I've played this game at least weekly since launch and have logged many hours as a solo pirate. Playing as a solo does NOT have to be a lonely experience. Every server has up to 6 ships, and each ship can have 1 to 4 players. Interacting with these other players will be your greatest source of content in this game. You can alliance and work together for a common goal or you might battle it out over loot. Even if you form an alliance, anyone can betray anyone at anytime. It's all fair game. The loot in Sea of Thieves isn't yours until you've sold it. That's the real risk and real reward.
Just started playing this week. Took me like 90 minutes to stack about 20k worth of loot, had to dodge other ships the whole time and nearly sank againt a kraken. Loving every minute, theres nothing like the honeymoon period with a new game
Awesome! I have been playing for almost 2 years now and racked up about 2k hours, it's always nice to see new people try out Sot. If you want to get better I would recommend watching RUclipsrs like cliff the story guy, phuzzy bond and theb, Watch out for toxic players and don't let them discourage you from enjoying the game like I did and still am!
Skull and bones doesn’t have PvP really and you control a different ship then your friends not as fun. And that animation where u spam triangle is shit
@@m1_1911 facts, uber-toxic community 99% of the time. I just avoid other ships at all costs unless I can see they're phantom ships or skelegalleon. Other players aren't worth interacting with 99% of the time imo but that's just me. Not trying to be rage baited at my own expense just so some 6 year vet can have their cake and eat it too.
@@zimrulezlotrrocz Its not always toxic. I have been playing this game for a couple of years and I have had a lot of wholesome moments and interactions. I have even met a friend on SOT and I still play with him every weekend.
I have 2,300 hours on this game and I have to say that at face value this game seems like it's very simple but as you play more and more you realize that there is a ton of very intricate mechanics and strategy.
@@fabibjoernNaval combat is very complex, you have to take into account wind direction, sail direction, ship speed, ship positioning, different areas of the map might have rougher waves and others calmer, different types of cannon balls, how to use the harpoons in combat or to maneuver the ship, boarding enemy ships, and finally stealing loot.
@@fabibjoernif you’ve picked it up and played it so far, you’ll notice it’s REALLY slow at first as the guy mentioned in the video. You have to spend a few hours leveling up to get to the better stuff. Your main goal is to hit reputation 50 in the main three factions, gold hoarders, order of souls and the merchant alliance. Once you do that, you unlock way more stuff, multiple other factions, and a tooooon of cosmetics to grind for
I have about 400 hours in this game, and about 200 or so of those hours are with my mom. From getting her into a game like Dead by Daylight, to moving her over to a game like Sea of Thieves has been an absolute treat, and although I don't have a lot of particular memories in those hours, it's so cool that his game is absolutely for everyone if they want it to be. I can see this game being here for the next half a decade at least, and I as well as the rest of us could only hope for more. Sea of Thieves is one of the best pirate games out there, and a treasure of a game overall. I'll always remember the time my cousin and I came across a galleon of an open crew, and there was some discordance between them from the moment we met them. We ended up getting two of them to MUTINY the rest of their crew and join our galleon as a 6 man crew. Absolutely wild, and will always put a smile on my face when I think of it. This game will create moments you didn't expect to happen, even though they very well could happen. I cannot give Sea of Thieves anything less than an 8/10 in 2024.
@@Calaveravicheck out Hitbotc, Phuzzybond, Captain Falcore, Burbs, and ANYTIME you do a Tall Tale, you HAVE to watch Rare Thief. Their guides are truly life savers.
I have close to 3,000 hours in this game. One of my favorite games of all time. To anyone on PS5 that is wondering if they should get it or not. Ask these questions. 1. Do you like open world games? 2. Do you like teamwork? 3. Do you like being able to do whatever you want whenever you want to? 4. Do you like working out puzzles? 5. Do you like working with other players to complete common goals? 6. Do you like roleplaying? 7. Do you like slaughtering everyone in sight and taking all of their hard earned loot and supplies? If the answer is yes to any of these SOT is for you. There is so much to do in this game, it is not the same as before. It used to be a shell of a game, but not anymore. There is SOOO much to do. If you answered yes, get the game try EVERYTHING out, not just pvp or pve or one part of the game. And give it some time. Trust me, once you get the handle of how the game works, you'll be addicted. Thats what happened to me, I hated this game the first week I played, but once I got the hang of it and could hold my own, I haven't been able to put it down since. Hence the 2800 hours I have. Trust me, this is a great game. You just have to give it a shot to show you.
