thank you :)
Love how you talked about the biology exam question. Could you perhaps make a video explaining-rather than answering - some 6 mark biology exam questions for GCSE (preferably Edexcel)?
And maybe for higher maths as it can be hard to understand the mark scheme sometimes
@@jessicaappiah1921 That's a really good idea, I will definitely make videos going through exam questions especially for Bio & Maths because those questions are phrased the hardest :-)!
Thanks for the tips! Do you give advice on when/how to start revising for GCSEs? How many months before the exams should you start?
Thank you for making this my first mock of year 10 was terrible
Same😭😭. Grade 3s-6
Dw everyone's first mocks are usually terrible
Samee
this rlly scares me but I'd get why my y10 mocks are in a week
Dw i flopped all my yr10 mocks
This video is just the motivation I needed to get through my mocks for next week. Thanks for the brutal but yet true things you said in this video, love your channels content.
I have my mocks coming up, before my GCSE’s. I’ve missed so much and you’ve helped me so much thank you. Sometimes I don’t really know how to catch up
I'm glad my videos help you! If you're struggling to keep up then be sure to plan your time effectively. Spend one hour each day learning something that you missed, and 1 hour doing something in the current topic you're being taught so you don't fall behind. Try to do all your homework in the week, so the weekend can be spent on catchup. Hope this helps! Be sure to like and share this video with friends to support my channel :-) x
Thank you so much ❤❤ sola for the relatable advice, I have achieved all 7’s for every subject besides an 8 for RS and getting a 6 😢in geography and hopefully inshallah I secure my grades to A’s and A*
Mashallah well done!
How did you revise for RS??
@@alyshahkinsella for RS the best advice is making mind maps on A4 massive paper for every theme and on key beliefs and each topic and once you’ve made it memorise and blurt from it, I was 1 mark away from a grade 9 so its possible to get a 9 from my method 😊
@@user-y1206 thankyou
We got such similar grades loool I got an 8 in geography and a 6 in physics but 7s I’m everything else 😕
@@user-y1206 Perfect thank you!
For the evaluate questions, have you got any tips to achieve the highest band of marks??
Thanks for your really useful videos! I found your channel whilst researching for my son who's just about to take his GCSEs. His teacher told me they don't teach them how to answer or revise above roughly a grade 6/7 level....they just don't have time, madness! So here we are researching it ourselves! I took my GCSEs in 1997 and only had a textbook to revise from, let's just say it didn't go so well 😆 All these wonderful resources that are available these days are just fantastic, people don't know how lucky they are having all this information at their fingertips 24/7, thanks so much!
I'm so glad you find my videos useful. You're right, we have so much access to free resources now that we can use to teach ourselves and get the best grades. Be sure to watch my Grade 9 series on my channel as I have specific videos on the different subjects. Best of luck to your son in his studies! :-)
What I do sometimes is summarise the textbook into notes and then I do an exam question, correct it then so I don't forget it I'll review it and make flashcards
Great way of revising. When you make the notes try to make them as concise as possible. This will help the information stay in your mind because you have to think more about the best things to write. Good luck 📊📊
so thankful i watched this video. slowly turning my grade around.
I failed most but yikes I’m back for my retakes with English and maths
Same
Thank you so much for all the useful tips! I love your channel so much, it’s so helpful 💗
Thank you so much! All your videos are super helpful and I love them
Glad you like them!❤
Another great video with very useful tips and advice x
Hi Sola, would you recommend to start revising in January?
And is there any way you could do a video on how to approach past paper questions?
Yep I'm going to make a series on answering exam questions and my technique! I believe that you should start serious revision for exams in March, but still revise now in terms of end-of-topic tests, revisiting topics you didn't understand before, etc. Just don't try to do intense revision from Jan because there's still 5 months before exams and you could burn yourself out
thank you, i got a 4 on my history test and im aiming for a 9. ):
Thank you so much for what you do you really have helped me so much even though I’ve only just done my first mocks.
