i feel like upon diving into the multiverse, there has been no stakes due to the vast opportunities regarding endless story making. because of this, the mcu universe is bound to always win with minor consequences. the movie would’ve been great if Scott was stuck in the quantum realm after defeating kang, which would imply that they won with a cost
And a case to backpedal if they need to. Apparently, the next Dr. Strange film WILL have The Superior Iron-Man, so I guess he was just taking a vacation while his colleges were getting slaughtered that day and they also decided he wasn't worth bringing up to Strange, so he was lucky, it looks like. Totally not at all feeling like this was thought up after the fact.
Yup, no stakes and a "get out of jail free" card
Let's pretend both inhumans and she hulk take place in another universe.
That's not an excuse. Vast for opportunities for endless story making? Then how come MCU feels so limited now in storytelling?
They're just doing multiverse story wrong, they just treated it as some comic book stuff and nothing more.
@@ThePrinceofHisOwnKingdom and i agree with that, but i am also saying that there are no stakes because of it as well
Let me guess big cgi army(bad) fought big cgi army(good) in the end and good cgi army won.
basically
You can boil anything down lmao, what'd your point
Yes.... but Ants
@@silcoego2859 pretty much but when marvel are publishing films back to back that are summarised by the main comment, should be a problem...just my opinion obviously
@@darkassassin6457 this^
I did not want Kang to lose. I wanted him to win. Not just in this movie but in other solo hero movies before Kang dynasty. Because that would have been really cool that a villain is destroying one by one each avenger before they all realise they need to team up and avenge the fallen.
I certainly did not want him to get beaten by ants, no matter how futuristic, and high tech they are. I just don’t. Which is why i want this movie to fail.
I’m tired of marvel not taking risks and giving us the same boring happy ending with no serious consequences to the main character’s life. Also who the heck even cares about that quantum civilisation. Can’t even remember their names.
Couldn’t have said it better myself. If they’d found a reasonable explanation for antman winning (and there really isn’t one, should’ve just had them lose or narrowly escape) it might be different but the fucking ants?! Christ 🤦🏻♂️ That’s awful. I was hoping they’d do exactly what you said and just have kang win every movie and be an unstoppable force like, ya know, THANOS? The guy they’ve been saying he’s WORSE than but he gets taken down by solo heroes?
Sorry he's gone forever
The story is barely there, and the characters get stripped of everything they’re supposed to be.
-Ant-Man: Saved the universe. Perceived loser who gets bailed out of his 2 hero moments by Wasp.
-Kang: talks about killing Thor. Throws Rudd and Cassie around a prison like nothing. Built an army. Nudered in the second half.
-Cassie: untrained combatant and super genius, with a suit I guess?! Does almost nothing to earn superhero status.
-Modok: Brilliant scientist turned super killing machine. A literal punching bag for gags. Sacrificed for barely-there character arc.
-Wasp: should have gotten the hero badge. Saves Ant-Man 2x, is otherwise non existent.
-Hank: genius scientist. Treated like a dope.
-Pfiefer: scientist and super survivor. Turned into a lying hussy who somewhat caused a mass genocide. Oops. Redemption? Nope. Ant Army. 🤷🏻♂️
Fun movie, but writing was trash and the backlash is deserved. The more I think about it the more it hurts my brain lol. How’d that script slide through that many people?!
Amen!! 💯💯💯
yah writing was trash. Everything turned out to work well in the end all of because of ass pulls.
Kind sad that Scott group of friends didn’t pop up in this one, there presence definitely felt needed.
I'm still pissed we didn't get a post credit scene in Endgame with Luis and his meta voiceover retelling the snap /Thanos situation.
I've been arguing with many online because they don't understand.
I came up with a simple thought experiment to explain our frustration.
Imagine if, instead of Kang, it was Tony Stark... given the time and resources, would Tony have lost to Antman, Wasp, and smart ants.
Obviously not... so why have us believe Kang would.
They did him so dirty 😔
I think it’s very telling that they didn’t even bother to give this new Cassie actress brown contact lenses. Apparently quantum entanglement changes eye color aswell.
Ant-man 1 was really good because the script was written by Edgar Wright. However, he wanted the film to stand on its own. He left the project because of the scene with Sam Wilson.
