I have a Tank-G and today I got this M-Vave Mini-EFX. I think it makes more sense to check the sound in conjunction with a very clean amp setting in the Tank-G. Setting 4 is the most useful addition in my opinion. It's amazing what sound quality is contained in this small and inexpensive box. I paid 13 euros - a bargain.

Great review! It is brutally difficult to get a decent sound out of this pedal. The default eq for each setting is never quite right, and every patch sounds like it mixes in patch #1 (boost) to different degrees, so you always get this interesting parallel effect of a boost mixed with this nasty brash distortion. The problem with this 'mix in the boost' is the boominess of that part of the signal.
The eq bands are strangely useless, particularly the bass. There is always a boominess from mixing in that clean boost regardless of eq setting. It is certainly the strangest distortion I have owned.
If anyone wants high gain from this pedal, I think you will be frustrated. It is all the low gain stuff that sounds best because of the interesting mixing effect you can get of a 'boost' + overdrive.
Best tip in this video: backing off the guitar volume! You are so right! Too much input signal results in more of the boost signal mixed in, and you get too much of that 'parallel' effect.
For the price, this thing is fun and interesting, and completely wacky.

It sounds good, regardless of the price.

I am impressed ...a SWISS ARMY KNIFE for stacking on other pedals to fix a problem that could be EQ or poke or whatever.

It may find its way onto my board, that DB voicing 4, I don’t have any other dirt pedals that do that sound, so it’s definitely sticking around.

I’ve never noticed one. But, in this price range, some inconsistency can be expected.
