When buying packing cubes, one of the most important things to look for is the dimensions of the cube that will go best with your luggage and not waste space. I've found that the Peak design ones are the most versatile size to go with all the luggage I have and not have weird extra spaces left over and unused. This includes a large suitcase, a Minaal travel backpack, and a couple Peak Design bags, which these cubes are made to fit with perfectly. With the other brands I looked at online, you usually have to buy a set with a bunch of sizes that you don't need to get the size you want. That just ends up being wasteful, especially when you're trying to pack a suitcase. With the PD ones, you can buy them one at a time.
I bought packing cubes a while ago, and for me, the peak design ones are the best by far. Yes, they are more expensive, but totally worth it for the build quality and the features. You'll be less likely to have to replace one later on due to a zipper breaking or something like that. They've got good compression, and the tear away opening feature is far more satisfying than you would think until you use it.

I'm curious why you compared the non-compression Eagle Creek cubes against two compression cubes when they also have compression cubes

I've got to say, as someone who travels a lot and has tested a variety of packing cubes, your best bang for the buck are to find cubes that are light weight and thin like the Eagle Creek samples, but in the shape of the Bagail cubes. This provides the best room for packing and when you're not using them, you can stuff them all into the smaller cube and tuck them away in a small pocket of your bag. Light weight cubes tend to be the cheapest, you don't want fabric that's thick (it's like packing luggage into luggage and adds weight) and unyeilding, and you want cubes that you can pack in a jiff and be off and running. There is no reason to spend over $40-50 on a set of cubes.

The reason why the Peak Design cubes don't fully close is so you can quickly open them using the tags instead of the actual zippers.

Thanks! After using them on a trip these past couple days, that’s becoming more evident. However, I still prefer a full wrap around zipper-it feels faster and more efficient for closing the bag.

Thank you so much for this latest review. Considering the price and main purpose, do you also think Bagail is best of three ?? Would you still go with Bagail over with additional other compression packing cubes like Cipway, nicoshow as well?

Over stuffing PD cubes like that kinda defeats it's purpose. Works better to have multiple small cubes.
PD cubes has two sides. One side for clean clothing. Other side for dirty. Then you compress it down if needed. If you can't then it is too stuff and should be split. Need some wiggle room to move things from side to side.

Just finished my 3 weeks in France and have come to the same conclusion that the PD cubes can’t be stuffed to be effective. The cheaper Bagail cubes had way more wiggle room for “stuffing” and compressing them. They ended up being my favorites after 3 weeks of traveling.

Technically they're not cubes unless they have 3 equal sides :)