I came back after leaving the game in 2018. Now im in love with hourglass. The new voyages. Played solo sloop last night and sank 3 galionns, 1 brig and a few sloops with my guild flag. Was so much fun to have noobs on the server
@@Amm17ar yes. You can be stupid and goof around and hang out with friends. This game is awesome, you just have to find what you like to do. I won’t say it will be your favorite game, but you can find fun in it!
Finally! Thank you guys for talking about this game again! Several years of updates, new stuff, some back-end engine stuff, they even added a new lighting system post launch and recently added ship shadows on the water! This is easily my favorite game of all time. I've met some incredible people, and it's a great way to spend time with my friends. Sea of Thieves is a special place to me so I'm so glad you guys went back and gave it a little bit more love!
I played this game at Launch 6 years ago and returned for my 3rd time in the last Season. This is clearly played in a Safer Seas Server, where you're essentially offline with just your crew and ship. The High Seas servers can have up to 5 other player ships out there. There's so much depth to this game that this video doesn't even cover. PvP is a constant worry. People can just take everything you've worked 3 hours for. I love this game. "But hey, it's a Before You Buy." 😉
yeah he's presenting this game as a fun, colorful pve game you play with your friends. this game is crap without the pvp, i don't have any statistics but i bet people who play safer seas just end up quitting the game.
@@jal-kx6tmnah man, PVE is the majority, there's a reason the devs added Safer Seas. The only reason people would quit is because Safer Seas is trash due to nerf on how much you earn.
@@jal-kx6tmI think its just tastes. Personally, I think high seas actively hurts alot of the content thats actually there. You're too busy getting your shit kicked to do any quests. They made the right call having it be something you can connect and disconnect from. Cause there are times when thats fun, but if thats all it was itd fucking blow
@@justacheesecake6232 see you're proving my point. they're not going to let pve give as much rewards as pvp, then no one would have any incentive at all to do pvp. if you need good rewards (which don't even really give you anything beyond bragging rights) to do an activity, that means it's not fun on it's own. even with friends, just doing pve is not a fun time beyond the first few times after the novelty wears off. i've tried to do that and it's insanely boring. even just going from point to point is insanely boring. i've played from launch too and the structure of this game only makes sense if it's a pvp game. otherwise it's the most boring pointless game ever. it's literally all just fetch quests with very long transit times. i'm going to go out on a limb and say that the people here saying pve is fun have not been playing the game for a significant amount of time.
Sea of Thieves will always have a special place in my heart due to one night of playing after enjoying some devils lettuce, and jumping into a public server all by myself and proceeding to engage in sword combat with a random person. Only for it to end with me sheathing my weapon, pulling out the banjo, and playing some 1812 overture. This was followed by him pulling out the accordion and playing along. This was also followed by 3 other completely random people, each taking turns pulling out an instrument, and playing along. We played at least 20 minutes of songs together. It was hilarious. It was beautiful. It was by far the best buzz I’ve ever had. I still think about them to this day and hope they are well. If you seriously made it this far, thank you. Go enjoy sea of thieves ps fam.
day one player here, combat is anything but simple. you pretty much reviewed safer seas in this video and didn’t even touch on the pvp or “thieves” aspect of SoT. it’s incredibly complex and and strategic when it comes to PvP/adventure naval battles. you only talked about 50% of the game.
