Description:
🎧 Dive into our latest episode of the Advanced English Podcast where hosts Kat Teacher from the USA and Mark Teacher from the UK share their weekend routines and chores! This episode offers a unique glimpse into the everyday lives of people from different cultures, all while enhancing your English skills.
🇺🇸 Kat Teacher discusses her American way of tackling weekend chores. She talks about the need to catch up on cleaning after a busy week, starting with picking up things off the floor and clearing tables. Listen as she walks you through her process of vacuuming, mopping the tile floors in common areas like the kitchen and living room, and how she strives for a clean but not necessarily spotless home.
🇬🇧 Mark Teacher brings a British perspective to handling weekend chores. He describes his routine of tidying up, hoovering meticulously, including the hard-to-reach areas, and then moving on to kitchen chores. His detailed description of washing up, wiping surfaces, and taking out the bins paints a vivid picture of his quest for a spotless home.
📚 As they share their stories, both hosts break down useful vocabulary and expressions, making it a perfect learning opportunity for advanced English learners. Whether you're looking to understand cultural differences in routine tasks or aiming to improve your language skills, this episode is full of practical insights.

Love your videos. Gray job guys ❤❤❤
I am 50 yr old, still learning English. I am happy to find your channel.
My household chores starting by picking up off on the tables and sofas. I live in a simple house, so I just sweep, no vacuum or hoover and givee a surface a good wipe until the place is spotless. Then clean up the kitchen and do the washing up. Once all is done, i sit down on the couch for decompres, siping my tea and nibble the biscuits. ❤
Hope my sentences are correct 😊
Wow - thanks for writing so much and sharing with us! You did a great job! Many of your sentences are correct! The only main change I would suggest is: "I start by [picking things up off] the tables and sofas." :)
I do the chores when I don't feel like playing with my little kid. Chores became a breeze since I had a baby. Go for it!!
Haha that's a very good excuse to do them 😄
Thanks a million very nice points and explanation.for example the difference between clean and clean up,clear and clear up ...these are very nice points.

watching your videos for the second time
so that I can have these phrases in my own conversation with othera
and your videos about daily routine have consumed much of my time as I have watched them so many time repeatedly
Great job! Consistency helps a lot to continue to grow and feel more confident, thanks so much for joining us we appreciate all your hard work 🫶
that's a such interesting lesson.because it brings me back to the story. i think at the beginning i am kind of like Mark
very clean. like making sure the nooks and crannies in the house are cleaned and everything is spotless. but nowdays i am more like kate. just enough to feel clean .take it easy . i don't have to make myself exhausted
but i do really enjoy the moment when the house is just cleaned. that's really nice .
Thanks for sharing and well done using lots of the vocabulary from this episode! I think a lot of the time I aim for the 'bare minimum' and just make sure there's nothing on the floor, then finally it's time for 'a proper clean' and I clean deeply and get into all the nooks and crannies.
Thanks
You are amazing again
That's so kind! Thanks for being here with us once more!
Thanks ❤
You're very very welcome!
😊I'm a good girl 'cause I love cleaning and tidying my sweet home but I don't catch up on doing the chores at the week-end, I prefer to do a little bit of it every time I can. I enjoy a spotless home🌈and never bear to live in a tip🌟
Amazing sentences - well done! I think you have a good strategy - just do a little bit of cleaning every day and that way you don't have to tackle *all* the chores all at once!

Learning both accents from one channel. Unique idea.
Thanks very much! It seems like a lot of people are enjoying the format, and we plan to keep going with it into 2024 💪
Although I’m not a house-proud person, I often catch up on my chores like tidying up my stuff, doing the washing up, doing the laundry, mopping on the floor but not spotless.
Great job on catching up on those chores and thanks for sharing with us!
I enjoy watching your videos and have found them helpful in improving my English speaking skills. I do the chores every day, since I’m a mom of two, once I drive to school and let the kids, my routing starts at 8:00 AM. First I check what chore needs to be done, usually start doing the dishes. Then I wipe the floor off. Gradually more chores starts showing during the day.
Great examples! Thanks for sharing! That's always the way, you start doing 1 chore, and you notice 2 more than need to be done!
@@highlevellistening You guys are awesome, I’m glad I found this amazing explanation to improve my English skills ♥️♥️♥️ my best wishes! Thanks 🙏🏽

Hello, I appreciate your podcast.
Thanks for watching! We will see you soon for our next episode ☺️
Wow, I haven't imagined that the word hoover was from a company's name, of course, elevator as well. 😊😊 Okay! I'll keep it!!
It's super interesting where a lot of words come from!
Hoover, tipp-ex, UK
elevator, band-aid, coke (coca-cola), USA
Thanks for watching :)
Best lesson ❤️
Thank you!
thanks again
Always welcome!

