It depends on the system too. Know your system. In my hospital, we use the Ambu Spur II which uses a different inspiration valve - a large free moving shutter membrane valve unlike the duck bill valve in some systems AND an open 40 inch O2 tube reservoir. The effort to open the valve is minimal and delivering manual breaths can actually increase work if breathing. Again know your system and if possible even try it so one can see what patients feel with therapies we order for them.
Thank you Chris, I really appreciate all the content you provide. As a NZ/Aus trainee with NICU experience (and less familiarity with anaesthetic circuits), I find that a Neopuff has got me out of a few sticky situations with older infants who need PEEP but only intermittent IPPV. Any thoughts about using newborn resuscitator circuits for older infants?
And that was a question you said about can you breathe in it in the bag mask I'll tell you from experience I've used this bag mask when my pressure was high I used it and squeeze the air in my lungs and I got to tell you something it lowered my blood pressure bought like 10 seconds yeah you can use for CPR but don't just settle caves for that they says for CPR critically injured patients rescue breathing and after surgery but let me tell you the Ambu bag can be used for all things not just one do you agree or disagree hit me back your response
@@ChristopherFlannigan thank you for showing us your demonstration on this video about spontaneous breath with an Ambu bag cuz in my experience using one on myself when I felt my heart rate jump up quite a bit I squeezing air in my lungs and it did lower my blood pressure and I can say this you can used Ambu bag besides using it for CPR critically injured patients rescue breathing in after surgery you can use it to manually lower your blood pressure it's like saying for example you can have a choice when it comes to blood pressure cuff you can have automatic and manual but when it comes down to respiratory stuff it's yes to an oxygen mask not Ambu bag so yes you can breathe spontaneously for an Ambu bag for any reason God bless you always
Thank you very much, i've been wondering about thia problem for quite some time, i was thinking if i can provide a good pre-oxigenation with the ambu bag to a spontenously brething pacient, it seems that i can't

Thank you so much - i've been wondering about this for a long time!
good video, I always wondered about that when your bagging someone with some spontaneous respirations.
awesome video my friend! very timely for what's going on! 💪
It is time that you guys save the world

Glad it helped
@@PaediatricEmergencies i used the ambu bag to lower my blood pressure the bag lowered it quick I had no problems with it
@@PaediatricEmergencies You should Squeeze the bag in your lungs it works
I would like to breath with ambu bag
As an RT if they're breathing that well with huge volumes you dont need a Ambu bag lol.
I use the ambu bag to my blood pressure it lower my blood pressure faster than then a oxygen
Wtf.. ??
O2 + mask = Oxygen mask
Bag + valve + mask = bag valve mask