He's a low experience pve only/not caring about progression type of player.. of course he has no clue about most of the game. Didn't touch on barely any of the things you can do because the last time he played, all there was to do was basic island quests. Typical pump out content without getting all the info first kind of youtuber
To be fair there is so much depth to this game, I was really worried for a while that he want to mention tall tales. When the back catalogue of “adventures” go on demands there will be even more to do. One of the things about SoT is that you can very easily find people to play with from the wider community. It’s best not to just go on Open Crew though
As a solo sloop captain, I kind of have fun with the whole wandering alone thing as opposed to sharing my ship with another person that I haven't played with before because you never know when you're going to have that one rando that leaves a banana on your stove until everything catches fire. Not saying that all randos you find in MM are like that, but as Sir Michael Caine's Alfred once put it, "some men just want to watch the world burn." It's nice to make new friends sometimes, though
Sea of Thieves is an Epic game!!! Ive played since lauch and I've been into it for 5 year none stop playing every single day after work almost all night and I never Found any moment boring (some frustrating for sure but never boring)! Theres always a new approche to strategie or encounters you can betray, be friendly or straight up raise the jolly roger and be chaos on the sea. Each night was a different story. I've met one of my Best friend on a open crew sloop and we have been sailing togheter everyday since 4 years now!! We have so many stories, we have met so many funny people and have spent more than 100 millions each for sure in cosmetic ! One thing I will never forget, once I receive news about a familly member dying, and let the game open... when i came back all my ship was looted and burning down.. I told the other crew that i left my ship because of that news and they actually fixed my ship , gave me back my loot and stock up my ship with supply so i could change my mind and continue my adventure!! Sea of thieves can be rough and toxic but from my experience its a small part of it. Thers are alot of nice crew ready for a good fight. My avdvice, dont trust anyone too fast, always keep your hands on your blunderbuss ;), angle your sails and be patient for the right moment to canons em! Sea yall on the ferryman and thanks to gameranx crew for all the good stuff they create!
Sea of Thieves is a game all about making stories about encounters with other players, friendly or not; sinking big ships and seeing all the loot rise up from the water making the server lag, or gathering a bunch of strangers and sharing stories, farming world events, or doing something like the Glitterbeard ceremony. It is also *much* more dependent on having friends than most other games. If you want a solo PVE experience with no-one bothering you, or if you take games competitively, stay away. Do not buy the pirate game and expect people to leave you alone. And do not take it competitively, because the game is unreliable and unstable, and the devs do not take competitive PVP in mind, which is painfully obvious.
I'm part of a small friend group on a Discord server and every other main active person on the server (4 of them not including me) except for me plays this game together multiple times a week, but I couldn't because I only own a Switch and a PS5, but now that it's on PS5 I can join them, and one of us will have to sit out each time now 😅 at least one of us is usually busy often enough that it shouldn't be too big an issue I think. This game is really fun I've already gotten a look for my pirate that I really like so for now I'm gonna save up for a ship of my own. The characters you can make in this are seriously such a great part of it. One of my friends pirates feels like a celebrity among the group he's so iconic lol.
trust me once you in the game nothing is simple. From players swimming 2 islands away to your ship to steal a particular chest or having the most chill session of your life with PvE and suddenly the whole server turn on you and wants u sunk to having dedicated roles on the ship which are only assigned between ur group. Game is just giving you the tools and you can use them as you like basically , they dont take your hand and walk u through what u can doo
I’ve been on and off with this game since day 1!! Preordered on Xbox, bought on PC, and now PS5. This game is pure magic and some of the best time I have spent with my Brother. I love Sea of Thieves, and love the new breath of life this has brought, with all the amazing changes that are fresh with it. Can’t wait for the next few years with this game!!
As someone who’s been playing since the release, this game is jam packed with so much to do now. This game can be exciting and frustrating at the same time. If your ship gets attacked and you loot taken down not quit. Keep playing! I now play it with my 8 year old and he’s better than I am now. This game is absolutely one of my favorites games ever!
I’ve been playing solo for the past couple of years and have a ton of fun with the game. Sure it’s a lot harder being alone but there’s still a lot of fun to be had. Really glad PlayStation players get to enjoy it now too.
Last night I tucked a crew's brig for a solid 15 to 30min before I got reckless and they spotted me, they were new PS5 players and super chill. We had a good laugh and I went on my way. The player interactions are so fun in this game *as long as they arnt toxic and happy to chat before doing pirate things :)
Most immersive pirate game in my opinion. No pirate themed game comes close to the attention to gameplay detail. No auto pilot, minimal linear gameplay. Full exploration and full control of your character and ship.