Fr I stand by Ant Man 1 being the best and among the 3 and is an actually pretty decent film overall
Ant man 1 is good and everyone thought it was too. Ant man 2 was seen as less good but i still dont know why now people act like the first 2 were trash
Ant-Man 1 is fine, Ant-Man 2 is awful, haven’t seen this third one dont plan on it
@@plugmanjohnson7456 kinda ironic you have to ask why WHILE HAVING JON SNOW AS YOUR PFP 😅
That's so sad, the whole point of Marvel is connection lol
I really enjoyed Ant man Quantumania, but i have to agree with a lot of people that the ending should have been darker. Scott getting stuck in the quantum realm once again would have been something interesting in the marvel universe instead of the usual happyy ending
Kangs colours are everywhere in that final scene. There's a couple that are behind him and yet they're also in front of him....There's a drawing of Antman on the wall and the only time you see that is when someone dies......when he walks past people they turn round and look at him like he's not supposed to be there......There's definitely something going on. Scott is not where he's supposed to be
@@ajlomax603 I really want that to be true . Because the fight with Kang, a person who has destroyed heroes and multiverses was too easy. A man like that just doesn't get killed that easily.
@@superworld4076 yeah the seemingly happy ending irked me. I thought about it though and I think he’s in the wrong universe.
There is no way your theory is correct because it was Cassie who pulled Scott and Hope out of the Quantum Realm.
@@superworld4076 Remember though with Kang - he’s essentially Tony Stark (Iron Man). His suit is his power with tech and such. Kang is probably very good in hand-to-hand combat and Lang has been in fights too. Lang isn’t someone that will fold especially if it means saving his family.
Poor Johnathan Majors. Signing up to be the best shipmate on a sinking ship
I dont know. He is getting some stellar reviews, he is everyone's favorite part of the movie. Marvel is lucky they have him under contract for a few more movies.
"sinking ship" 😂😅
Nigga what? 🤣
Mcu is not sinking bruh, and he will is already a movie star, he’s not “poor”.
@ronthorn3 mcu movies are consistently having great opening weekends followed by huge box office drops. Thor 4 and black panther 2 both made less than their previous films. Multiverse of madness had the hype of no way home and still didn’t hit a billion. Quantumania had the biggest drop yet. Movies like the marvels and blade have had tons of production issues. The ratings for the Disney plus shows were horrible and none of them were in the Nielsen top 10 ratings. The mcu is failing and I can’t wait for the day when it finally does.
Imagine how hype it would’ve been for the start of this phase to be a fantastic 4 movie I 100% think that’s what this should’ve been
they don’t fit into the story correctly yet
@@imcool6666 how do they not? They 100% could’ve made it work
@@keelan2895 not really
well perhaps if the f4 were stuck in QR and not in space and that's where they got their powers and they know about Kang
@@imcool6666 with all of the possibilities they now have with the multiverse there's endless amounts of directions they can go with the story writing. they could've introduced kang in that movie instead and it would've been so much better.
The threat of Kang isn't Kang himself like with Thanos, it's his knowledge of the multiverse and the fact that even if you manage to kill 10 variants there are still 1000 that are plotting something similar. If you look at it in the same lens as we looked at Thanos then of course Kang being defeated so easily is a problem but when you understand who Kang really is you realize one Kang being defeated means basically nothing in the grand scheme of things.
The thing too is Thanos made his debut at max power. The second he was done scheming he pulled up with an infinity gauntlet. Even for how strong he is it doesn't seem unfeasible for me to assume if his first movie engaged him without the gauntlet he mightve been clapped by someone like thor.
@@taffinjones8641 he fought thor iron man and cap with no gauntlet in endgame tho and almost killed them lol
@BigGucciSosaBaby DCUO good point actually🤣 I guess even then it's a bit easier when you're genetically an eternal
But it should be like them killing thanos then realizing theres another that should be the scary part.
