Small hack for installing new bearings, toss em in the freezer for a bit before you go to press em in. I am a massive fan of older DH bikes and love seeing old war horses getting some love with the intent to be ridden again!
The geo on that bike looks scary. You probably better off with one of your bigger full suspension bikes at the bike park than that thing, but it does make for good content.
I used to ride this type of geometry and I didn't die, even worse 10 yrs prior I had a GT hardtail with the geo of a gravel bike and I was entering DH events locally... We didn't "Bender" gaps but it was ruff still...
@@LaurentiusTriarius just because you didn't die doesn't negate the fact that his modern Enduro or even all mountain bike will be safer and faster than this bike. I have been there too. I went from a 68 hta bike to my current 62 hta hardtail and dh bike. My bikes went from 68, 67, 65, 64, 63 to finally 62.
Ive got the SIX3 and building it up with bits and pieces I've sourced off other bikes - selling the other bits i dont use to recoup money spent. Now bought myself a 06 Torrent and mixing and matching parts and its working out for me prett well. Two bikes that have cost me $30 to date.... 😂
I bought that exact bike new for christmas 2007, absolutely loved it. I did have some nicer parts on my Norco DH team 2004 that I swapped out. Marzocchi 888 and better shock (can't remember exact one) and juicy 7's I would love to have it back for a weekend, just to see...
I have a very similar bike to this I’ve done a 2008 reimagined kinda theme on. It’s a 2008 ironhorse freeride bike, over several years sourcing different wild parts it’s almost done soon. Maybe snowshoe this year, I live in WV.
I don't know the size off the top of my head but here's a link to the kit. www.enduroforkseals.com/products/rear-suspension/suspension-pivot-bearing-kits/SBK-NOR2.html
@@AdrenalineIsLife I wondered if you still had it. It was way beyond my abilities at that time to take on that project. Probably still is as DH isn't in my foreseeable path.
Cool resto. There is a special magic that only DH bikes possess. I'm glad you found that magic.
I think you hit a winner with this video series!
Thanks!
That bike is built like a tank . Its crazy how far bike frames have come in such a short time. Nice job replacing those bearings.
It's so very different from modern DH bikes but it's so fun. It should last forever too.

Thanks! I'll try that next time.
Nicely done so far!
I love new pivot bearings, it’s like that first time you out on new socks! If I was a millionaire I’d never wear the same pair of socks twice, Lol.
I agree with this statement! 😀
Use a old handlebar as leverage for tight bolts :)
Today i fixed a cheap bmx bike, not exactly on the same level as this but it was my first time taking a whole bike apart and it was fun
Nice build! Love the memes
Thanks!

Modern bikes are definitely more capable, but this bike is a blast to ride.

Great video! What bearing press is that and do you recommend it?
I look it up and post up a link. I got it off Amazon. It works fine if the bearings are easy to reach, but I had to do a lot of improvising.
Oops forgot about this. Here's a link to the press amzn.to/3QLyR53

Haha. That's awesome! I love when you can do up a bike for next to nothing. Solid bikes too.

They don't make em like this anymore. I love riding old bikes every now and then.

It's getting hard finding old downhill parts but Ironhorse used to has some cool bikes. Good luck on your restoration!
@@AdrenalineIsLife thanks brother!
Have exactly same bike with good parts on it but need bearring kit link or whats the size of bearings next to bottom bracket
I don't know the size off the top of my head but here's a link to the kit.

What size this hub my friend 242 or 148
how did you remove the bottom pin to get the spring out?
Are you talking about coil spring on the shock?
That HTA looks scary. Do you happen to know the original specs?
Not off the top of my head. The HTA was 64ish if I recall. Reach is very short. These older bikes require a slightly different riding style.
@AdrenalineIsLife oh ok just how the frame was being held. It looked more like XC style like 69ish. Lol. 64 is pretty slack still.
i need the same frame u working on i have some monster forks want to try out ,bc
Perfect frame for the Monster forks. I think Boostmaster is running something similar. Norco A Line. If I recall correctly.
Really good vid
but
what bike is at 0:28 ????
Thanks. TBH, I don't know. It's a stock photo. Looks pretty cool, though.
I bought a Norco Atomik a-line 2007 at the start of last year. It was a super sweet bike but the wife made me sell it to buy my current ebike
Bummer! It's such a fun bike. But happy wife happy life. 😀
What size this hub my fiend 148x12
150x12
Don’t use thread lock with nylock nuts ever again.
What’s the problem lol
😀 I know it's redundant. It already had thread lock residue on the bolt, so I just went with it.
LOL 250 buys like 2 parts 😊
🤔
This one's been a long time coming.

@blairrobinson9612 Yeah I kept it. I had a big backlog of projects and obligations. Glad I finished it but IDK how often it'll get ridden.
