Thank you to Marimba One for sending in the brand new Wave!
www.marimbaone.com
Marimba One has traditionally only made 5.0 octave instruments - so when I heard about the brand new Wave series of light field frame marimbas, I was keen to see whether they had the same innovations as the ones that I love so much on my Izzy. Combine that with the new logo and branding and you have a VERY interesting time for Marimba One!
So is the Wave the leader of the new generation, or is it just a hyped up ordinary marimba? Find out in PART 1 of my comprehensive review :)

Thank you so much to Marimba One for sending in the new Wave 4.3 octave marimba! Stay tuned for PART 2 of this review next week where we will test the sound and playing of this marimba :)
And if you're going to be at #PASIC18 next week, let me know in the comments below - I'll see you there!
#TheStudioFamily
Hi Adam! I can't make it to PASIC this year (I was the awkward guy by the escalator last year), but I wish you the best. I'm in the market for a pair of mallets in the bass range with lots of warmth and "rolling potential." I want to find something for the left hand part of Uphill from Gordon's Bicycle. I would love for you to do a video on mallets you like to use for the bass range (bottom 3rd of instrument). Thanks!
Adam Tan oh. my god. I’ve been wanting one for so long lol. Did you also see the new line of mallets Marimba One released? I saw them on their website but don’t know if you can buy them yet. And I’ll be at PASIC on Thursday!
Adam Tan i just thought this would be funny but my mom bought me a pear of wave wraps and I am not involved that much in percussion but in America they had a recent price drop to $79.99 for birch
Now you can use it on your 4.3 piece adam 🤙
The studio must be getting packed! Lol
Yes LOL it's so full right now...
Sound effects on this channel are 💯
My Adams marimba similarly has the natural finish on the bars, with the grain and color of each being different. I agree, it has nothing to do with the sound, but it gives the instrument a personality and adds to my joy when playing it. And if I’m happy, I probably play better! But I name my mallet instruments and bicycles, so I’m just weird that way, anyway.
LithiumMan Ahahahaha true though!!
Idky but 0:23 is just satisfying to see
RIGHT??? I love the wave lock thing ahahaha
I saw you had timpani mallets can you recommend any mallets
Dear adam tan
I love your videos so much man. You are truely an insparation to percussionist and musicians in general. Also i love your solos and im a huge fan. I was wondering if you ever plan on making a 2 mallet marimba solo, or maybe a vibe solo?
Where's part 2 ??? :)
Hi Noe
I really wish I could afford a marimba, or even have the space for one
Get either a Keith Mcmillen K Board (really small, 1.5 octaves I think and $80ish) or the Pearl em1 Malletstation if you have the money (not that big, 3 octaves, $999)
It's ok man! I didn't have one until much later, I used to borrow marimbas from anyone and everyone until I saved up enough to buy my own :)
Eli Porter yeah that’s the problem. I usually only use my school marimba to play solos on them( so a 1.5 or 3 octave won’t cut it. I would need a 4.5 preferably since that’s what I’m use to playing on
Hey Adam, First of all you deserve way more veiw and subs than you have because your vids are so amazing. Also how would you recommend saving up money for a marimba and what 4.3 marimba (cheaper) would you recommend. Thanks!
Those Wave Locks tho....are so satisfying.
Yesssssss I couldn't stop playing with them HAHA
You look like rice gum
Wish I could go to PASIC this year, but one day :)
One day!! Hope to see you there soon :)
Love the vids keep it up really amazing
What's with the ONE glove?
Parker Stockford I lost the other one LOL
The info was just released on their site, the 5 octave wave ranges from $10,999-$19,899
Gormstorm Hohoho that’s high!!
If Marimba One is actually serious about making the Wave line marching percussion friendly, they might want to rethink the placement of the Marimba One logo on the accessory bar. It's literally right where something like a cymbal clamp would go and it would just cover the logo and probably damage it as well.
I met you at PASIC today, i was with another kid when we walked up to you. It was really akward lol, nice to meet you! Btw, my name was darius and my friend's name was Calvin sorry we couldnt really find anything interesting to say lol. Hope to see you again!
Hey Adam! I was wondering if you could do a video (or just had any advice) on where to start with stevens grip
Hey Adam would you consider reviewing the Artifact Percussion Vox Calidus series? I'm suuuuuuuper interested to see the differences between them and the original series. Keep up the amazing content man :)
U gonna release dat part 2? :D
Hey Adam I'm a intermediate percussionist and am wondering what marimba has a good sound good price
What mallet would you recommend for the largest range of full sound, a solo im working on has a 5 octave range and all the mallets I have are either too clunky in the low octaves/ can’t make a sound in the higher ones
1:08 that just made my day 😂
Can't you review Adam's marimbas?
Tallak Bertin Thorgrimsen-Stensvold if I can get one!!
i have 2 things just first seeing it, and being someone who does the whole front ensemble activity.
1. those wheels are basically office chair wheels, and arent really tough enough to go over the different terrain of the places you go to play/compete. i think they should have some tires or just sturdier wheels in general.
2. the bottom support bar can also pose some problems when moving about outside. say you are pushing to the stadium in which you will be performing, and there is a curb of some sort that you need to lift over. the bar could get scratched or just be in the way. on the yamaha marimbas at my school with the field frames, the support bar is in the middle with the beams coming up from the bottom (like a reverse of this).
with those 2 things aside, the marimba definitely looks good and it’s awesome with the new features they added! i’d just be scared to be playing rosewood outside where weather can be so unpredictable.
There are eight inch casters for the Field Instrument . .. . hefty!
Denise Fitzgerald they are the right size but the material of those wheels is not conducive to being outside. The best wheels that are made for the marching idiom are honestly the wheels they put in the Yamaha boards. With the Adams ones being a close second.
Dan Sullivan I agree! yamaha wheels never let me down, and adams basically has tires that are perfect for anything you may encounter. only thing i don’t like about adams is how much heavier/harder it is to push
Is that a xyolphone in the background
Filiberto Landaverde 3 oct practice marimba
