Thanks for sharing! My thoughts after using a dishwasher for almost a year (1) Hand washing can use significantly less water than dishwashers, depending on the practice(s) of the person(s) washing (2) “Soaking” dishes with water from washing one’s hands in the sink helps a lot in fully removing larger particles that would otherwise need to be cleared from the dishwasher’s filters. This also helps ensure that food stains are not “caked” into the dishes - which would then require higher temperature setting (more electricity $$$$) to clean in dishwasher (3) Handwashing immediately after every meal leaves less clutter in the sink and also takes barely any time, compared to loading a dishwasher and then and waiting for dishwashing to complete. That said, dishwashers can be time saving for households that utilize lots of dish ware every meal. (4) Dishwasher salt doesn’t seem to be necessary with Singapore’s potable tap water and doesn’t seem to make any difference in how squeaky clean dishes can become (5) The 30 min washing cycle is indeed sufficient for fully cleaning dish ware that has been pre- “soaked”. With Singapore’s weather, it is usually unnecessary to use the longer cycles that also include heating time - air drying doesn’t take long in SG. And this also saves on electricity $$$ 😂
This video is exactly what I have been looking for ! I have been contemplating of getting a dishwasher and wonder what do I need to look out for - in terms of utility consumption, the size and the space I need. I also benefitted greatly from your DIY ! Thanks
my gf drives me crazy by letting the tap run at full blast also when not rinsing. and when i turn the tap off she gets mad and tells me to wash the dishes myself lol. nice review, im so gian to get a dishwasher now
Xiaomi has a small over the counter dishwasher, otherwise there is another brand that has what is called a "drawer dishwasher". You could consider those. My wife and I bought ourselves a full size dishwasher that we placed next to our washer dryer combo, although we lost drawer space, not washing dishes more than makes up for lack of space. Oh and our dishwasher has a half load function which hopefully saves more energy and water.
Great honest review, considering the hassles of the installation and we still have to dump those food excess, I will cancel the purchase, just bought a lot of sponges and replace every week should be ok. Lucky that me and wife always wash the dishes straightaway after having meal. 🙏🏻😁
@@pxdkitty maybe you could look into one that could be fixed below into a cupboard or something? (takes some construction work i think) but it definitely saves time and the 'argh' feeling of gross dishes 😂
jj Dishwasher only "save water" when it operates under max dish load. So u clutter your kitchen sink(attract flies) to wash it once at the end of the day. Usually the grime on the plates will dry up and hard to wash off. Resulting not so clean dishes. To counter that, u place 24pcs of dishes immediately after meal, but u do not get any saving of water & energy, u actually use alot more + additional than hand washing. Hand wash requires no electrical source. Frequent maintenance is a hassle, will break down after 3-5yrs of daily usage and requires full servicing or replacement, bcoz of instant heating requirement and it will smell bad. Cost of running will be higher. Detergent pods cost alot more than most conventional liquid dish detergent, on top of installation, energy bill, higher water bill if u wash with less than 80% load capacity. Washing takes alot longer, more clutter in the sink. With that many cons, i gave up my $1,500 dishwasher, now i have a clutter free kitchen sink and saved $$. Besides all that, dish washer cannot wash my kitchen sink and i only have 4pax at home. Dish washers is only relevant if u have a big family(6-10pax), cooks everyday, and always operates your washer in max load.
Hi. May i know where you bought the double faucet sink tap? I am also thinking of using that to link to the dishwasher instead of drilling hole through my cabinet
Thanks for sharing this content! I was just thinking about getting a dish washer for my future home, and wondering if is too costly (in terms of purchase, and monthly bills etc). This comes so timely! :) Hope to see more home content for your future content :) Just a question, would it ruin those expensive non-stick pan or knives?
After 2017 now we have the water ticks to know how much water it use, i heard people wait until it full-then they wash , don't wash only for a single plate, get freestanding is the best because you can put on a front loading washing machine
