all you need the screw to do is to hold the ssd in place it doesn't have to screw all the way in or hald, we use this screws for all our upgrade of m.2 ssd's
regarding the cover screws let me get to the office tomorrow and i shall get back at you with the screw size for the back cover.

Man, this is exactly the video I needed - for some reason this computer is so overlooked when it's one of the best mid-range laptops. One question : If I put the SSD in the second M.2 slot, do I have to install anything on to it? Or will it work anyway? I understand why one would have to if you put it in your main slot, but can't see any reason to when in the second one - anyhow, I thought it better to ask. Thanks!

And why install an SSD with a PCIe 4.0 connector (such as the SAMSUNG 980 PRO SSD 1TB PCIe 4.0) on a motherboard with a PCIe 3.0 slot, which will of course be more expensive than a regular SSD with a PCIe 3.0 connector?@@uFixTek

It's truly a pleasure, my friend. 😊 I deeply appreciate your taking the time to provide feedback. If you're inclined to support the channel further, feel free to like and subscribe-or even both!
Regarding your question, i would recommend you to get a GEN4 nvme as it is compatible with gen3. by placing a gen4 nvme on gen3 slot the nvme (gen4) will not over load and will not be pushed to its limits, therefor it will last you longer.
Should you have any further questions or requests in the future, please don't hesitate to ask me.

Thanks for the video bro! It's just incredibly frustrating that they can't leave a freaking screw in there. I mean Huawei is a multi-billion dollar corporation and they save on a screw. The ones that came with my SSD didn't fit, so had to steal one from other part of the laptop. Now I have to search for the exact screw

Thank you for the feedback! if you wish to support the channel you can LIKE or SUB or both :P
regarding your question: Hell yes my friend,it all depends on your budget, i would highly recommend you to get a reliable solid and durable SSD like Samsung 980 pro, and place that where you have your old ssd and place the old ssd on your 2nd m.2 slot. and install windows on your Samsung ssd. you can have up to 4TB SSD on both, but i would say go with max 2Tb nvme Samsung 980 pro. and place the old one for extra storage.
      🔵 BEST SSD: amzn.to/3MwFO5J
      🔵 2nd best: amzn.to/3CpBpNd
      to install windows :
#1. create windows 10 or 11 (stable windows is win10, its good for another 6years) boot usb: ruclips.net/video/uDu8j2lE-dM/видео.html
#2. install following any windows 10 installation steps (important to do the steps exactly to prevent having trash installed): ruclips.net/video/GkMZyCUarIA/видео.html
to boot from : insert usb with windows 10 or 11 in it then power off the laptop and plug the usb, and once pressed power button then quickly keep tapping on F12 key until you see the boot menu and then choose the usb.
and once you in partition selection delete all the partition you see until there is no more delete option (it will gray out) then choose the 1TB or 2Tb (new SSD) to install

Be aware and try to avoid static electricity hazard, which may occur in your finger tips if you do not disconnect your battery. this may damage your mother board and all its components. Simply use medical rubber gloves.

    • @uFixTek
      @uFixTek  Год назад +2

Thank you for your feedback and for taking the extra step to protect viewers. However, I want to assure you that there is no need to worry about static discharge from your fingertips or touch. It is highly unlikely, around 99%, that you could damage the motherboard just by touching the components, even with the battery connected. Any static charge will quickly ground itself to the PCB and discharge harmlessly. In fact, we have extensively tested our motherboards over the last 17 years and have never been able to damage them through static discharge, even Linus Tech Tips using much more powerful equipment than what a human can generate, did a tried.
However, if you or anyone still feels uneasy, we recommend grounding yourself by attaching a cable to your wrist and a metal table. While it may not be necessary, it certainly doesn't hurt to take extra precautions.