To all new players on PS5 id like to extend a warm welcome to the community. As a long time player who played the alpha and has the Brave vangaurd sails and title and played 90% solo up to pirate legend and only plays every few months or so these days i truly hope you enjoy your time in the sea of thieves. Dont let anyone tell you how to play the game, if you want to PVP and be a pirate fighting other players and stealing their loot then do it! If you want to have a server wide alliance that all sells loot together to make a ton of gold the DO IT! Play your way and just HAVE FUN ❤
I gotta say, the game is unique. Whether you play in the high seas, or solo PvE. It is a incredible experience. I suggest the high seas with friends to increase naval battle frequency and/ or random crews. But EVERYTHING about this game is fun and polished. It is such a good sailing game with tons of cosmetics, unexplored places and mysteries to discover. I think many of us veterans get bored with PvE content and get sweaty brawling with other people. That doesn't mean the open world that RARE has created is shallow or PvP focused. It can and cannot be that way. You could easily loose hundreds of hours sailing around doing missions, tall tales, gathering treasure, or just fishing. It has a atmosphere that no other game has. It is magical in the most unexpected ways when you delve into the island hoping, sailing, looting and fierce naval battles. It is really something worth your time.
New player here. I decided to try pvp servers for the first time last night. The very first time I tried to turn in loot I was ganked by 4 guys and lost everything. I’d suggest new players start on pve servers. I like the game but I won’t be back to pvp
I’ve played it solo for 3 years now, feel like that one guy in one piece just quietly sails around and destroys ships that get in my way or challenge me
@@jihnjohncayna Try to engage PVP as much as possible, don't rage quit if u lose, take it as they're just better than you, learn from how your enemy plays, and be better (ladder tricking, snip cannoning, etc). At the start, you will find it difficult u should play in a reaper open crew adventure server to learn the basics then slowly transit to hourglass solo PVP, soon you'll see yourself getting more and more wins 😊
This is definitely my favorite game as a service. Unique in every way. Not a shooter, it's a first person adventure to create stories to share with your friends.
I think it needs to be noted that if you don’t care about cosmetics then your fun in sea of thieves will end very fast because you’ll quickly learn cosmetic is the only purpose for the game. (Along with the story) And when you’ve already got a desired outfit and ship design you lose purpose in playing. That being said, the foundation of this game is beyond perfection, no game comes close and sea of thieves is within a genre of its own. I personally wish the game was a true RPG which gives me more purpose than cosmetic. I’ve done the story and I’ve got a cool outfits so there’s no reason to play anymore.
Yeah my gripe with it as well.. To create your own base would be interesting, a fortress with npc’s and defense systems.. Might be a good way to spend money.
@@Timbermannetje honestly these ideas are great, I just want something to spend my money on. Something beneficial ranging from simple cooked food at the tavern to buying ammo boxes and weapons all the way to base building. I don’t even pay for grog, they give me infinite refills lmao. The game makes no sense to me. I’m stealing money with nothing to spend it on. I spent hours doing cargo runs just to get a commendation and an outfit, that’s when I realised this game was a waste of time.
I got Game Pass a few years ago with my Series X and decided to try this game (which had never been on my radar before). And... it's one of the best games ever made, imo. I hope that now, with its availability to a wider audience, it receives the love it deserves. The sense of wonder it evokes is truly unique. The balance it strikes between realism and a cartoony style goes beyond mere art; you can feel it in the gameplay, especially in its somewhat realistic navigation of the world and map reading. And let's talk about the water-it's the best I've seen in a game, maybe? I only played it for a bit, though, as I'm mostly a single-player gamer (yes, you can still enjoy it solo and have a great time!). It's not the type of game you have to play for 3000 hours continuously, but you can come back to it anytime! The world is full of surprises and richness, and the mechanics are fantastic. Plus, the interactions with other players can be super exciting. Just be careful not to lose the contents of that chest you worked so hard for-it can get stolen right under your nose, and your ship can sink! The developers keep adding new content, story quests, and gameplay possibilities, and it deserves more attention from ongoing game awards. I used to stream and play with folks, and it was cool to work together on the ships! Now, I'm itching to go back to the seas! P.S.: What would I give for Rockstar to make a Pirates game..