This video makes me appreciate my wife and mum even more. They had never complain about washing the dishes. They are super woman! The reason we didn't get the dishwasher for our new home was because my wife said that the dishwasher does not clean the dishes properly. If not i would have bought for her. Personally also for me once I'm done eating, i like to wash the plate immediately instead of just leaving it in the sink and waiting for more dishes to accumulated. I would prefer my kids to do the same to and not to procrastinate. Washing dishes immediately also prevent physical clutter in the kitchen and also mental clutter. The idea of going back to the dishwasher at the end of the day to clean everything makes me feel more lazy
My parents still think dishwasher is useless because we only family of three and dishwasher use more water. Not now with the dishwasher that has ticks the more the better i saw one for 700 plus for 3 ticks is quite good since so far i only saw 2. How do i attempt to made my parents getting . Dishwasher? for what i know don't us3 if its only a plate , you need to let it about 8 dishes then load it up so that you don't waste the water.
I believe this Machine would perform even better with Rinse Aid. As I’ve noticed one of the indicator lights was red. Can get the (Finish brand) Rinse Aid from Cold Storage.
We have the same exact model as you do (although I got it for only around 8000 THB here in Thailand). I wonder why would you bother to soak the dishes in water before putting them in the dishwasher though. Is there a reason behind this? Me and my girlfriend just scrape the food into the bin and then put them in the dishwasher. On average, we run it once every two days on a full "Normal" cycle. Sure, it takes around 2 hours to complete, but we run it overnight, so it's not a problem for us. By the time we wake up in the morning, all dishes will be cleaned and dried anyway. Adding to that, running the machine in "Quick" mode is not very hygienic because the water only gets heated to 40 degrees Celsius. This just defeats the purpose of having the dishwasher in the first place. "Normal" cycle will heat the water to 65 degrees Celsius which is the recommended temperature to kill dangerous bacteria by the WHO. Besides, from what I noticed in your video, your rinse-aid light is on, which means you need to refill it. Not filling rinse-aid and running a Normal cycle may result in your plates not properly dry, especially if you live in an area with hard water (like me). My only complaint with this dishwasher is that it washes pots that have baked-on food not that well for me. I tried Finish powder and Finish Powerball detergent running on intensive mode but I have not had much success with it.
In Singapore, tap water is not only treated but fully drinkable. Washing dishes at high temperatures is thus often unnecessary - unless one leaves unwashed plates around at room temperature for days? “Soaking” helps to more fully remove large food particles that will otherwise need to be cleared from the dishwasher’s filters, and avoids caking in of food stains on the dishes - hence avoiding the need for the longer dishwashing cycles.
@@simplelifesg3459 You got a couple of points wrong: 1) Bacteria I was referring to is not from water 2) Soaking the dishes mean you use more water unnecssarily You are entitled to your opinions, not your own facts.
Hello! we didnt do any after-sales maintenance till date. I think as long as we regularly maintain it (cleaning the insider, use dishwasher cleaner on a monthly/bi-monthly basis), you'll save up on servicing. :)
Hi, just got this dishwasher based on your recommendations! It's really helpful when entertaining and helps a lot with cleanup. However, anyone using this model notice a very thin layer of soap residue on the plates after washing? You can't really see it, just feel that the plates and bowls are slippery. I've also noticed that it happens more for lower quality plates such as IKEA plates whereas the more expensive porcelain ones don't have the same issue. For reference, I'm using finish powerball detergent tablets on eco wash cycle most of the time, without dishwasher salt and rinse aid. Anyone facing similar problems and what did you do to resolve it? Thanks in advance!
@Kwan Wai Leong Hi yes, I have the similar issues with mine too. Overall am please with the performance but the slight soapy texture after the washing cycle is completed does happened. Have to manually rinse one more time to get rid of it especially for milk bottles. I suspect this happens only for mid tier dishwashers. I heard higher end Bosch dishwashers doesn’t have this issue.

There is definitely a bit of sound but it doesn't really bother us to the extend that it's very very noisy. :)

Don’t call people who own dishwasher as lazy people. Call them busy people.
So busy that they’d rather watch TV while the dishwasher sprouts hot water mindlessly for 2 hours instead of 15 minutes of handwashing.

Still using it every single day!

I think regular plumber could do the job, we installed it ourselves though!
What about electricity? Won’t it consume more electricity despite saving water?
Which type of dishwasher soap are you guys using?
We use the brand called Finish ☺️
