  • Testament - 9. The Legacy - Souls Of Black
    We're gonna take you back
Through the pages of the past
    Just another lonely boy
    I could laugh and play
And live in any other way
Then the devil took my soul
    The fortune and the fame
I knew I was not the same
And I know I'd never return
    Looking at the sky
I knew I would never die
    And forever shining through
    Wish the sky would say
That blue would turn to grey
And I know I'd be there
    Life was like a fantasy
    Taken by reality
    Does anyone remember me
    You once knew me
    Flashes of the day
I knew I was here to stay
But no one stays the same
Turn the pages back in time
Through the chapters in my mind
Life's too short to leave behind
    It's too late now
    Life was like a fantasy
    Taken by reality
    Does anyone remember me
    You once knew me
    Flashes of the day
I knew I was here to stay
    But no one
    Knows my name

@@tommi_marsetio Yeah it is a more polished Testament then we are used to. But it still has some good hooks and solos in their songs! The Ritual took quite a few years to grow on me. But that album has some great tracks on it as well like Return To Serenity for instance. Which I couldn't stand when I first heard it at 18. lol

They are not in the big 4 of the trash metal Olymp where Slayer, Metallica, Anthrax and Megadeth are. But lets be real. Testament are really good and they deserve more attention.

It is your preference and believe me, its far from unanimous.. you are the only one. like what you like, but talent is discretionary based on expectation. clearly you aren't expecting much in order to be blown away. I love all of Testament's slow paced songs, but The Legacy has always been my favorite. Testament is so amazing at doing both aggressive fast paced songs, and slow paced songs big time. Chuck Billy is PHENOMENAL at singing both styles big time. This is one reason why Testament is one of my all time favorite bands ever. They are just so extremely talented, and in my opinion they are underated. In my eyes they should be headlining arenas all around the world.

Practice what you preach, Electric Crown, Brotherhood of the Snake, More than meets the eye, Low, Native Blood...songs like that not only get me rockin', they really make me think, especially More than meets the eye, Native Blood, and PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH!!! As for that last song that I mentioned:If people would learn to Practice what they preach, instead of being such friggin' hypocrites all the time, our world would be in much better condition than it is now!

What happened? Seattle WA in the narcoleptic 90s happened. Metal in terms of Thrash was no longer wanted, MTV followed by killing off any band with real talent and musicianship. It got worse with the boy bands, the folk music that was rehashed. But metal NEVER went away. It just got pushed underground, and LOYAL fans kept bands like Testament alive. In my book this band should have been bigger than Metallica.

    • @willroland9811
      @willroland9811 5 лет назад +13

@@kjemradio you're right of course, but bear in mind some things are meant to be underground...held on to and cherished by the ones, the few, that actually get it. All other music rotates in shifts, and the fans rotate with it, flavor of the day bullshit. Grab a pop fan up and play them a pop tune from the same year as this album. Betcha they wrinkle thier nose and tell you it sucks. And they'd be correct, but that's irrelevant. Metal transcends time and space, literally. It is what it is, and we love it. Let the mindless ones cheer for their drivel...we need a laugh anyway.

Someone please explain to me why when Metallica makes songs like this they get called sellouts? I love Testament Slayer Metallica ( despite St. Anger and Lulu ) Pantera and Megadeth. Every single one of the most beloved metal bands have done things some fans don't agree with. Metallica just gets shit because of their popularity and Lars.
