I bumped into this by chance.... Zane is a long time friend, also the most critical person I know in regards to gear. If he approves it must be one hell of a peice of kit.
    Keep em coming bro!

Was hemming and hawing and finally settled on the shell because of this. Cheers

I got the Keb Eco-Shell as well, got size XL and I´m 188cm 110kg. My No68 is a XXL so is the Keb jacket.
    Great video!

Great review, and not just a typical overview - a mistake which a lot of youtube posters keep making.
P.S. Love your first dog. It was probably thinking something like "Who...who are you talking to?"

I can attest to Teds standard of excellence! Really helpful review he has. Good job on this one too, I’m from Ontario and I’ve found Fjallraven to be pretty good for our ever changing weather. I’ve had no issues with the G-1000 material, it’s lived up in my pack and coat. I had the keb trousers but wasn’t a huge fan with how long the stretch material took to dry. Now that they have the Vidda Pro ventilated, with the stretch material only in the crotch/thigh area, I may check them out. Also, since your a hunter, you should check out their hunting line... I think it’s only available in the UK right now but might be worth checking out!

Zack Thanks. Agreed, Ted does great reviews. I have checked out their hunting line but I’m very interested in the brand First Lite. They have a lot of great reviews. I might try the new vidda pro too. “Mobility is survivability” is what military say so might as well be as comfortable as possible!

Great tip that Fjallraven.us Fit Finder! I already did ordered size M Fjällräven keb eco-shell jacket and Fit FInder told me it;s 80% fit to size M.

Awesome! I hope it’s a great fit! You’ll love the Eco shell. I’ve only read one negative review on the Eco shell were it leaked. Fjallraven gave the guy a full refund. Testament to their customer service. I’ve yet to have any leaks with mine.

hi, i am looking for a hard shell but not very keen on getting a typical crinckly noisy shell like the mountain equipment lhotse or the arcteryx beta ar. Stumbled upon eco shell and the further research got me here once gain to your channel.
can i request you for some long term review in terms of
1.waterproofness now, 2. how long can it stay in torrential rain, 3. drying time, 4. frequency of dwr reapplication, 5. do we have to use only flallraven dwr treatment or nikwax/grangers can be used as well, 6. what is your chest size and what size are you wearing 7. what kind of layering can be done under it.
thank you and best regards :-) rohit

Hi. Ok let me try and answer all these for ya:)
I used my Eco in a heavy down pour for about two hours one with zero leaks. Ive used it all day long on rainy days but I won’t consider torrential. I’ve been very impressed with it and I’ve had for 3 years.
I use Grangers for water proofing and I’ve only done it once. I tend to re water proof when I stop seeing water bead off as easily or my jacket starts to get really dirty.
I typically only wear my rain gear on rainy or very windy days otherwise I wear something Skogso jacket or soft shell for breath ability.
      I’m a 43-44 inch chest, size, pants 36-38, height 5’11” and 226 lbs.
I’ve worn light tee shirts, wool sweaters, my Arcteryx Atom, to even a mid size down jacket under my XL with no issue. Like I stated in my video, I run hot so I don’t typically wear rain gear too much in the summer and I find with shell jackets I’m very comfortable with tee shirt and light wool sweater through fall spring and mild winter days.
I have yet to have any issues with my eco shell jacket and pants although when I’m bashing through the bush I’m a little more careful because it is a less durable material then Arcteryx.
I’d you were in say search and rescue, law enforcement, military Arcteryx is the better choice as it more durable. If you’re a light weight camper, back packer, canoeist etc, Fjallraven eco shell is a great choice.
You definitely don’t feel like you’re wearing a shell with fjallraven eco shell. I have both the eco shell and Arcteryx Leaf Alpha jacket. Both nice but I find my Fjallraven more comfortable.
I’ve been hearing amazing things about First Lite products. Designed for hunters in the pacific mid west and Alaska, their Seak jacket and pants are pretty impressive. Comes in brown, black, camo. Decently priced.
Arcteryx is getting way too expensive I find.

Sorry, drying time, I’ve never actually times my drying time but to me it seemed quicker than my Alpha.
Please watch Ted Weirum’s review on the Eco Shell. He does a great job explaining the features and he uses his a lot!
I believe “Solotripper” on RUclips was wearing the shell colour as mine and he was a canoe outfitter in Redlake Ontario in Woodland Caribou Provincial Park. If I recall he liked his as well but he bounces back and forth from Arcteryx to Fjallraven too.
I know the Eco Shell is issued to people on Fjallraven’s Polar Expedition.
I hope this all helps. 😊👍

    Hi Zane. Great video !
After a year, do you still love your keb eco-shell ? Is it durable as you expected ? Thank's !!

    • @zanebrillinger298
      @zanebrillinger298  5 лет назад

Hi Alex. Yes I still love it! It’s still looks new! Zero issues. I have only had one Fjallraven item I’ve ordered that did not fit my body at all but other wise everything I have made by Fjallraven fits great. I think the only rain wear I’d get for what do would be the Fjallraven Eco shell, Arcteryx or First Lite. I love the mobility / ease of movement with my Eco shell and I love how quite it is compared to my arcteryx.
