I own an original CRX 91 since new, Never any mods etc and never seen a winter, Not one rust spot whatsoever. The most flawless car I've ever owned. I sometimes can't believer the fuss made over these cars though. I love it, but never thought that when I bought it. I had a kid give me a thumbs up when he drove by me last yr. I just laughed and waved. lol
Trust me I fully appreciate it already. I still have my 88 Si. Unfortunately it is only the USDM model but to it's credit the car is still running on the original engine. At over 350K miles and no major drivetrain work other than the clutch being replaced and two axles. It is a marvel in engineering.
Owned a '91 CRX Si Special Edition (Canada Only) - Vogue SIlver - black sill trim, same wing as in this video/AC/Single CD player/Leather steering wheel - a great fun, fast, economical car - bullet proof for years. Thanks for posting
So true about the typical kids that drive these CRX's. I can't tell you how many times I've had all kinds of kids do flyby's, kids reving their engines at the light, or cut off by would be speed racers when I am just driving at the spirited pace so easily achieved by this car. About the sunroof, well I have seen others with this problem and usually it is attributed to poor maintenance. Use clear Lithium grease on the rails as it adheres better and is waterproof and you shouldn't have a problem.
@brenth1979 BTW - sold it to a guy on the east coast (New Brunswick) who fully restored it, it was rust free as I cared for it really well - he did full paint, window rubbers, added correct JDM power mirrors and rear tray replaced with JDM rear seat... it looked perfect when done as he sent me photo's...how I miss my old CRX.
@jawbreaker480 In Europe its a 4 Seater, but the 2 rear ones are REALLY small. I would say its a 3 seater if the driver is tall. In some countrys its a 2 seater and tehres a toolkit box instead of seats
That "clicking" appears usually when B16 is way over 200k kilometers. I got 206000 but neither previous owner nor I believe that it is orginal "mileage". Forgot - I can hear my LMA's too but not as steady clicking rather from time to time. What's more to check: -Cracked plastic in climate control - around "hot-cold" knob -Is 1st gear of fan working? (easy fix - could be done with a spring from pen :) ) -Sometimes does not start when engine is HOT - Due to fuel pump relay failing
-oil leaks from around VTEC valve -worn out those springs holding VTEC parts (clicking noise when VTEC off) -"blue clouds" from exhaust and oil consumpcion as big as 1 liter/1000km -seized rear brakes And some others... You need bit of luck to find CRX in good condition... I got that luck :) Only 5th gear synchro is bit worn up...
-Rust over rear wheels -Rust around fuel cap -Rust at sunroof -water in trunk (check under spare wheel) -trunk lid not holding up -worn out 3rd and 5th gear synchros
Mine is "210000km", but both me and previous owner don't believe that this is real... It is a common practice to "correct" odometers when importing car from Germany... Mine CRX HAD rust problems but previous owner has repaired it (new fenders, new sunroof, painted whole car) There are many smaller things still to do and I'm trying to fix them one by one :) Like cracked plastic, little scratch, etc... Ah and it consumes over 100ml of oil per 1000km
@dohcef8si Its a cr del sol.. you have to accept its a crx but you are right, it oesnt fit the 2 other gens. i pefer 2nd gen anyways but the sol is also a nice car, more a sumemr sport cruiser then racing potential..
When I was a kid I thought that this was the coolest car. Always wanted one, but they stopped making them a long time ago in North America and The CR-Z isn't nice at all.
@jawbreaker480 buy one from someone old, never buy from idiotic teenagers who fucked it up. original is allways good and look for the rust. keep it clean ;)