I’ve been gaming since 2000, been playing SoT since 2021, it’s my most played game ever, and in at least my top 3 favorite games of all time. It shines when playing with buddies, and I regularly sail with buddies from college. The interactions with other crews is like no other game I’ve played. I love this game, and so happy PlayStation players can experience this gem.
I have 150 days on this game , three tips for new pirates , dont get bent out of shape about loot its never yours till ya sold it, never trust another player, use your mic, a silver tounge can change the course of many interactions
Been playing this sense launch on PC I love it. It's simply the best sand box "fuck around" with buddies game ever so fun and chill and stressful all at once. Can recommend it enough. One little thing id say is definitely play with friends
The Sea of Thieves was fun when I did have friends that played this when it was released. Games that are broken at release, are a lot more fun when not patched. Still to this day, Friday the 13th the game, will always be the best multiplayer experience I've ever had. And trust me, that says a lot when it comes to games of any sort. Try me, lol
SOT is a vibe, and a very good one at that if you ask me. All the content is free and because of that it's the only game that I ever used microtransaction to buy cosmetics.
Ive wanted Sea of thieves on PS for the longest time. So much so the game was a big reason i wanted a pc, just to play it. So of course they release it on PS5 a year after i got my pc. But I’m glade its on PS, just a little too late for me.
Something to note is the FoV caps at 90 FoV (which is 74 in most games because it uses a different method to calculate it). This may not be a problem for most people. But for me at least it gives me headaches. It's a real accessibility issue, and I suspect it has something to do with why I don't perform so well in PvP. Even so it hasn't stopped me from logging a couple hundred hours on it in the year or two I've had it
Honestly ive really enjoyed playing on high seas with other groups of people on a galleon. Ive only been playing since the 30th but its been great so far.
Fighting skellies is the most basic combat in the game. They're just there to slow you down while gathering loot. PvP and ship warfare is really where the combat is focused.
As a day one pirate, I still recommend this game it’s perfect for a group of friends I’m older now and have a kid now so I can’t set aside for hours on the Seas but I still watch SoT content and I miss it
It's not a bad game, but it's not the most exciting if you're a solo player. I played back when it released and with so little content at the time the pvp was going nuts and the toxic people were every but now you can sail for hours and not really worry about getting jumped for the 7th time in a row.
Yes it is worth playing. Even if you don’t have any friends to play with. Linked up with 2 randoms last night. They taught me a ton & I really enjoyed playing with them.
I’m a day one beta player and have just jumped back into the game with friends on ps5 the games still just as good as ever maybe even better than before so give it a go guys n girls could be the game for you
Great game but needs a sequel! That improves on everything! One thing I think they should do is instead of having one huge map, have 7 seas that are all different biomes. They’d each be half the size but the maps would be fuller and the servers would be able to handle more going on and bigger crews for ships. Sword gameplay needs reworking too because guns and throwables are essentially the primary weapons and swords are secondary’s which they shouldn’t be. Boarding ships needs to be harder and require certain mechanics that can be countered like swinging ropes, boarding planks and harpoons. It has never been about broadside battles, training the enemy, constantly swimming to the enemy that’s following is what everyone does and it’s boring. There needs to be an assist system during broadside battles the same way there is when going up against ghost ships so everyone can partake in a battle without worrying about your ship only being lined up for 3 seconds or having your ship run into a rock because you cant multitask 5 things at once. Quests are also boring, not rewarding enough and too long/easy. For all the hours that they want you to sink into the game the rewards are extremely lackluster. Also in what world does a pirate not just simply keep his gold? The whole selling your treasure idea is extremely un piratey. Pirates either hoard their treasure in a cove or bury it. Also selling your treasure is the most time consuming and frustrating part of the game. When it should be the most rewarding. The fact you can’t use two hands to pick up two items is so frustrating. I love this game, I love the simplicity and beauty and I want it to succeed but it feels like it was made by people who are new to game design. Also under deck cannons should’ve been a thing from the beginning and it’s crazy we’ve never had any. Ship customization needs to be more than cosmetic so we actually have something cool to grind for. I’ve never hated a game I’ve loved so much.
