Music is the highest form of art
I've only tonight been impacted by this beautiful song when seeing it interpreted through dance. On "So You Think You Can Dance" Emmy winning Travis Wall choreographed a brilliant piece that truly moved me, and surely by now a million others. Damiens' fan base no doubt increased, and with honors.
Music is such a special thing! The human voice in song with others like this is amazing! So emotive!
I was there. It was unbelievable. The whole festival was amazing. A once in a lifetime experience. Note that this festival was built around a special surprise element, so before entering the room (some were big like this hall, others were really small) you did not know what would await you inside. It could be an intimate folk circle with Justin Vernon, Damien Rice and Erlend Øy, or an Austrian Opera singer accompanied by a piano, or even a dance performance. Whatever awaited you, it was intimate and very special. I wish I could go back! :)

Absolutely, Dwi! I was really pinching myself the entire weekend. I just couldn't believe how I managed to slip in on such an exclusive gathering of music and people. It was also pretty small and intimate. Only 5000 people. Pretty low numbers for a festival, especially with this lineup.
The logistics of the festival were not perfect. Especially the first day. There were a lot of waiting lines because of the carrousel system of the artists and some people were unlucky in their disoveries (although the organisation had made sure that everyone got to see Bon Iver at least once). But after the first day we all received an email from Justin Vernon (who had organised the festival with a bunch of friends) with apologies and changes they had made to make the second day a better experience.
And it was noticable. One of these changes they made for instance was Damien Rice singing to the people in the waiting line, outside in the rain! :D

When I left the festival this Saturdaynight, while opening the lock of my bicycle, I stumbled upon Damien. I really really really wanted to thank him for the beauty of the festival, for the wonderful #people he and his friends had gathered in and around the Funkhaus. I'm a great fan of his music. So I told him all of this. He was so gentle. This special loving atmosphere also had touched him. He even was concerned about me. Asked me if I had had the chance to see the performances I hoped for. Couldn't believe that I had just spoken with him.. think I was flying back to my airbnb, instead of cycling..
OMG!! I'm so jealous :((( I wish I was your bicycle or even the wheel of it just to see him and talk to him :D :(

Thank you for the most magical experience. A real 'once in a lifetime'. I'm almost not longer mad that I wasn't born in time to go to Woodstock (jk, this was better). Loved every bit of it. I'm kinda hoping there will be another edition, but at the same time not since it will never be the same as the first one.
I was there, just in the second row. It was the best musical experience I've ever lived. I remember vividly the moment when all the people of the chorus got up from their seats and went to the stage. Nobody knew what was happening and then, THIS. I travelled from Barcelona to Berlin with no clue of what I was going to see and I can't explain how lucky I felt. Would love to live it again.
The back up voices truly make this version a special one!

I come back every few months to hear this version. It’s still as fresh to me as it was...the first time I heard it. The album awakened me the first time I played it...in 2016... I can’t explain how in tune I feel with his message...especially when I listen to this version. It does take a lot to know man..this song may be my favorite, if that’s even possible.
