Yeah they'd be cheaper but still overpriced. The irony is technically LEGO could still sell them for whatever they wanted and honestly, while I do know in terms of manufacturing production there is a break even point as in there is a $ range LEGO sticks between so they do actually make a profit on sets, but from what I've seen they can price the sets cheaper and still make a profit. However that goes back to the overarching idea of capitalism in "putting profits over x" although that is the whole foundation of capitalism. I'm not saying it's right that we were born into a world like this but simply that everyone else was as well. When most businesses are built off the structure of creating revenue then their main goal is to make money. However I look at it this way in terms of Dinos for LEGO: They're a good toy company and do care about their products, in order for them in their business structure to make molded lego dinosaurs (licensed and unlicensed) they have to charge more money for both the sheer amount of plastic molding and printing. You do in general get a "Acceptable to high quality product" for thr price and Lego gets the profit. To make up for this Lego assures the customer that not all sets are the same i.e. a Ninjago set that doesn't have 2 giant molded figures will be cheaper on average than a Dinosaur themed set that does. So to me yeah they're pricy but still somewhat fair in terms of Lego's logic with my rationale that Dino set prices average > other set theme prices average. Personally I don't like what they did with the Dilos, regardless of whether they're more or less accurate,, because you can't move their necks but I also think it would be cool to get some new raptors that have feathers represented in the molding/printing like more realistic raptors than reptile skin which I believe will actually be in the 3rd World movie but I don't think "feathered" raptors are in any of the leaked Fallen Kingdom sets
