Jojo as a whole tends to be treated the same way as Dragonball in terms of scaling against other verses. Everyone thinks Jojo characters can mop up the floor with everything when pitting them against other characters because yes, their abilities are insanely broken, the same way people feel about Dragonball's characters and their insane strength. The problem is that people tend to overlook that sheer spectacle and small summaries of powers and abilities don't end the argument of who wins a fight, rather it just gives us a baseline for how it starts. Persona characters, Wild Cards in particular, can turn their will power into real power. Most of the major antagonists of Persona games are gods that were quite literally born out of the collective human unconscious. Persona users are simply the concentrated form of that same power, the same power that can birth gods of death, truth and control. That and the same power literally turned an ordinary person into a reality warping god in Persona 5 Royal. In terms of Jojo versus Persona, its not nearly as in favor of the former as people like to believe

Two things I have to say to this; one is that by this logic, Eggman should be able to have Infinite on his side since he was working for him both before and after he obtained the Phantom Ruby and there is no real evidence that Infinite was planning to betray him at all. About the Shin Megami Tensei canon to Persona thing, does that apply to every SMT and Persona out there or just this specific ones (SMT If and Persona 5)?
Well from my understanding, Persona is a Spin-Off of Shin Megami Tensei, an alternate universe where the first SMT game didn’t happen, and according to a Reddit post, only SMT IF, the Persona series, and the Devil summoner series (and potentially Catherine but that one is a lot more iffy) are canon, but technically things in SMT can be used if they don’t contradict events, statements, or actions in the Persona universe, sort of like using Eyes of Heaven for Giorno since nothing in the main source material (JoJo Manga he’s from) contradicts it.
21:57 Technically you were right to assume that Giorno would win because the fighting game that was mentioned is technically not canon so that would make it that Giorno would have won in the sense that if you not include the fighting game but also include that when Giorno beat up Joker that Giorno would have won at that point because i don't think that Joker would be able to think that fast to be able to counter Golden Experience Requiem because G.E.R. can act independently from the user like Death Battle said. That is my two cents on it but yeah to be fair it could have gone in Joker's way to win but personally from what i have mentioned that Giorno would have probably won.
even if some people disagree with the result of the match-up. The whole debate leading up to the episode was messy, which was why everyone was trying to hone their expectation because really this debate is heavily "up to interpretation" and its just that many people after seeing the death battle agree with the interpretation that Joker would win.
For real, like, I went into this video having played pretty much every game relating to Persona 5 and not knowing a thing about Jojo's besides Stands and yet the comments were the things to inform me that Giorno's Stand can't create life in Sub-Zero temperatures... even though they used that in the fight, they somehow didn't mention it pre or post battle analysis.
The way they decided on Giorno’s loss was kinda eh. They use the anti-feat from Eyes of Heaven when GER fought against DOH, but also use a clip of GER nullifying MIH in that same game to scale him to Pucci. Do you know what other stands were in that game? Valentine’s D4C, and Tusk Act 4. Both stands are affected by GER in that same game, yet they don’t bring it up here. By scaling GER to those same stands, it gets much higher. Also, I’ve seen some arguments for Joker casting status ailments on Giorno, but if Eyes Is Heaven is being used, one of GER’s moves ‘There’s No Road Ahead For You’ explicitly states the following: This ability can be activated even if Giorno is being hit or is caught in a combo with any attack that is not a Dual Combo Finish or DHA. *It is also capable of curing him of any afflicted status ailments upon activation.*
They did also not use most of the smt scaling for joker as well, smt horribly written compared to jojo but is absurdly more powerful. But this is right since if this logic is used then base jotaro should be able overwrite reality since he did that in eoh.
JOKER SHOULD HAVE LOST HE CAN'T BYPASS RETURN TO ZERO AND HE CAN'T ESCAPE THE INFINITE DEATH LOOP IF GER WERE A REALITY MANIPULATIONS STAND THEN MAYBE BUT IT'S A CAUSALITY STAND also if I'm correct (which I probably am) they also used a non-canon thing to downplay Giorno

cope, eyes of heaven may be non-canon, but it still had Araki's involvement with the story
cry about it
@@SuperMandibleclaw true but non-canon means non canon and Joker can't beat causality manipulation reality manipulation maybe but not causality and yes those are different things I prefer Persona 5 to JoJo's part 5 in every way aside from the anime adaptation and I'm including the protagonist Joker despite being a silent protagonist has infinity more personality than Giorno yet I'm removing my bias to tell the truth Giorno should have won the ONLY way Joker should win is if Giorno doesn't use Gold Experience Requiem
Well joker a trickster which he not affected affected by realty warping
The Non-Canon makes Giorno Multiversal. How is that downplay?
Plus, Joker has "Unshaken Will" which prevents his will to fight being altered or changed by Outside Forces like the Gods in Persona.