Each version of kang should still be terrifying. So far he who remains was an over the top clown and the conqueror got beaten by ants. Not a great start, how many kangs do we have to go through before we get a good villain? Also the council of kangs scene was ridiculous
That’s crazy.. we’re in a world where now you have to wait till the movie hit a streaming service for it to get updated so it can look better 😂
“They ended up in Disneys Strange World.” Best comparison I’ve heard 😂
The only thing wrong with quantumania is that Luis wasn’t in it
No…there were several things wrong…like bffr Luis wouldn’t have saved this movie
@@eezus9452 who tf says it would save it??? LMAO just said it was wrong he wasnt there
I miss the bongos
They should’ve showed us how he conquered the quantum realm
They should’ve showed us a lot. They essentially just threw antman into a war with random ass people that nobody cares about and were like “you all care because antman is a hero.” I had no connection to the rebels. Maybe if they’d shown how Janet fit in with them and shit instead of her just refusing to talk about everything the whole movie, things could be different
@@michaelthatoker7125 that’s actually a good plot point as well
The fact someone oked MODOK to be shown to the general public is absolutely insane. Almost crazier than the creators thinking the audience would buy Antman somehow not being obliterated by Kang in that third act fight. Stupidity
While I do definitely agree the CGI looked bad, I don't think it'd really be all that possible for a design like his to not look incredibly goofy. Which is probably why even beyond live action MODOK is rarely ever supposed to be taken seriously
> thinking the audience would buy Antman somehow not being obliterated by Kang in that third act fight
Why not? Without his tech (which was disabled by the giant ants), he's just a really smart and ripped human with good hand-to-hand skills.
Or did Marvel's writers give you too much credit in expecting you to put visual context clues together about the ants disabling Kang's powered suit (thus taking away his powers; as the suit and chair are established to be the source of his power during Janet's flashback scene) - both with the large sparks flying off his suit when the ants are attacking him, as well as a shot of his left gauntlet (his right arm's being ripped off; hence his bare arm) short circuiting?
I found the cgi to be unbelievably bad. I also found it to be unbelievable that the actors were able to recognize him as Darren Cross. His head was too stretched out and distorted to recognize him as Darren Cross. Darren doesn't have a round head. They should have kept his head and face rectangular to make him more recognizable. One of the biggest problems with the CGI for Modok was they didn't even model it appropriately. Lots of scenes were just his flat face pasted into the scene with no dimensionality. It was very poorly done. However, Corey Stohl did an amazing job. The VFX artists did an amazing job given the time restraints and abuse they were put through. Disney and Feige are to blame and forced this movie through too fast. We basically got Cyperpunk'd on this one.
@@Madara8989 How about the writers not coming up with a more interesting resolution to the story?
@@ThePrinceofHisOwnKingdom my major flaw is just switch Cassie and hope. Switch them around and the movie works so much better. It gives hope something to do and Cassie the secondary character but not kinda useless. And it gives hope and Scott something to do together. Scott and hope also shoulda just ended in the quantam realm and that’s the new post credits. The threat of doom is cool but have Scott trapped in there at least fkr a little bit and then do a jump cut for the post credits to like 6 months later so it seems like a long time. Other than that then idk
Technically, Kang is the smallest bad guy so far
Because of the line in the trailer when Kang told Ant Man that he could give Scott more time with his daughter, I thought it would be really cool if Kang was able to coerce Scott into becoming his servant. But in the movie, nah. Kang was talking to Janet and somehow his armor gets torn apart by ants and he loses
as funny as it is kang getting stopped by insects is comic accurate it actually happened once I was surprised when they adapted that to the big screen😂
I'm old enough to remember that time when kang got defeated by normal cockroachs.
I think the biggest disappointment for me is that Peyton Reed said Ant-Man and the Wasp would partially be a rom com and it barely felt that way. Considering how he made successful rom coms in the past and I wouldn't have minded the movie being part heist movie, part rom com. So to hear that The Wasp herself is barely relevant in this movie, along with other gripes, is just depressing.
Ant-Man and The Wasp may not be the most interesting MCU characters but they have the most unique superpowers out of most of the Avengers. Shrinking and growing themselves while also shrinking and growing anything else? AND communicating with different races of ants who have their own "powers" and using them as sidekicks? That's so freaking cool!
Here's hoping Scott's memoir will be great. I already pre-ordered it and I'm hoping he talked with Doctor Strange about how they were the only Avengers who traveled the Quantum Realm before Endgame.