For science in particular I don’t think my school are going to finish the curriculum fully in school. What do you recommend for not only revising science but first time learning?
I would say try to be quick with your homework, obviously still do it to a good standard, but don't spend too much time on it. Perhaps spend 1 hour each day writing your notes / flashcards for a subtopic in science. To get through the content more easily, I would defo recommend making notes from the videos - especially MyGCSEScience - that's how I finished the curriculum before my teacher did. There's also freesciencelessons videos which are good as well. Then after this 1 hour, go to revise a previous topic so you don't forget the past ones. Hope this helps!
@@SmileWithSola it does thank you so so much!! Keep up what you’re doing you’re really changing lives 😁😁
im in year 11 and got my gcses coming up and im honestly doing terrible eng 4 and 5s and maths a 5-6 and triple sciences were 9 -> 6 and 5 and 6 and computer science 5 and art 2/3 and history 3 right now im now working my ass off so i can do a levels pls pray for me - i could have got 7 and 8s but i was lazy and now i realised how screwed i am. pls helppp
Do every past paper, understand questions you got wrong, memorise answers. You got this!
thankyouuu for making this videos!!I wanted to ask did you go to any private tuition apart from going to school?
Hey! Could you give some advice for a year 11 who needs to cram a LOT of revision in really quickly and remember it?
I havent really focused on revision but I tried really hard last time to revise and still failed all but 1 of my mocks. I wont have another mock and I'm really stressing about it.
Blurtttt. I swear it helped me so much. Write what u know about a certain topic, then look at textbooks videos etc to fill in gaps. Prioritise what ur weakest at.
Look at ur previous mocks as well and see where u lost marks cuz u may do the same thing again in other tests. Maybe redo some of the questions from previous mocks and see how u improved.
Also an exam tip flick thru the paper before the test and write lil keywords somewhere in the paper so u don’t end up forgetting during the test.
@@M5FTZ thank you so much! I will try them out now :)
Hello ! Your videos are amazing and I was wondering if you have your reaction would you ever post it ? I think it’d be super motivating. If not no worries I understand !
Good luck with the revision! Let me know if you have any revision related questions 😃
Thank you so much for this!! it was really helpful. in my novenember mocks i have gotten bad grades but im tryna improve in time for may, Any more tips?
Good luck! Focus on one subject at a time and focus on the practice questions would be my advice. Hope this helps 😁🔥
Thank you Sola🙏
Amazing video . Can you do a video like this but for a levels now the jump from gcse to a levels is huge and I still have my gcse mindset idk how to catch up 🥰🥰?
If you put in the work now do you think there is enough time to get 7s and 8s or go a few grades up?
Yes, for sure! You still have a good 5 months to go so long as you revise effectively, you should be good!
@@SmileWithSola tysm i love ur videos ❤️❤️
she might sound harsh in this but sadly it's the truth, just accept it yr 11s and move on
what is the difference between the specifications for science gsce as there is a combined science one and also individual physics, chemistry and biology ones
Combined science is for people doing double science. The individual specifications are for people doing triple as it counts as 3 separate GCSEs.
cooked tbf going into yr 11. maths got a U science 2-1 english lang 3 english lit 1 and im predicted 4 in maths 4-4 science english 4s ☠☠
Hi Sola . Nice to meet you . I want a video on . Basically I study hard for my test and then afterward when I get the test paper at that point I don't understand any question . That's what I want video on . Please
I am 13 and I am not the brightest is it still possible to get seven and eights in my GCSEs if I work my socks off?
Yes you have a lot of time! Don't worry, you only have to start getting serious in year 10! :)
Definitely. I can tell you have a great mindset and thats the most important thing when it comes to GCSEs! 📊
damn that hurt fr
I'm so thankful for this video, I just did y11 mocks and I got grade 2,3s
Glad the video helped you! Be sure to like, share and subscribe to support my channel :-)
Miss he said he got grade 2 and 3s not 9s
Hey, do you know how to find specifications for sciences? Ones which you can tick off and are condensed into bullet points rather than whole booklets?
