I'm glad you didn't cut the tough stuff out. This is what pro techs deal with day to day. Light repair things like this can be very aggravating as you've discovered. It's not pulling a diesel head or a trans to do a clutch, but it is tedious. For the sharp edges on the door, you can get some heater hose, or even garden hose, and slice it down the middle. put it over those areas where the sheet metal is biting. Just remember to take it back out again. Good video.
My door is stuck shut, won't work at all, I was able to get my door panel off, but no matter what I push and move around on the latch, the door will not open, I'm lost 😢
I figured it out, the cable internally frayed, and the plate the cable pulls was stuck , I pushed it back with a screw driver and pushed some frayed wire on the part that hooks to the inside door handle. Such a relief!!!!