I like the ant man movies. They are like bite size snacks. But going in big with Kang was too much.
First ant-man looked so good visually. The quantum realm in the end of that movie, also just made me curious. I wish they kept that style in the new one.
man hearing how youre so excited for jonathan majors and knowing how they dropped his ass quick due to his dv case is just heartbreaking
The downside to too much quantity and not enough quality. One singular Thanos was more villainous and daunting than an entire room full of Kang deviants. Think about that.
'Everyone came out unscathed'... not MODOK
Ant Man and The Wasp: Quantamania is basically a Spy Kids reboot
I was also wondering why they used Ant Man to introduce Kang like...why? I guess it's cause they haven't used him in a while I guess.
Here's who I want to see as variants of the multiverse: characters from The Gifted (including recasting Andy because of the crap Percy Hynes White did), the "Avengers" members of The Incredible Hulk movies (never watched them but I've seen a video with interviews from the actors), 2005 Fantastic Four, Venom. I haven't watched the rest but Wesley Snipes's Blade, Mattfleck Daredevil, the previous two actors who played The Punisher, Johnny Blaze, The Hoff's Nick Fury, a version of The Falcon who CAN control birds. There are so many of them that cameoing in just Secret Wars doesn't feel like enough. I almost don't want them to destroy the multiverse unless they recover their universes. The Arrowverse's Crisis on Infinite Earths ended by recovering only a few Earths and bringing the main shows, two of which taking place in their own Earths, into one universe. Which is what I imagine the MCU will do with the X-Men franchise. What I don't want them to do after Secret Wars is completely separate them from the multiverse, forbid variants from traveling to other Earths and destroy ALL of it.
Edit: another character I'd love to see come back would be The Supreme Intelligence! Remember how it took the appearance of whatever the character in front of it admired the most? It's the perfect excuse to have actors playing fan favorite characters once again and it's even more grandiose when it confronts multiverse variants!
3:04 - T.I. "Paper Trail" reference. I see what you did there lol
Only thing missing was the funny Louis Guy from antman 1 and 2 :(
Dude is like the best buddy side character in the MCU lol
@@WiloPolis03 ikr
That paper trail line is genius writing
I've noticed in a few reviews that the reviewer calls Cassie, Hope's daughter. Which she isn't, and Cassie's mom is still alive, just divorced from Scott.
This mans got “boy bye” for his background music. Hella respect my guy
Ant-man 3 didn’t really feel like an Ant-man film. It felt like the Flash CW show. The first 2 seasons were about the flash, but afterwards it’s the Flash team show. This film is like the Ant-man team movie. It’s not really about Ant-man it’s about his daughter and Janet. This is a slight tangent but I miss the 2000s era of superhero films like the blade, the dark knight, and the Spider-Man trilogy. They focused on the titular character, but now we don’t have that. We have these MCU projects that are so intertwined that they’re just platforms to introduce new characters we don’t care about. Which is a reason I don’t think big interconnected movie universes are always good. Sometimes a good standalone film or trilogy is fine…. Actually, there are so many similarities between CW DC shows and the MCU it’s frightening. Hopefully, the MCU doesn’t become CW DC shows.
Ant-Man and The Wasp wasn't that bad to begin with. It has everything we could expect out of a superhero movie franchise. The case did a stellar job overall.
It was on par with other ant man movies maybe the worse if the 3 but not by much.
People put too much weight on this movie.
Had a way too long 3rd act, but other than that it was a really fun time, especially in the wake of Infinity War trauma
Quantumania starts @ 9:30 your welcome
Did anyone forget Ant man was a criminal? I completely forgot about that because he acts like such a golden retriever whenever he’s on screen and his buddies kinda don’t get a lot of screen time after the 1st movie.
Majors performance is too good for the MCU.
My thoughts exactly, why did Ant-Man have to be Kang's first movie for crying out loud?
This didn’t age well 😂
Not at all 😂 this was the comment I was looking for lol
I got a silly amount of joy from you calling him Chidi. I was like “Chidi!!!” In the theatre and I got looks lol
why did they change the actress for cassie?? i will never understand that, no offense to kathryn newton but she was not good in this movie, she had zero chemistry with paul rudd. the other actress actually looked like an older cassie and probably was the better choice
"Hope and Hank crank and hope that...." I'm still here twenty minutes later basking in this line.