The graphics are very nice and vibrant, especially for a 2018 game and I absolutely loved the way the sea looks. The thing that really bugged me was the fact that you can spend hours getting lots of hidden loot and treasure which is actually the fun part, only for it to all be robbed and pillaged by another team. That can be disheartening to say the least.
this is season 12, so that means there has been , like 12 previous content drops no jake, if this is season 12, there have been 11 previous drops 11 before 12 jake, please
The may 6th update broke the game. Before the update me and my ps5 buddy could sail for hours and hours and now he cant stay connected for more than 2 minutes. If youre buying (as of the 9th of may) maybe wait till rare hotfixes the very very well documented connection issues.
Started playing Sea of Thieves last year to put my Xbox to some use lol and I have ZERO friends with an xbox so I’ve been longing for this release ! Controversial take: I’m going to start from scratch instead of linking my account 🤭 let the journey unfold again
Please please please do a before you buy revisitation of Elder Scrolls Online, after the newest content drops, Gold Road. I think a lot of people are still sleeping on that game, and it's evolved so much from launch, with so much content to do within the game!
As a big fan of this game, I think you hit the nail on the head. Tough to play solo, but with friends this game shines. The PvP is something that can make this game more enticing, just takes time to get good at. It makes your adventures on the sea a bit more fun....or frustrating if you get wrecked lol.
PC user here playing SOT since 2020, This game is a masterpiece in every aspect, Gameplay, Graphics, Art, Story, Sounds,Music.... just everything you do, but one major flaw in this is Combat the PvP is extremely unbalanced, other than that... if youre buying the game go for it, its worth it
I played back a little after it was first released and thought it was fun but was missing some things that would have rounded out the game. I actually played around the start of this year and had a blast. The quality of life improvements was amazing. What you can do now is so much better and more streamlined. I have heard some of the new ideas they plan on doing and some of them were very interesting but others are going to make the game much harder on the PVP side. I like the knife, ziplines, and the ability to walk on rope. All those are great things to add. The two things that I feel that are going to not be very good are the grappling gun and the Davy Jones world ship. I do like the idea of the grappling gun because it can make going around islands much easier but I know that PVPers are going to make my life a living hell with them. Honestly the worst part about this game is that once someone gets on your ship and downs you the game is over for you. The other thing is the World Ship that's going to cause a lot of problems. So the World Ship is a big ship everyone fights over and its supposed to be really strong. The problem is again that PVPers are going to be able to take control of that ship and basically ruin the game for everyone else. The grapple gun and world ship aren't going to be out for a while.
Love playing this game. had it on Xbox and now on PC. Great to play online with friends and a few drinks. the online community is increadable and make starting out a lot of fun. definitely recommend
Finally, Sea of Thieves content! The complexity of ship to ships PVP battles is the only thing you missed. It’s super exciting and the longer you play, the more tactical and epic those ship to ship battles become. There’s a learning curve. And you will be sunk a lot. But the thrill of winning. Or engaging in a sneaky theft…. There’s nothing like it in gaming. Enjoy PlayStations users!
Can you get into this game brand new for xbox and PS5 players? PS5 players wants to play it with Xbox player, both new. Or will we get obliterated with experienced people in crossplay?
A bit a both, in the early days the community was really fun to meet and play with. Over time the toxicity increased and made it unbearable to have fun and join friends. But these most recent seasons they have been working on getting new players back in to enjoy it while keeping toxic players from spoiling it
I still have my fair share of issues with this game, but there’s nothing quite like it! I don’t play it constantly but I do return to this game every few months and play it a TON for several weeks.
Disappointed you didnt mentioned PVP at all. For many, this is what the game is about! Combat in SoT appears simple on the surface, and in many ways, it is. The learning curve is essentially flat with PVE stuff, but with PVP that curve takes a huge spike and can be really interesting and exciting to master.
