Student nurses and nursing working in acute care settings need to know how to use the Bag Valve Mask so they are prepared to participate in a code situation to provide an environment where patient's can move towards positive health outcomes.
Airway management can be done with mouth to mouth resuscitation, a personal face mask, or a Bag Valve Mask. In this video, we focus on the parts of the BVM, how to seal and use the BVM, how to know your airway efforts are effective, and some common errors.
The airway management may be a stand-alone intervention or combined with chest compression and the use of an AED when providing all elements of CPR.
We also talk about the importance of PEEP, positive end expiration pressure, and the use of additional equipment to increase PEEP to prevent the collapse of alveolar air sacs.

Here in the Philippines we call it Ambubag!! 😅 Yep! It's the brand, but we're so used to it just like referring to photocopy as xerox!!! Hahaha!

On Long Island back in the '70s we called it an ambu-bag which is similar to some of the folks from other countries are still calling it..

Do you always want to give a ventilation ONLY on the upstroke/recoil during compressions? Or can you still get decent ventilation even if its during a downstroke compression?
On the upstroke will get more air in. On the downstroke you will be having to work against pressure

You won’t see peep in the community. If it is needed in hospital, it is usually anticipated ahead of time
