For an old machine that was pulled out of the hedge a few years ago it works bloody well
Could you not put your beet in a field with spring barley? That means you could have most of the field in barley along with the end rigs so it would leave beet in the middle so all you have to do is ups and downs lifting it. Save you time trying to get the rounds off. Make lifting beet easier and quicker.
The beet harvester reminds me of the good old days in Tuam where we had the Beet Factory and every farmer 10 miles radius of Tuam sowed beet and stored it any where there was space for collection, Keep the good work up.
you have a good few boalters ....they would want to be pulled by right , if u want to sow beet in that field again
Great video Phil. Never seen beet being harvested before. Great to see.
Nice one Phil
You can't beat a dry day at beet
Hi Phil, it looks like a good crop beet nice the weather stayed good I think it will be good when you get them all in.
Can you please give Cormac Downey a shout out for winning the wheelchair all Irland final please Phil
can you stop begging on every video?
😊
That went very well for you.
Brilliant video Phil great see the beet been pulled
It’s lovely to come home to our favourite farmer’s in the world 🗺️.After a stressful day so so good 😊 luck.🍀
Id look a beet videos all day great start Phil 👌👌
You could weld up a bar with a few tines on it fir the back of the fergy and run up and down the field to sort out the weeds, just an idea , beet puller is workin well !
You should get a set of trash cutting discs from Ger Murphy in carlow for the front of the harvester. Would help cut down the weeds so you can see where your going
He's in Clonegal, was in carlow town years ago
@@Liamplunkett-z6vclinegal is in carlow.
Phil Re the Saturday start I’m not superstitious
But I have known people who would prefer to go drinking for the weekend, but I don’t think that you fit that category
Good luck with the Beet Harvesting
Do / could you feed the leaves to the cattle. 50 years ago I worked with a neighbour who grew sugar beet and we gathered all leaves we could to give to dairy cows as fodder.
Top class Phil you're video are brillant
just an idea Phil. maybe mow with the trailed mower a 10ft strip with the bed raised to. clean off the rubbish. then lift those rows and mow again. hopefully the outer wheel on the mower wouldnt do much harm
thats stupid
Saturday phiseoighs didn't work there Phil. My old lad was full of them too but I often proved him wrong but, he had only to get lucky once. Keep 'er Lit
Good stuff
Nice to see a good crop coming off the field after the way this years been going.
Great video keep it going
Think that's a good day's pulling you got before the rain great seeing the harvester working some flow of beet going into it
Just remembered Phil when we grew turnips we used to take the 13t and ferguson cultivator and set the legs so they go between the rows and run with the cultivator to help with weeds always around mid July time I'm not sure if it works the same with beet but might be worth a try.
Sorry the 135 and cultivator
Another very interesting video Thank you 😊😊😊😊😊
Phil you talked about a redrock shearbucket there is one for sale on donedeal a 2 metre with new set of blades
Great video Phil. Enjoyed watching. 👍🏼👍🏼
Not a bad crop even tho they a bit small
Would you not be better off growing fodder beet for feeding the cattle with Phil?.
It's Friday flitting short sitting dad wouldn't start mowing or move stock on a Friday if pen flooded out clean out and put back as it was
Buy yourself the joystick unit off Jer Murphy in clonegal in Wexford and you won’t have the hardship of them cables . Think the unit is roughly 1300€ inc the vat .
Carry on Philip . Jobs a good un 👍🏻
There any concern on damage to the beets when you dump like that? I mean on the initial dump where it's hitting the trailer floor from that height.
I'm thinking there going to be a bigger market for root crops over the next 5 years.. cracking work 👏 👌 stay safe 🏴
a lot of work with beet ........ good few around here gave it up .......maize is handier in winter .....
I used to call on a Farmer who would never start anything new on a Friday! My dad would never do business on a Sunday as he once bought some hens on a Sunday and they all died!
Yet to her of something that never dies🤣🤣
Why didn't you pull the weeds Phil. We used to do that always.
Must be very satisfying to get a crop like that
Hi farmer Phil that is a great job with it on your land 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
what variety is the beet
throw water on the belts every morning before you start .......that way they do not come off
Are you telling me that the belts are not permanently wet in Ireland
In my experience belts rarely come off if bottom pulleys are in line and good
You would not want a set of belts going through the cutting disk What’s a set of belts worth now a 1000 or more they weren’t cheap when we last bought a set out of Carlow in 82
@@paddymickiemickie8221 the man that puts my beet will always wet the belts when he is starting in the morning ......or if it was a few miles drive from the last place he was working in .......better be safe than sorry ......!
We go by the rule of never start a job on a Friday
Same
I would have thought Ireland would have grown out of those pagan superstitions
How is the grain shed going??😊
👍

bullshit
🇮🇪🇮🇪💪💪👌👌👍👍🙏🙏
Such a waste of a field growing bloody stupid pumpkins they are a waste of time
Videos lately gone very boarding Philip, Seems like your putting Videos up just for the sake of it.
He can only put up videos of what there doing
Thats your personal opinion.
what videos do you like and dislike
It’s not easy lad
Good Decision to keep moving while weather is dry
Many years ago I was pulling fodder beet for a man I had pulled 20 acres of sugar beet for him great heavy land He had about 7 acres of Fodder beet to harvest ,we pulled about 3 acres and he decided to leave the remainder,I suggested to him that it might be better to finish as the field trailed down into a hollow and that would have been early November
It started to rain and never stopped until February I went back after a couple of dry days with a 100 Hp 4 wheel drive and got bogged on the second round I had been pulling grand with a 2 Wd 70 Hp after that it was a salvage operation Mudding it out as the Yanks say
Funny story about getting that xtra bit in the tank I was Pulling Fodder Beet for my old Neighbor Tom and of course what happened, an xtra large beet over the top of the tank and clean hit the 6711 Zetors exhaust and of course broke at the Manifold I guess I was lucky it didn’t get me in the cab ,I might not be writing this , anyway keep going listening too the roar of that brute, little wonder there is a ringing in my right ear
Re starting a job on a Saturday Any day is a good day to start, some people would prefer to go drinking for the weekend than work
I don’t think you fit that category
Yes it might pay to even have one Disc cutting the trash + i found it pays to wear a glove if you get out to push beer up the belt as if a bit of beet gets under your nails it’s painful, also be very careful as too many people have been killed by beet harvesters
That shaft where your PTO sheared the bolt should have a key there as I never seen a shear pin there The older harvesters had a dog clutch on the drive line PTO flying off could do a lot of damage or worse
Keep up the good work
