I was in the Shed that day too Joey, as you say it was heaving, I think the crowd was around 55,000...not bad for a second division side playing a third division side!!
This was my first game at age 11. I still can't believe my dad let me go without any adults! Only us kids lol. It was so crowded that I lost all my mates before I evan got into the shed. I hardly saw any of the match but was hooked! My main memory was being crushed up against this wall on the way out when the biggest bloke I had ever seen put his hands on each side of me on the wall and pushed everyone back. I just looked up at him and said "thanks mate".
At least when you go to games now mate, you know that all the Palace fans are real ones......and not plagued with daytrippers like we are at the Bridge these days!!
Was at this game as a young lad supporting Chelsea up the Shed End and it was heaving, peope were getting carried out as it was that packed, and there was a lot of trouble up the North Stand with the Chelsea supporter and his infamous kung fu kick into the Palace Supporters, I always liked going to Palace there was just something very warm and fuzzy about Selhurst park in the late 70's Couldn't say the samething about Spurs,White hart Lane was probably the least appealing ground to travel to.
i was there shed end palace got bad hiding sad really but that was chelsea in thoses days bad result for us cfc lads moley sutton utd=chelsea fc surrey

Fair play to Palace, they definitely have the noisiest fans, and best atmosphere, in the Premier League this season.
