    I recognize this rhythm from the Ghanaian music I grew up listening to🇬🇭 As it turns out a lot of West, Central and East African music uses this rhythm, typically sped up. It influenced reggae and dancehall as well. It's fascinating how music connects us 🙏🏾

    Small world. I'm deep diving on clave in pop from bed in Australia, stumble across this video and see a clip of my dance instructors from back home in the US!
    Even the Spice Girls got in on the action... Hai Si Ja, Hold tight! Clave is like the golden ratio for our ears 😅

      You can see a guy clapping the rhythm in the background. It’s the 2-3 version of the clave, not the 3-2, but the timing is no different.

    it's hoodoo (voodoo) music - "'who do' you love" is an allusion
