I love the bird-like sound of the clam gun going into wet sand. It reminds me of a bald eagle's cackle.
Also, the old man seems fun to hang out with.

As a kid in the 1970s, we walked, saw a hole, tapped it, if it squirted, you dug As fast as you could by hand, angling toward the ocean. After digging was over, you added corn meal to the bucked of clams to flush out sand inside the clams as they ate/injested it.

We used to do the cornmeal thing with steamer clams because old people told us to. Finally stopped and just let them sit in sea water for a while and never had an issue. It's an old wives tale and doesn't help at all afaict.

When you feel the crunch, stop and recenter the tube and dig it again and the clam will come out undamaged.

Is there a limit to how much you can harvest per day, and will you be doing a catch and cook?

Do you eat them or sell them?