Not graphical issues.. they are features, not exclusive to ps5 user also ;) And please new players, dont give up after being spawn camped for 1 hour with people screaming at you, there are non toxic players on the game also.. few.. but we are here..
I’m really hoping this will be something I can make some friends on. I’m a father of 3 and so t have time for lots of in person social interactions and gaming with friends keeps me feeling connected to the outside world
Stoked i finally get to be a pirate again! I played day one on xbox, but it broke and i haven't got to play in years. I get to rock my day 1 eye patch from xbox on day 1 of ps5 lol
My wife and I were obsessed with this game when we started playing it somewhere from six months to a year after it came out. We had so many great interactions with other people. After it got popular with streamers a couple years later, though, the community became so toxic and full of griefers we finally gave it up. We have tried safer seas and had some fun but we have a toddler now so both of us being free to play almost never happens anymore.
@LCInfantry Nah. The toddler is infinitely more entertaining. He's smart as hell with a great sense of humor so he's always doing absolutely hilarious stuff.
@@cosmizy9805 Actions that don’t make sense, having no mercy, killing for any reason, not able to reconcile, no negotiation. It’s obviously a PvP game but there is a human element to it… good and bad.
That's the real risk and real reward.
the player interaction is hands down the best (and sometimes the worst) part of this game.
The real magic of the game is player interaction, that's where it's at its most fun for sure.
Ouch
You can open your crew to randoms

Just started playing this week.
Took me like 90 minutes to stack about 20k worth of loot, had to dodge other ships the whole time and nearly sank againt a kraken. Loving every minute, theres nothing like the honeymoon period with a new game
I have been on a honeymoon level with this game for 5 years
Good news, that honeymoon phase lasts a looooooong time! Welcome to the seas! Trust no one.

Planning to cop this one with my friends. You got some examples? :)
Yeah, the cannon physics and how intuitive they become the longer you play is an incredibly feat of game design on its own.

Not even 50%

One of the things about SoT is that you can very easily find people to play with from the wider community. It’s best not to just go on Open Crew though
100% this
As a solo sloop captain, I kind of have fun with the whole wandering alone thing as opposed to sharing my ship with another person that I haven't played with before because you never know when you're going to have that one rando that leaves a banana on your stove until everything catches fire. Not saying that all randos you find in MM are like that, but as Sir Michael Caine's Alfred once put it, "some men just want to watch the world burn." It's nice to make new friends sometimes, though
Any time I see a ship anchored at a wreck or something, they instantly get a banana in the tailpipe stove and I'm off.
Thanks for saving me from this😂

From players swimming 2 islands away to your ship to steal a particular chest or having the most chill session of your life with PvE and suddenly the whole server turn on you and wants u sunk to having dedicated roles on the ship which are only assigned between ur group.

PS5 players not knowing about barrel tucking has led to some really funny interactions. We’ve been doing some trolling then donating loot
Pre ordered it for ps5. Going to play it tonight. Hopefully I meet friendly people.
How is it so far?
Tried to play twice and the game just keeps crashing
Hey man, this is a good description. I may give it a try due to your comment. Thanks!

(Along with the story)
And when you’ve already got a desired outfit and ship design you lose purpose in playing.

My Dad actually got me into Sea of thieves i always played it on his PC but now im older and ready to return and go on my own adventure
Might wanna put Xbox and PC in the title too, since the game changed so much since it's release.
I notice this game crashes a lot, Atleast on my 5. Y’all got the same problem?
3:04 wow that combat looks amazing!
Yeah terrible skull and bones is better
Fighting skellies is the most basic combat in the game. They're just there to slow you down while gathering loot. PvP and ship warfare is really where the combat is focused.
If they overhauled man to man combat to feel more smooth this game would be unstoppable.
This is only slightly relevant, but Hi-fi Rush came to Playstation along with this one, and I wanna encourage more people to see it.
If you're on xbox, looking for group posts are amazing for finding pirates to sail with
Yes it is worth playing. Even if you don’t have any friends to play with. Linked up with 2 randoms last night. They taught me a ton & I really enjoyed playing with them.
halfway through and i like how you dissect who this game is for.
very useful/informative.