Nice information
Thanks very much for studying with us!
Hi guys, wanna jump in just to say your pointing out little differences and small details in a phrase is definitely cristal clear and a breeze.
I need to catch up on a few episodes that I missed but I'm always "on your tail" 😅.
Love from 🇮🇹.
Hi Stella! Thanks so much for your comment - we definitely expected a lot of people to relax over the Christmas and New Year period, so well done for continuing to study when there are so many distractions around (like cake, panettone, cheese and wine!) :)
Oooohhhh yeahhhh, panettone is a biiigggggg and yummy treat (and threat) for me 😅😅😅.
Big hug
nice❤❤❤❤
Thank you! We're so happy you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much 😀
I liked this one the most : "My house is a bit of a tip". Can I use this in a conversation with an American?
I like this one too: Instead of saying "Could you please quickly clean up the room?", it sounds more stylish to say "Could you please give the room a quick clean?"
In America you’ll more likely hear “my place is a bit of a dump” for really dirty and “a bit of a mess” for less dirty (mess is American and British)
Thanks for listening!
Glad you’re enjoying the phrases!
❤
:) :) :)
❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉
Thanks so much for being with us!
@@highlevellistening thats my pleasure my teacher thnx for your reply you are so friendly appreciate that🙏🙏🙏🤗
I have a questions. What does mean "Once everything is off the floors and the tables"
"Once" is another word for "When" or "After"
- When everything is off the floor
- After everything is off the floor
- Once everything is off the floor
... these all have the same meaning! Hope that helps
HI Kat, Hi Mark. A question: How many episodes does each season have?
Good morning! Welcome, we’ve got about 20 episodes right now in season 1 and 9 episodes in season 2 plus some other styles of videos like speaking practice ☺️
I like American English
Can I download pdf version , if possible how can I do it. Because very useful phrases and expressions are full off
Yes! We offer all PDF content for all of our podcast episodes for members of our RUclips channel: www.youtube.com/@highlevellistening/membership then you’ll find it in our Members Only community posts.
What is the meaning of catch up?
"Chores" are the small tasks or jobs that you do often, especially in your home, like cleaning or gardening.
"Catch up" means to spend time learning about what has happened since you last talked with someone, or to do tasks that you have not had time to do before.
Hi. When you can share the transcript. When Can I download the transcript of this episode

We would be very happy to have you!
What is the meaning of your words "nice plug" and in what context fhis expression can be used?
Hello can I say having everything picked up istead of saying once everything is picked up
Great question!
You are correct! "Having" *can* be used as another way to say [Once / After]. You just need to change the sentence a little bit to be correct.
[Once everything is picked up] : [Having picked everything up]
It's important to say: "Having picked everything up" because I can understand that "Having" means "After / Once" here.
If you write it like you did in your comment, it's actually the passive voice, and could be a little confusing.
Hope that helps!
@@highlevellistening thank you so much. I really appreciate that you really care for answering us .thanks for your full illustration.
At the weekend.
On the weekend
Over the weekend.
Is there a difference?
Great question! They are all three very similar and mostly mean the same thing.
at the weekend: more common in British English
on the weekend: more common in American English
over the weekend: this one gives us a little more information for how long you spent doing something: usually all day Saturday and Sunday. both AmEnglish and BrEnglish but very common in American English
We went camping over the weekend. (We went camping for both days on the weekend)
hope that helps!
Thank you

I'm beginner but i inderstood what they say 😮😮😮😮😮😮 what mean this ???
That you're doing a great job!! Keep up the great work :)
good morning Kat & Mark from Egypte, you,re pretty nice coupl
🤩🤩
A plug means an advertisement on TV or radio, doesn't it?
A tip - место свалки мусора
In this case, yes, a “shameless plug” is when someone openly advertises a brand or a very good English podcast 😂 and mentions the brand in a podcast or radio interview or tv show
How much you love using phrasal verbs.... To make it more complicated for learners😂😂😂
Haha sorry! Native speakers love phrasal verbs in conversation, so we can't help it either! It's always best to study some phrasal verbs in a specific context (like the context of this episode is 'cleaning'), because it's much easier to remember than just memorising a list of phrasal verbs and their different meanings. :)
@@highlevellistening totally true👍
Hi, thank you for all the videos.I looked for the PDF but I couldn’t find
May I ask you to guide me please??
I do my chores as a servant of wife . What’s about you?
Thanks for sharing! Yes, we both do our fair share or household chores as well!
good evening ; sincerely , dont't you think that you need to have a shower after all those chores. indeed to keep a house clean is a very drudgery. I complain you
Probably a good idea to freshen up after all that cleaning!
Please It would be better if you spoke a little slower
Hi good morning! You might enjoy our intermediate and beginner English videos with a slower approach since these videos are geared to more naturally spoken English at a normal speed.