I thought Cassie was getting coaching from Pym after she read his journals? Edit: Both to build the device and to open portals.
Ant man 1 was good.. Edgar Wright had some contribution in it..
How did the Thor joke undercut the villain when Kang a couple lines later calls Scott, Ant Man, meaning Kang knew the entire time and was playing dumb. I had high hopes I found another reviewer who understood the nuance of QM but just found another one who needs to see the movie again because they missed half of the subtly.
I find it funny how the only movie called “civil war” doesn’t have two giant armies at the end. Just a handful or fighters and that gets even smaller. This seems like the movie that would have done the same, but nah.
it's a good thing Jonathan Majors has a strong back.
Im all for more women in the mcu but why are they all just nerfed version of their dads/brothers where their personality is to make bad decisions. (Cassie lang, kate bishop, shehulk, shuri, ironheart, etc). The male versions all went thru these incredible journeys that showed us how they got so powerful but freaking Cassie Lang can develop a portal to the quantum realm as a teenager just cuz? Give me a break.
Yeah..., I am DEFINITELY going to wait until this movie hits Disney+. Hopefully, Guardians of the Galaxy, volume 3 will be worth risking health and wealth to go the movie theater. 🤞🏾
I think have the Gillian be Annilaus. Make it the Negative Zone rather than the Quantum Realm and I think it would work better.
R.I.P. MCU we will not gonna see Kang after the latest news...
Listennnnn…… I need you to do a Let Me Explain on Missing. In my opinion of 2023 and we are only in the 3rd Month. I need this movie to get some more exposure.
I haven't seen this movie but something about them purposefully not telling an actress that she'd have to run through explosions sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen. like I get the motive and she didn't get hurt but like.... it's still sus.
"Does any out they're know how to perform rotator cuff surgery" I felt that
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed each antman
This movie had a lot of potential
Honestly if Kang killed antman or the wasp
It would’ve started something epic for the universe
Bill Murray isn't Zapp Brannigan, he's Lando Calrissian
Bro, they made Modok look like Mr.Electric
Paul Rudd calls Thor’s hammer Jonathan in a interview and kang (Jonathan majors) asks if Scott is the guy with the hammer in this movie lol
Riveting stuff
That's cool.
Those Arrested Development references 🤣Kitty Sanchez he he he.
this video made me realize how many puns the first ant man is built on
Antman storyline is so filler I literally forgot all his appearances except for the Avengers' films.
"As they turn Thomas into a Bullet Train"

great video! I don’t agree will all your takes, but you know how to make a video. Awesome work. Keep it up
Appreciate that - love the profile pic!
@@LetMeExplain Ill see ya in another life Brotha
I enjoyed the movie, I thought it was a lot of fun, but I totally agree with a lot of the criticisms too. I mean, all the cringey bits were cringey, but also, I enjoyed it.
A Conqueror gets beat by essentially a support-type avenger and his friends.
(Ass Pull 1)The ants landed somewhere else and suffered time dilation whilst the main cast ended in the quantum realm(that could pass but I guess they needed something to beat Kang lol).
(Ass Pull 2) MODOK had a massive change of heart last second, especially since Kang had a chokehold on him and his power was absolute he was way too quick to betray Kang(not enough time to build relationship with character to have him switch sides like that? what was his motive to betray absolute power?).
(Ass Pull 3) wasn't the beacon just supposed to be a "beacon" like they said "A telescope for the quantum realm" or a messaging system so? how can they use that to open portals when Kang needed his ship's massive power cell to escape the quantum realm?(Hope and Scott should've been left behind to help rebuild. Then Cassandra would work on tech to open up a portal to the quantum realm again and save them after years or something)
My other concern is Scott realizing the he fucked up at the end by killing Kang and just ignores it lol by now I would hope that he would have taken that warning seriously, and done something like Tony Stark and warn the protectors of earth that something is coming.
I'm not a writer but damn even I can tell this is bad. If you don't keep track of the story too deeply it's a fun family movie.
Jonathan majors was the biggest reason I enjoyed this film. Phenomenal acting.
