  • In Korea and Japan, you can easily find triangular gimbap and riceball in any convenient stores.
You can buy many different kinds of flavors.
And it differs by the fills inside of the rice such as Bulgogi, Jeyuk, or something else.
Among them, canned tuna with mayonnaise called 'Tuna-mayo' is the most popular one.

😮OMG I was trying to shape a triangle with my hands because I don’t have a triangle rice mold and it just wasn’t it. 🤪😅 Thanks for the Tupperware idea as a mold. 😀🤙🏾

Hey just finding this now ans wondering if you can keep it overnight? Or even if you make it with freshly cooked cooked rice can you eat it the next day?

I wondered what the difference was between a japanese musubi and a gimbap and a big one seems to be that you put sesame oil in the rice! I have never tried that! I have all of these ingredients and totally will make this soon. The one thing I may do different is use japanese furikake to coat the outside of the ball since I have it on hand already. Please post more easy pantry recipes! Every day in CA, the news keeps getting more dire and it is like a ghost town outside. Huge lines at stores. I cannot get any toilet paper or canned goods anymore. So being able to make something with what I have already on hand is useful!

It's actually the same as 'onigiri' or 'omusubi'. Gimbap or Riceball(or fist-rice) is just a Korean expression. If you can't find any canned goods, you can also mix rice with furikake, and shape into a ball or triangle. And if the furikake runs out, just salt and sesame oil are also ok. Mixing with anything is fine. I hope it was helpful for you!! ^^ Oh, no... I didn't know it is already that intense in CA... I hope you to be safe, and I will make some easier things that you can make with what you can actually buy...

Felix the Kimchi well it depends on the day, but it is super hard to find rice! I am asian so that makes me panic a little. I still have some at home so hopefully will find some more in a couple weeks. The last time I went, only expensive or sweet things were left like fancy cheese, cake, ice cream, and candy. It’s hard to find meat or bread or basics like onions and potatoes. But I do have some things here like dried lentils, dried red beans, a little pasta, little rice, canned tuna, and condiments like ketchup, mayo, soy sauce, fish sauce, Kim chi. Some people have said eggs are coming back so hopefully I will be able to get eggs and milk soon! Most frozen and canned foods are gone but undo have a couple cans of spam of course and 1 bag of frozen peas and 2 cans of corn. I should be able to get green onions and parsley and herbs. I think fruit like apples and oranges are still available.

Felix the Kimchi oh one thing that is never sold out are all products labeled “gluten-free!” Lol! Now that corona virus is here, people are not eating keto anymore! I also have flour, sugar, yeast, and baking powder. I need more but it’s been hard to find regular flour too. I have been experimenting making hotteok. Also if you have easy German recipes to share, please do! I’ve always wanted to learn how to make spaetzle.