If you search something like 'AQA Combined Science Specification Checklist', pdfs should come up of ones people have already made. They also have some on this website called Tes, but you will have to make a free account first. Hope this helps and be sure to like, subscribe and share this video with friends if it helped you ❤✨
@@SmileWithSola omgg thank you!!!! I found exactly what i was looking for:)))
What were your predicted grades at the start of year eleven if u don’t mind saying
I had mostly 6s and 7s but 8s and 9s in sciences
I agree 👍👍
where can i get video guides for English Language?
I'm like confused I don't know what am doing wrong still when revising I watch videos and look at my weakest subject and topics and focus on them by reading them is that classed as passive revison then??Please could u help me I don't know what am doing wrong
You should focus more on doing flashcards and questions so that your revision is more active - this means that the info will stay in your brain for longer. Watch my 'ace your GCSEs' playlist for more important tips!
@@SmileWithSola okay thank u so much also for my past mocks I revised a lot but just managed to pass for bio as its my weakest
Do u have any tips to improve for biology

@@SmileWithSola going to watch it now thanks!!
Sola, I’m in year 11 and I just did my mocks and they were really bad, an average of about 4s and 5s. Do you think there’s enough time for me to get them up to 9s?
If you put work into it, I'm sure you can. I've seen a lot of videos where people are getting 5s in their mocks but their GCSEs are all 8s and 9s. Last year, someone for chemistry was just getting 5s in each semester and now this year the same person is getting 7s and 8s. It's just analysing your weaknesses and practicing, you got this
@@lolly6395 thanks for the encouraging words :>
As Lolly said, you definitely have time. You have over 5 months left before your GCSEs, if you put in the work and study effectively, you can definitely improve your grades a lot. You've got this!
@@everythingokay9772 Ofc!
i also did pretty terrible in my mocks and because of that my predicted grades are mostly 6/5s which really saddened me, luckily all of these videos are motivating me to get off my arse and actually start working. i wish the best of luck to you and sure you'll do really well with the current mindset you have. don't worry it's pretty common for people to underperform in their mocks because lack of past experience
How did you get a 9 in history

thank you so much!!

im on a 3/4 in maths right now and i need a 6. What do i do?
are you at a 6 yet
i got my first mock results and i got a 2 in history and a 3 in english :( can i still pass next year?
How do i revise with adhd?
I'm in yl11 and 5 months still gcse
i need this
Do you think making notes is better
Yes making condensed notes is very useful.
Yeah I believe notes are really important for understanding, especially difficult concepts! See how I make Grade 9-quality notes in this video: ruclips.net/video/fcSuKyyckfc/видео.html
good video
hii~~~ I was wondering what you got in your mock exams? i’m generally a grade 8 student (all my predicted are 8s) but recently i’ve done horribly in my mock exams (my first year 11 mocks), because of my insomnia and the lack of support i’ve had from my teachers- i start procrastinating during the exam and my brain completely turns off. do you have any tips on how to cope with this? i’m scared that i wont be able to meet or exceed my target grades for the actual exams and i know that there are only 5 months left. do you think that i’ll be able to improve by then? and thank you sm for these videos- they genuinely help so much!! 🫶🫶
Hi! So I don't remember my exact grades because it's been a while but I know that I got some 6s,7s and 8s, nothing like what I got in my actual exams. You have over 5 months before your GCSEs which is about 150+ days. This is totally enough time to turn things around, your grades right now don't define you! They only show what topics you need to put more work in. Try to get help with your insomnia as not having enough sleep is a key reason as to why you're losing focus. Treat the exam like a game, where you're trying to get the most 'points' in the quickest amount of time. Any question you don't know then fold the corner of the paper and come back to it. Just try to maximise how many marks you can get by using this method and by making it somewhat fun. Hope this helps! Be sure to like, subscribe and share this video to support my channel :-)