1st time commenting
Pym your ride was a good one
I'm ngl I really enjoyed Ant Man and The Wasp because it was just a lot of good fun. It didn't try to be too much all at once and it was just a great watch with hilarious jokes
So in endgame 2 all they gotta do is gigantify a bunch ants and they win
Please do an LME on the Scream franchise since Scream VI is about to be released 😭
I hate how Disney allows them say g*ddamn but not saying fuck
You never did a “Let Me Explain The Batman”. I’m still waiting on that video!

0:21 😬
Surprised there’s not more comments like this. Thought the same thing. We’re in the wrong timeline.
I’m disappointed with the fact that Kang was beaten by Ants.
The Casey actress took me out of the movie. It's probably not her fault. She's wearing heavy makeup with the smug and the "oh I am a geek but I am a badass and I am perfect" vibe. The last actress that they got rid of for some reason looked much more grounded and intelligent
True.
I know Jonathan Majors is injured after carrying the launch of the phase 5 on his back alone, but Marvel is not flying with this... A Boy cut hair woman, 2 old people who look like they were born before time itself, a guy who was the joke in his own and many other movies and his bratty teenage know it all daughter defeats a guy who has destroyed the avengers many times, is from the future and knows the timeline.... Good luck explaining that
I thought it was Sharkboy and Lavagorl by the thumbnail....then I read the title. I've never clicked anything so fast in my life 😂😂😂😂
Even Kevin Feige experiences creative rut. So please be kind to yourself
If you are an old school comic book guy, all of this stuff that Hollywood, (whomever), comes up with is lame. Both Kang and MODOK are prime examples of the problem the MCU folks have with creating truly, terrifying villains that matter. I can't even really comment on the heroes in the story.
Thank you for saving me from watching yet another mcu movie. I have no care whatsoever about any character in any of these movies, but I do greatly enjoy your videos.
This movie was pretty solid. I think most people have problems with the jokes but it’s a super hero movie. They don’t all need to be super serious all the time. I think most people nowadays just look for the bad instead of just enjoying these movies for what they are
Bruh MODOK looked literally like Mr. Electric from Sharkboy and lavagirl movie lol.. that's the only thing running in my mind all the time i was in theatre
Honestly Marvel needs to just hire Robert Rodriguez to direct their next movie
....Did my favorite youtuber just put an I Think You Should Leave With Time Robinson A Sketch Comedy Show reference into his video?
I don't have a boy dick.
Bro.....he was talking about captain america eith the hammer
I really believe that “The Kangs” celebrate the death of Kang from the Loki series. He was holding them back
Marvel was so wrong with how they went about this. They never should've had a multiverse phase with no clear plan, especially not while giving 2 weeks for writers with single credits to their name to write scripts solo for multi-million dollar films, because now these films all have to establish new physics to connect to the multiverse, with multiversal stakes that make the universe feel like it's just getting attacked infinitely and there's no believable way that anyone is still alive. Infinite probability is not a good concept to play with. Infinite means way more than just, a lot. Marvel should've just taken these characters and said, "Alright, let's do grounded, character based stories set around the comics they were based on, and feel free to throw some experimental stuff in there and try something new". But nope. It wasn't good enough to make sludge, they had to make sludge that breaks the laws of physics and its own rules while claiming, "Nah, it's fine, it's marvel, it's a dumb superhero movie for babies, don't worry about it."
just a reminder that scott has less time than falcon on being an avenger but somehow falcon is still poor and can't get a loan.
Love the lil pink panthress intro lol😭
that pinkpanthress instrumental
Kang got beat by an average human... Humanity is just FINE....
Also what i hated about this movie is, prior to the movie we knew a bunch of Kangs will show up (conclusion of Loki), and at the end of this movie the new plot is STILL that more Kangs will show up. So this movie is a filler.
Worst thing with the films, in my opinion, is how the logic of shrinking and the quantum realm and such never feels like it was planned well. And no matter how much fun they make of it, that sense of on-the-cuff writing on something that's pretty damn integral to the logic of how this is all supposed to work always rubbed me the wrong way, personally.
The audience being the best performer is such a good joke sbdhwbnxsb i love ur humour delivery
19:35 see you forgot, it's all about the ants
