I loveeeeeee mine. I bought three different color smalls instead of one medium and two small at the rec of the salesman, plus the shoe pouch to go into my 30L bag. Glad I listened to his rec as it gave me more options / flexability for packing. All three fully packed smalls and the shoe pouch with my boots fit in the 30l like a charm. I also attached the shoe pouch externally once with the included bag straps when I needed more room as well. Traveled with this setup overseas for a month and a half. Can’t recommend enough!
I pack these "to the brim" every time, to the point that I see the stitching and I'm scared they're gonna rip, but one has never opened on me by itself. Yes, the expansion mesh can snag when closing the zipper, but you get used to paying attention to that and it's a minor downside to how nice the material is/feels. Yes they are pricey, but I'm sure I would have ripped any other cubes with the way I pack. And finally, yes, the feeling of ripping them open by the pull tabs is so satisfying!
Thanks, just felt the need that i could use some packing cubes and your video easily showed me that the packing cubes are the right choice for me, and i like you throwing in alternatives there to give a different option to look at!
Recently decided to ditch the destination day bag and just use one travel bag, so bought a PD medium packing cube as my first packing cube. Took it to a few trips and been really happy with it so far. One thing I would add to the review is that it has a separate department for dirty cloth which comes very handy.
@@Nomads.Nation it’s stretchy so big enough for me. I didn’t notice smell issue, though to be fair I also didn’t put super dirty cloth in it. Either way just a nice option to separate things and won’t eat up space when not in use.
I got a set of these, the expansion is pretty nice, they have a lot of depth. Good for big travel type luggage and bags and duffels. Though I have another set that doesn’t expand and is thinner for use in bags that have shallower compartments.
Using my pd packing cubes today to fly across the country. They fit and compress so well. Totally agree that it needs some built in locking mech. Specially given their backpacks have such lock downs.
Self-proclaimed: Travel packing cube addict- I bought the PD 'tech pouch', 1 small packing cube, 2 large packing cubes in 2 different colours. I didn't buy the PD shoe pouch because I have a "bag to life" 'easy packing set', and other travel essentials. 😂😅
Thank you for the excellent review!!! I'm quite hesitating because of the price point since I've got already the eagle spectre, clean/dirty cube. I like the option to compress AND still have the two sided design.
Hey Aaron, after a fair bit of research of mixed responses - any idea if the packing cubes and shoe pouch are washing machine washable [i.e. delicate]?
Thanks mate great video, I've just scored an awesome deal on PD's current Kickstarter campaign. Pity I couldn't get them prior to my current Euro Trip to France and Italy from Australia. I had THREE different types of compression / packing styles via Kickstarter campaigns that didn't arrive on time (4D / Wandr W36 / Peak Design Cubes)
My go to and favorite packing cubes. So here’s a question has anyone noticed a material change? The reason why I ask is that I had some older ones and then needed a few more and purchased some new ones from the website and they seem to be slightly thicker material than my older ones. Still great product just wondering if anyone else noticed this.
Ah yes the self-opening Peak Design cubes reinventing the 52 pickup game! Really surprised after all these years PD has yet to remedy the issue. To get around the issue of the zipper getting caught in the mesh as I am zipping I just place my ring finger just in front of the slider to keep the fabric pushed back so you can prevent that with one hand. A possible alternative if you don't need the fancy opening and can step down just a bit on quality is the Pack-It Isolate Compression Cubes from Eagle Creek they have served me well.
I was looking at these and noticed that the second compartment is outside the compression. How well do these fit all of your dirty clothes toward the end of your trip?
Dude, those Air Force Ones look like they need to retire and start grabbing a pension…lol Debating on whether I should shoot the lock off my wallet and buy these PD packing cubes.

I can recommend using a small s-carabiner to "securely close" the two main zippers if the cube is packed out fully.
great call
I was thinking the same thing. Just remember you have the s-lock (mini-carabiner) in place before you try opening the PD packing cubes.

awesome! I agree, that the Medium is HUGE! 2-3 small ones can work better

All the reasons why they are often considered the best

thank you, I didn't emphasize that enough, but I also didn't test it out. Does it work well (aka, is it big enough and keep out any unwanted smells?)

I love them, but still find myself using the Tortuga Packing Cubes more
I bought a set of Tripped packing cubes just like the PD cubes, they are very durable. Liked them so much I got a second set for my spouse.
nice! I'll be sure to check them out

Thanks for sharing!
Can you review the Topo Design travel backpack 40L? It seems like a popular option but want to see your take on it and the ecosystem they have for it
on our radar - hopefully soon!

Cheers! They are great packing cubes for sure but only you can decide if you need them 💪🏻

nice! be sure to let us know what you think about the bags after testing for a few weeks 💪
How about the dirty clothes compartment? Can smell or moist from the dirty clothes transfer to the clean clothes side?
that will require a test that I haven't done yet - hoping someone from the community can help!
How about spraying small amount of water on the divider and then wiping the other side with tissue?

Hi, any good innovative company/brand for business backpacks ?
Aer, Alpaka, Bellroy, Black Ember, Fyro

"52 pickup" 😂

Pretty well, it fills up quickly but gets the job done in my experience
FYI your link to buy isn't working
really? worked for me, maybe try again?
is anyone able to get to the top 10 video? when i click the link, youtube says it's inaccessible
sry about that, it's live now
I think you need to undo the compression side, zip the top, then zip up the compression
💪
Nice! Love my Peak Design packing cubes! Have a medium and three small. I only use one or two at a time 🙂
yea they are big, can handle a lot
Thule. Shockingly good.
so I've heard!

they are pretty epic packing cubes, that's for sure!
Definitely the best.
my #2 currently. I have a love affair with my Tortuga Packing Cubes
