- Congratulations to all ISM students who participated in the Adventurous Journey training from September 27th - 29th for the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award at silver and gold level!
This renowned international programme, established in 1956 by the Duke of Edinburgh and now active in 144 countries, empowers young people to develop essential ‘soft’ skills like creativity, teamwork, and leadership through real-world experiences.
For their journey, ten of our Year 11 and Year 12 students traveled to the Var valley at La Croix-sur-Roudoule, where they kicked off with a morning rafting adventure followed by hiking through the Daluis Geological Reserve in the Mercantour National Park. The second day had them trekking over 20 kilometers and climbing 1000 meters in elevation up to the Canyon d’Amen, exploring the area’s rich history including the copper mine at La Croix-sur-Roudoule. Throughout the journey, students sharpened their navigation skills, mastered trekking orientation, and practised teamwork and self-sufficiency skills while staying in a mountain refuge.
Well done to everyone for completing this incredible adventure and for expanding their outdoor skills and knowledge!