I play on PS5 and this game crashes way too much i deadass want my money back
The graphics are very nice and vibrant, especially for a 2018 game and I absolutely loved the way the sea looks. The thing that really bugged me was the fact that you can spend hours getting lots of hidden loot and treasure which is actually the fun part, only for it to all be robbed and pillaged by another team. That can be disheartening to say the least.
THE ONE PIECE IS REAL!

I like hearing that games who switched platforms is doing well. Hopefully very soon exclusive games will be a thing in history

It’s a first impressions... they’ve been really scaling down their vids in last couple years. maybe they are burnt out.
As a big fan of this game, I think you hit the nail on the head. Tough to play solo, but with friends this game shines. The PvP is something that can make this game more enticing, just takes time to get good at. It makes your adventures on the sea a bit more fun....or frustrating if you get wrecked lol.
PC user here playing SOT since 2020, This game is a masterpiece in every aspect, Gameplay, Graphics, Art, Story, Sounds,Music.... just everything you do, but one major flaw in this is Combat the PvP is extremely unbalanced, other than that... if youre buying the game go for it, its worth it
Sea of thieves has the best season pass, easy to level up, not too grindy and you get awesome cosmetic items for just putting time into the game
I still haven't seen a better pirate game than assassins creed black flag and that's 11 yrs old
As long as you are in your ship it's amazing. As soon as your boots touch sand it was a slog
Great to play online with friends and a few drinks. the online community is increadable and make starting out a lot of fun. definitely recommend
no one gonna mention how this game is unplayable on ps5 without crashing 10 times an hour?
Right lol rn i can't even get in for 5 mins without it crashing
Fr
Any fixes?
Bought this game a week ago. It is unplayable. I get disconnected every time within 5 minutes.
Used to love this game I had forgotten all about it
Fr man, it was so good in quarantine
Started playing for the Monkey Island tall tale, stayed for the plunder
Freezes up allllll the time on ps5. It’s ridiculous
There is a hole in my wall because I didn't get my Gameranx daily video until now. Gameranx is like heroin and cocaine combined for me.
You need to get off the Internet 😂
This comment is just a tad 🤏......... extreme......just a tad 🤏👀
9/11 was an Inside Job
cocaine and holes in the wall go together like PB&J
That’s called a speedball.
Best MP game ever.......me and my kids play this religiously....along with Grounded...thanks 💚
First thing my brother did, was to accidentally jump between ship & land, fell into the water with a shark around him (he didn’t notice)
PS5 is goated. They have SIE exclusive games AND Xbox exclusive games now. What's the point of getting an Xbox if it has the smallest game library
Not graphical issues.. they are features, not exclusive to ps5 user also ;) And please new players, dont give up after being spawn camped for 1 hour with people screaming at you, there are non toxic players on the game also.. few.. but we are here..
You can server swap if you're camped from the menu or auto sink your ship
My friends and I are addicted right now, so happy this is finally on PS5!
Lets be honest. I been playing on and off since beta. It has tons and tons to do. But you can do those things in a weekend...
Make sure in settings you click PlayStation 5 and switch to 120hz mode
Why
I’m really hoping this will be something I can make some friends on. I’m a father of 3 and so t have time for lots of in person social interactions and gaming with friends keeps me feeling connected to the outside world
This guy didn't mention pvp or fighting/working with other crews once...
He was on safer seas the whole time
Here’s to hoping this is the start of both consoles sharing some of there games with one another
Stoked i finally get to be a pirate again!
Plan B: Adoption.
@LCInfantry Nah. The toddler is infinitely more entertaining. He's smart as hell with a great sense of humor so he's always doing absolutely hilarious stuff.
What do you mean by griefing

Actions that don’t make sense, having no mercy, killing for any reason, not able to reconcile, no negotiation. It’s obviously a PvP game but there is a human element to it… good and bad.
This game is far from simple. There’s sooo much depth to it once you deep dive into the game
I hope Rare Replay makes it to other platforms someday
