Cold Steel SR1 Lite: Tough "Little" Knife

  • The thick blade falls short in fine slicing, but this "little" beast has become my go-to folder for tasks I probably shouldn't be doing with a folding knife, like chopping and prying when I don't have a proper tool at hand. Lite version (which isn't that light) has Griv-Ex FRN/GFN scales without the support of full metal liners, but it's been incredibly durable. And because I didn't spend much on it, I'm not worried about using it hard.

    GREAT VIDEO Mike on a favorite all around & utility knife of mine too! I carry that folder in my backpack 24/7. It goes everywhere I go! It's also the knife I have most given. Gave one to two of my sons, my nephew and a old family friend. It's one of those knives that when needed, will not let you down and just for that reason alone, makes it priceless... And it also being very affordable doesn't hurt either! Very tough, easy to sharpen, will do work that would "break" other folders costing 3 to 4 times as much and as dependable as you would need it to be... LOVE my SR-1 Lite!!! And again Mike, excellent video... Blade shake on the tri-ad, oh yeah! On my Holdout especially. It makes me too cautious of where I grab it so I don't EDC it as much as my other knives BUT, I never leave my home without a tri-ad locking folder in my pocket!!!

    Damn, I'm glad someone else is taking notice of this lock shake on the triad lock. I was the commentator btw!!

      Yes, and thanks again for pointing it out to me! Sounds like you're not the only one who's run into it

      @michaelrizzo5523 I think it has a lot to do with the bigger handles on the sr1, rajah and espada xl. I noticed this doesn't happen on my Range Boss even when I try. That being said, I do feel the lock depress on the range boss a small amount, not enough to cause blade play. I think the larger handle mass allows you to squeeze your hand tighter against the lock.

    I've noticed that shake too. Those back locks need the Boyd Dent.

    Great job Michael didn't realize how hearty that knife is until you held against the Voyager, great looking knife..

    I had never heard of the lock shake before so I tried it with my Voyager XL. No problem when I hold it at a correct blade angle, but if I'm holding it in a really bad angle and squeeze, it will shake. I was a bit surprised. Just feels like it has a bit of blade play but won't close on me. The good thing is that I most likely would never hold a knife in that position. Good think to know. Thanks for pointing it out. Take care!

    Love this blade! I have the tanto version and itsgreat. I also have experienced triad shake in an Espada XL It is never a serious problem but something I have to be conscious about. Thank you for the review

      @donjuanmckenzie4897 27 дней назад +1

      Yes I experience it as well. Tbh, in any other company it would be considered a massive flaw. We tend to want to overlook it as a flaw because otherwise the knife is such a home run

    I bought the SR1 Lite a few years ago, it’s a more discreet folder from what we are usually used to coming from CS. They seem to have some quality control issues again, so I didn’t run out to get the Mayhem yet, something about a faulty heat treatment. Can’t go wrong with the classic designs though for the most part.

    Dang! Those CS Espadas keep coming up (on screen) in your videos. I’m starting to get that itch (if ya know what aah mean…)!
    Honestly; I do think they’re quite expensive - and I really don’t need another big tool in my pants… 😂 😩💸🪟
