Funny how the Giulia gets a rap for minor issues, but historically BMW's have had major mechanical issues with each generation. F80 crank hub, E90 rod bearings, E46 subframe..But yet BMW gets a free pass. Alfa shouldve offered an extended warranty to give people peace of mind, like hyundai did. There are some out there who have put 100k miles on theirs reliably. Nice review though and glad you went to the effort to dispel alot of this. Very informative review and appreciated the fact that you went through all the options, and known issues (most solved by replacing the battery or updating the ECU). Only feedback would be to go into a little more detail/reasoning on the driving/handling part, maybe take some curves. FYI painted roof became steel during MY '21 and CC brakes were discontinued in US after '20 or so. In time I think people will come to appreciate what a marvel the QV represents and what it took to make it happen. Unfortunately, there are probably less than 4k copies in the US. To put that in perspective, there were 11k MKIV Supras sold in the USA.
I should have mentioned I have read (I have had zero issues with my QV) that many electronic issues are related to a low or dead battery. Once the ECU gets too low a voltage supply it throws codes which are false in that whatever the code is indicating is fine just low voltage. A code clearer costs about $200 and is easy peezy to use. Also the steering feel on this car is magnifico Ciao.
The battery is really really important on these cars... I own one. They are well worth the money. It's an experience that every gearhead has to have. Keeping a battery in it thar stays above 70% stability is imperative. To make a long story short these cars are PHENOMENAL ❤
Been following you on instagram for a long time man. Loved the video. Think you have a ton of talent and so appreciate you're bringing the north jersey/NY flavor to the doug style. I really think you're gonna go far here. Best of luck!
Great review. You did your homework from the paint to wheels and Sparco carbon fiber seats, this was an excellent review. Reliability has been bulletproof six years and counting.
Great video!! I enjoyed so much! I owned 2 Giulia so far, a 2021 and the actual 2023, they are the 2 liter turbo, my next one will be a QV, just love it! And had no problems so far!
I have this exact model year (with the Sparco seats 😎). The issues you are describing is all related to a low or faulty battery. Keep it healthy and top it up once in a while and you're golden. Nice review!
I too have a 2017 QV and I absolutely love it. 2 years in my ownership and she's staying for good! The one thing you don't mention is that the dealers are so few and far between. It's a problem here in the UK and I hate to think how bad it is for you in the US. I use independents with knowledge of this car as they don't have to follow 'official' procedures... I have updated the CDCM and gearbox softwares to GTAm spec, added an Android Auto module to the Infotainment system, and fitted the newer, leather gear shifter and surround. Also when changing DNA modes, the throttle, steering and braking sensitivity changes too. Great and entertaining review! Loved it!
@@khankash7342 Yes you can get the GTAm CDCM and gearbox updates from Squadra I believe, but I am in the UK and I have a friend who did it for me as I needed a revD CDCM module as the early verC ones cannot be updated.
Grazie for pronouncing all the Italian words properly. Bravo. Your knowledge is molto bene. I have had my fair share of performance cars (including an Alfa Romeo 4C) and this car is my favourite by far. FORZA Alfa!!
Damn! I grew up with Alfa Romeos in my home... it was my childhood brand. You couldn't have defined it any better. ¨Alfa is a brand that drives you absolutely crazy but you love it anyway¨.
I have a Giulia Veloce, It's one of the best handling cars I've ever had with decent power too. I would love a quad in the future. Love your style of reviewing cars bro, keep it up!
@@whistlemotors I have a giulia with the same wheels. Fun fact theyre forged, made in Germany by Fuchs, and at 19" the wheels are only 19.2lbs, lighter than almost any aftermarket wheel of the same size.
Yeah I've got the same. So many people don't know what it is, it's so funny when I pull away from them 🤣. What a machine though, I've never not had grip, and I've tried to lose it a bit. But you're going so fast, if it did let go it'd be catastrophic 😂. I don't care how much it cost, or if it breaks, I will fix it and keep it. Never had a car that feels soooo good to drive. Not BMW, mercs, Audi.... 🍀 All the way for me ❤
Solid review. I've owned 2, you need to be able to deal with the quirky check engine lights and a terrible dealer network. But nothing handles like these until you get into Porsche territory. Dear everyone, swap the battery out within the first year or 2 to avoid heartache.
As a second hand 2017 owner. Can confirm I’ve had my fair share of random CEL errors lol. Did have to change both my fuel pumps and battery 👍 But man I wouldn’t know what to move on to after besides a newer QV 😂
I owned one from january od '18 to august of '21. Bought it new and drove it daily. Longest trip i took was almost 2800 km one way, and it was amazing. Average consumptin on that trip was 7.9L / 100km (trip there was highway, some city driving there, and road back was on he open road). I never had any issue with it. Only problem was that it was idiot magnet. Every boy racer wanted to race and they would ride my trunk as I was just cruising around, or they would stop next to me on traffic lights and rew they rust buckets wanting to drag race. That is how I got into an accident. An idiot in e46 tryed to do a burnout ona a wet road at the fraffic light, his car snapped, hit me, turned me around and I got hit by the dump truck. Giulia was totaled, but it saved my life. I loved it but I just cand stand the idiots. I have 330d now. It is nowhere near to Giulia, but idiots ignore it
@flatoutk4 I'd like to but unfortunately I'm not a millionare 😅 . Wife has x3 so we don't need another SUV, and I got very good deal on 3 series so I'm stuck like this for a while. I'm almost 40 now with 3 kids and If Iracing and RBR tought me anything it is that buying 500hp car might be one of the stupidest ideas of my life (and that is coming from a dude who as 20year old decided to drop out very good colledge to join ffl😂😅)
Funny you say that, one of the reasons I sold my first one was exactly this. I had idiots in pickup trucks racing around me and cutting me off to "race" me. People ruin everything. But we also can't let idiots define what we do.
She’s on my list. 2018 and up. Rosso etna, gimme gimme. Also, that siciliano comment hurt a little. But I still got love for ya 😂. Where’s part is your family from?
This car is and will remain a milestone in sports sedans. If you can, buy it! The QVs with manual gearbox, produced in 2016 in about 700 units, now price used at the same price as new! Giulia NRing Edition 2018 e the Racing Etidion 2019 already have crazy prices.

exactly!!!
Well said bmw get away with it by saying there over engineered. Just another word for German garbage
That’s because BMW flaws didn’t show up for a few years but Alfa Romeo problems will begin right from the start.
@Streamlined955 there goes a German fanboy
The front splitter doesn’t deploy under hard braking LOL, it automatically lowers when the car reaches 70 mph for better downforce.
Your review is spot on. I have the exact same model year. I love this car so much. I still watch videos about it.
