Ahh so it was BBC 3! Shocking and bullying predatory behaviour from a corporation on young people for views. Trying to stay relevant are we? These stories were NOT the same, neither did they have the same intention or relationship with the people who commented on their social experiment. I feel ashamed for you.
He was set up the same as Megan. This is disgusting. He said he's completely speechless, because he didn't know what the hell he was walking into. This girls story and his are two different situations.

Amyy I don’t know, from the sound of Megan’s story, I wouldn’t be surprised if this girl was also completely deceived and lied to by the production company too. Made to believe she was talking to a proper catfisher rather than a RUclipsr who conducted a super short experiment for a video (rather than a full-blown relationship).

I just came from his video on it, man, this was kinda messed up. He sent four messages back and forth with guys trying to get laid. She spent months talking to someone. I’m not sure how the BBC with all of it’s vast resources can’t tell the difference between the two. He was just seeing what people would say. She had a significant portion of her life stalled. Not even remotely similar.
Another youtuber called megan short was meant to be on this show too, she made a video where she slightly edited her tinder photos too see if it would attract more attention. She was asked to be on this show and was completely mislead into thinking they liked her video but they actually just wanted to make her feel bad about what she did. She just uploaded a video about her experience with BBC and what happened. Give it a watch.

Came here after watching Megan’s video. These two experiences are not the same at all..? What happened to her is horrible, but he just did a ‘hot girl’ experiment on tinder for an hour - he didn’t lead these men on for months. They exchanged no more than 2 messages, they weren’t emotionally invested. Just seems like they could’ve found much better people to have face the ‘consequences’ than Megan and this poor fella here. Think he handled it very well considering the BBC obviously lied to his face about what the video was actually about. They should face their own consequences for blatant manipulation and lying imo

Having seen Megan Short's video on how you catfished her to manipulate her into doing this interview under false pretenses, it really feels you've done the same to this man. Megan made a video on how easy it is to edit your videos. The most she did was put the "beauty" filter on and make her eyes brighter. She still was herself. She put them on Tinder to see if the "Instagram" body would get more attention than her normal pictures. She never replied to the boys. She was showing people how deceiving the Internet can be, she didn't catfish anyone at all. What she did had nothing to do with this episode. Yet, BBC 3 took advantage of her and manipulated everything. Thank god she said no to letting her clips be released. So disgusting

Matching with someone and briefly exchanging 2-3 messages is not an intimate experience. I’ve exchanged countless messages on Tinder and couldn’t recall them. His experience is not the same thing.

I was catfished when I was 19. I’m 33 now & only just starting to feel ‘less embarrassed’ about it. I did try to speak out about it at the time, but got ridiculed.
The ‘guy’ used a voice changer (ended up being a female my age, rather than the slightly older, ‘more mature’ guy he claimed to be), stole hundreds of pictures (quite literally), even went to Thailand on one of those charity trips to build wells & went as far as to phone me several times while abroad. ‘He’ sent me gifts, huge bunches of flowers, birthday / valentine’s / Christmas cards (to which I reciprocated), he was from Scotland & we spoke often about meeting.
I don’t think people who have never been in that position realise how clever some of these individuals are & how far they’ll go to manipulate & fool you, it’s all very gradual / casual. He completely destroyed my trust in anyone & even though I had a successful relationship for 17 months after that happened (& he knew all about it as he was also my best mate at the time before we dated), I’ve tried dating since & just can’t seem to do it. That trust was never rebuilt in my mind.
People need to seriously think before they start stealing others identities how it’s going to impact others lives that they come into contact with. It’s all fun & games until you really end up screwing with someone.

Heather B I’m presuming from your spelling & grammar you’re relatively young, so I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt. Until you’ve been on the receiving end of some disgusting degenerate stealing your photographs to lure unsuspecting people in, you don’t have a right to pass comment on what’s right or wrong. Our justice system is evolving all the time to adapt to the 21st century when it comes to laws potentially broken on the internet, it won’t be long before something serious is done to the perpetrators who deem it acceptable to steal other people’s photographs without their consent, especially when in use on dating sites to pretend to be someone they aren’t.
It’s not WHAT he’s done behaviour wise, it’s what he COULD’VE done, or continued to do after this show aired. When you steal other people’s images, it’s very apparent you only have one thing on your mind, & that’s to make up a false persona to lure unsuspecting individuals in.
You will never convince me, or anyone else, that his actions were remotely acceptable.

Most *adults* like to get to know one another before touching each other & jumping into bed with one another. One of the huge positives to meeting someone through online dating is that you get to know someone far more deeply than you *ever* would by meeting someone in a bar / pub / club. You’ll never, ever get to know what makes a person tick, their sense of humours, dreams & aspirations, learn about their family, life, hobbies all in the space of a few hours.
Not everyone is in a position to meet someone in real life, but of course, life experience & maturity teaches people that - something evidently you aren’t quite able to grasp yet.

My opinion about the BBC has plummeted after seeing this. Saw the emails to Megan from behind the scenes. You behaved as predators and twisted and manipulated the good will of a young woman. Absolutely disgusting behaviour and you should be ashamed. Slimy and cheap.

This is genuinely not even comparable.... He's not been pretending to be someone and lead someone on for a period of time. There are several videos no where people edit pics or use different pics to compare the responses, particularly on tinder, and that's more about bodyshaming and how shallow people are than actually pretending to be another person.

I admire Megan Short. The BBC is falling apart at the seams because it doesn’t hold the power it did 15 years ago. Now anyone can create their own content and people are choosing to listen to these individuals instead of production giants. This ‘conversation’ between Carla and Curtis isn’t a conversation but a biased ruse (as Carla clearly knows the format of conversation) to patronise those who create their own entertainment. The BBC is unraveling and its producers desperately need to gauge the 18-25 age bracket, otherwise they should start looking at employing Short. She provides better ratings than their own paid ‘creative minds’. Catfishing Vs Vigilante Tinder trials are two conflicting conversations.

Came here from Megan, this is disgusting BBC Three need to ‘Face the consequences’ how many people have they manipulated to appear on their show? Surely it can’t just be for this episode alone? They seem very good at lying and manipulating people. While this show may have had good intentions the people behind this show do not. Therefore the show needs to be taken of air and all episodes removed. The people who they have manipulated to take the blunt of each episode need a formal apology and are in their right to take further legal action if any damage has been done to them. If your going to make a show like this all parties need be clearly in the picture, the victims of previous incidents and the other who they are turning into cannon fodder. Absolutely disgusting and disgraceful how they have acted.

The bloke clearly said that he did it as a social experiment and never took it past a few messages...that’s NOT the same thing as catfishing, which historically occurs over an extended period of time, typically over months, and sometimes years.
If the BBC don't publicly apologise for this level of manipulation, I have a feeling there viewer rating is going to drop rapidly, wait till this spreads viral ... I hope the victims sue
