Thank you so much for all of your videos and instructions! I plan of building my own camper and you’ve been a big help!!!! Thank you! I even decided to build a miniature model based off of your advise!
We really do share your excitement. After following all this time it's rewarding to see the payoff. I'm grateful you've taken the time to break down how to build the doors.
SkyroofNova72 Thanks so much! It’s kinda cool having videos to go back and watch about the build. Years down the road, I’ll be able to watch these and reminisce.
Phil Lowman Unfortunately, I haven’t found a source for trim that wasn’t expensive. I bought mine through Vintage Technologies. The hinges were from eBay.
Were the doors very expensive to make? What is the difference in cost of making your door compared to buying one or cutting down an rv door like Jay Poore does? Thanks keep up the great videos. Very inspiring.
They were very expensive, nearly the same as buying new. If you want round doors, you’ll have to build them. Otherwise, it’s much better just to buy them.
Great set of videos on the trim install. Very helpful! Are you planning to add a seal of any kind to the doors and what do you think you'd use? Also, what did you use for the galley seals? I see you installed a black seal of some kind but not sure how it works and keeps it water tight. Thanks again for the help.
Jconroyunm Thanks for watching! I have some D shaped seal on its way for the doors. It’s 3/8” wide by 1/4” tall. It’s an eBay purchase. As for the galley, I ordered a seal that fits nicely inside the aluminum corner trim. I got it from Vintage Technologies. The part number is DHS05.
Call Sign Gino Definitely butyl tape under the roof/wall joint trim. I have an earlier video showing how I did that. I’m using the Trempro 635 on the doors due to the tight fit.
Camp & Camera Thanks... I’ve been trying to catch up on all your videos and just recently subscribed. My wall skin is on and I just laid the roof on today. Thanks for the reply and the very informative content!
For the doors, I used chrome walk-in refrigerator hinges. www.ebay.com/itm/superbobi-Chrome-Smoker-Hinge-Walk-in-Refrigerator-Cooler-/174681757088?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m2548.l6249&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0
Andres Velez I ended up putting a rubber gasket on the inside of the T trim of the door. When closed, the gaskets presses against the L trim on the wall. I haven’t tried it yet, but believe it will work.
The door has an aluminum flange around the perimeter. There’s a rubber seal on the inside of the flange. When closed, the rubber seal compressed against the outer wall of the camper. I actually have a jam on the inside, but don’t use it for sealing anything. I originally had a D shape seal on the flange, but later switched to an arrow head shaped seal I picked up from Vintage Technologies. I just decided to seal the door from the outside rather than the inside. I could always add a D seal to the jam if desired, but after several rains and water hose testing, it isn’t needed.
Preston Covell Yep, no complaints so far. I was concerned at first with my doors being so heavy, but so far, no issues. I installed them with screws and blind nuts and put a shot of loftier on them.
Overall that’s an excellent job on the door and it’s trim. Well done learnt a lot.
Looks great! I'm voting for the green doors.
Yay..! So happy my suggestion worked out for ya.
Kay Cortapassi It did indeed! A great big thank you for the tip!!!

Hey, thanks so much for watching! Good luck on your build!
The excitement is contagious!
SkyroofNova72 Lol! I’ll admit, I’m not very animated, but sure was happy that it worked!

I got those same hinges for my 5 x 8 and can't wait to get back to work on it. I just have to finish a build for my friend, thanks for the video
M Langford I look forward to your video!
Where did you get those hinges?
Great build. I’m enjoying your ideas.
Thank you!
Top notch video. You really show what we need to know.
Glad to help! Thanks for watching!
Where or who sticks this kinda stuff? There is a camper supply store in our town , but they are extremely expensive on everything.
Phil Lowman Unfortunately, I haven’t found a source for trim that wasn’t expensive. I bought mine through Vintage Technologies. The hinges were from eBay.
Nice work. Looks great!
RogMc Thanks so much!

Muy buenos detalles!!! Gracias por compartir!!
Gracias por ver mi video!
Good job.
Barracas Suricato Thanks so much!
Where did you get the t shaped aluminum trim? I am having a difficult time finding some.
Vintage Technologies
Looking great. Can't wait to see it with the skin on and window in. SEEYA
Meandering Morningstars I'm really looking forward to that too! Thanks so much for watching!

Thank you for all this valuable information. Question: does the occasional contracting and expanding of the wood no imperil the tight waterproof fit?
So far, and it’s been two years since I built it, it’s doing great and is leak free.
@@CampandCamera Good to hear it. That's reassuring. Thank you!!
Do you recommend a trim pro like sealant or butyl tape for under the trim between the roof and side walls?
Call Sign Gino Definitely butyl tape under the roof/wall joint trim. I have an earlier video showing how I did that. I’m using the Trempro 635 on the doors due to the tight fit.

What kind of hinges did you use and where to get them
For the doors, I used chrome walk-in refrigerator hinges.

Where do you get your T-trim or all the trim from?
Vintage Technologies
Will weather affect the with of the door ? Like if it swellsdue to moisture.
Andrew Vitale I imagine so. However, there’s a pretty good gap between the door and frame.
Plywood is pretty dimensionally stable. As long as it stays dry, it won't move much.
I vote for a white door for a streamline look.
Just one question.
Is this a waterproof solution? You know, raining.
Andres Velez I ended up putting a rubber gasket on the inside of the T trim of the door. When closed, the gaskets presses against the L trim on the wall. I haven’t tried it yet, but believe it will work.
What guage is your aluminum t molding?
Gauge I don’t know, but I picked it up at Vintage Technologies.
Where’d you get this aluminum?
It’s Wrisco brand aluminum I picked up at a local sign shop.
How do you make your door air tight, without a door jam?
The door has an aluminum flange around the perimeter. There’s a rubber seal on the inside of the flange. When closed, the rubber seal compressed against the outer wall of the camper. I actually have a jam on the inside, but don’t use it for sealing anything. Did you screw the hinges all the way through
Jeff Towner Yep, the door hinge bolts go all the way through.
Where did you buy the hinges from?
Richard Wright I picked them up on eBay.

Next build place a piece of sheet metal on the corner of the door and be more aggressive to protect the wood surface, then remove the sheet metal.
Darryl A. Davis Great idea!! Thank you.
Who knew building a teardrop would be so kinky.
For sure!
Where did you get your door hinges?
Preston Covell They were an eBay purchase. Search “Chome trailer door hinges.”
Ok I found them. So after the few months you have had them on your camper, do you still like them.
Preston Covell Yep, no complaints so far. I was concerned at first with my doors being so heavy, but so far, no issues. I installed them with screws and blind nuts and put a shot of loftier on them.
