  • See what Ketchikan, Alaksa looks right- from the cruise port dock where there is plenty of shopping nearby, to Creek Street (where the famous, or infamous, Dolly House resides).
    Excursions from Ketchikan: www.viator.com/Ketchikan/d942...
    At port there is the Ketchikan Visitor's Bureau/Visitor Center. We also visited Whale Park where there was a cool totem pole. We did visit the Tongass National Park Museum aka Alaska Discovery Center as well- you can see that video plus other Ketchikan videos via our Alaska cruise in our playlist here:
    • Ketchikan Alaska Tours...
    Two other cruise ships were docked there the day of our visit, including the Celebrity Millennium.
    This was from our June cruise aboard the Holland America Amsterdam.

    I remember in the 1980's when the cruise ships had to berth further away from the town, and tourists were boated in to the docks on smaller ships.

      For sure- now guests get to visit downtown right off of the pier- very convenient and time-saving. We certainly enjoyed our visit at Ketchikan.

    Nice tour....thank you! Was there two months ago and the main street was torn up due to resurfacing. Interesting seeing you follow the same path that we did. Up Mission Street past the Salmon Etc and Del Sol, the fire house and museum. Like most videos and just as I did...no one goes through the tunnel to Newtown. Is that more for the locals?

    • @TravelTouristVideos
      @TravelTouristVideos  5 лет назад

      I forget exactly why we didn't journey past the tunnels, but I think it was because it seemed to lead away from the local attractions. Maybe next time! Thanks for watching & commenting!

    Excelente! Se ve que conserva su fisonomía casi original, que incluso es como un set de película de holliwood. Aunque me gusta leer y documentarme, tenía la idea de que existía solo hielo todo el año. Hasta ahorita se me ocurre preguntarme el porqué los Rusos dejaron ésa colonia, actual estado de EEUU.

      También fuimos a Sitka, Alaska, donde aún había más influencia rusa, incluyendo una casa del obispo y una iglesia ortodoxa rusa. Tenemos un video de eso aquí:
      ruclips.net/video/_8AdQW12jSg/видео.html
      Sí, aparentemente Rusia vendió Alaska a los Estados Unidos en 1867.

      TravelTouristVideos Interesante! Buscaré el video. Efectivamente, la religión oficial de los Rusos es la ortodoxa que nace de la división de la iglesia cristiana: Iglesia Católica Apostólica y Romana; e Iglesia Griega. Al máximo representante de la iglesia Ortodoxa se le conoce como Patriarca. Hay muchos lugares que me gustaría visitar pero no está en mis posibilidades, ni en tiempo ni en presupuesto, salvo haciendo esfuerzo podría un par de lugares del mundo y sería Moscow, Alaska o un lugar de EEUU llamado Trukee en California, es como parecido a Alaska, pienso. Saludos.

      Nope we explored around the town which we thought had a lot to see already. I think Holland America offered a walking tour as well.
