      Hey chica!
      I thought about getting one but the thought of bringing something else into this tiny apartment stressed me out lol, but I may need to just get one and find a lil place in the cabinet for it. Your mixes always turn out super smooth! Thanks for watching

      @Sherea DelSol I haven't used henna in years but I think I remember people saying that metal tools could compromise the henna. Does your immersion blender have a silicone attachment or do you just use the metal blades? It's not a super long contact time so it's probably not a big deal even if it is true.

      @@linzeeb4 LOL, it's not true. Indian women mix in metal bowls. That's true for clay though.

      @AshkinsCurls  Год назад

      I’m usually good with a pack, sometimes that is even too much and I have some excess, now about 90% of a pack seems to be the sweet spot. Heard great things about Henna Sooq over the years. When I have a chance I’ll get some distilled water, hopefully this week since I’m due for a treatment next week. Thanks for watching!

    I never used steel bowls or a blender for henna or indigo. Just wood & plastic as at the time they told me it was a no-no to use stainless steel with henna, maybe it had to do with "bad" henna and metallic salts + possible reaction.

    • @AshkinsCurls
      @AshkinsCurls  3 года назад +1

      Same here, I stuck with the plastic bowl and spoon for that reason, I'd always heard that metal can cause a reaction. This henna seems to be awesome quality but I think I'll stick with my plastic just in case, such easy clean-up too lol.

    For a few grays it would make sense to use that amount. Back in the day, I used about 200 grams (yes!) to color my whole head (about arm pit length at the time). I have thick/dense hair as well, fine, but lots of it.

      Oh nice, that's good that that amount was able to cover everything. I have a lot of hidden greys in the back that I think I didn''t cover well, so I think next time I'll make more since all-over richness and color would be great, moving on to the Pro Strength Masque soon next : )

    U want the henna to sit for 4 hours for the dye release. The dye release maximizes the properties.

    • @AshkinsCurls
      @AshkinsCurls  3 года назад +2

      Thanks Jeannine! I noticed during the second application when I let the dye release for longer that gave me a more noticeable tint, so longer is key from here on put. I got some great tips during my live but couldn't remember the recommend time for max dye/benefits so I'll definitely let it sit for 4 hours next time, thank you!

    If you mix the powder directly with conditioner, henna is not gonna give off color, you need to "awaken it" so to speak, with water, and then add it.

    • @AshkinsCurls
      @AshkinsCurls  3 года назад +2

      I added water to it and let things sit for a bit before adding the mixture to the conditioner, but next time I'm going to add more hot water/henna to the mix, a little water next time will be perfect I think.

    Is it true that henna straightens your hair? I don't want to lose my curls, I'm not very curly so I'm always doing things to help my curl definition

    • @AshkinsCurls
      @AshkinsCurls  3 года назад +2

      Hi! From my research, it seems that over time for some people, due to the weight of henna building up over time on the hair, it can loosen some people's curls. For others it can actually increase definition, making their hair curlier over time, it seems to depend on the person. I've heard of some people adding Alma I believe and other Ayurvedic herbs with their henna mixes to offset the potential loosening effects of henna. Hope that helps!

    If you want black (indigo) over a light color like say light blonde or gray, put down henna first, or you will end up with green hair; no joke! Light hair needs a red "filler". It is the same with chemical colors. That is why box dyes automatically come with filler in them, but few people know this (and hairdressers will pretend like you didn't say a thing LOL)!

    • @AshkinsCurls
      @AshkinsCurls  3 года назад +1

      Oh wow, I thought I'd heard something about that before, that info will definitely help anyone that comes across it here in the comments hopefully, so they can hopefully avoid the dreaded green hair! I bet hairdressers have had to do quite the number of color corrections after some green hair nightmares, rough!
