I sighed when I decided to watch this review. I expected you to tear into Titanic like so many people do. I'm glad that you were able to see the film's beauty and not just its hype. I went and paid to go see it in theaters after years of seeing it on the same screen. It was completely worth it in my opinion.
I saw Titanic in Imax 3D and it definitely gave the film extra depth. I loved it so much to watch it on the super-sized screen with the incredible surround sound that I found myself more attached to the movie than any other viewing. Most of the time I forgot that I was wearing the glasses and sometimes even forgot to blink. I absolutely loved it!
I went to the movies this afternoon to see it! And the craziest thing happened: right when kate's robe was about to fall, showing her naked to be drawn, the screen when all black! xD And well, i got mad, thinking that they were purposely doing it to censor it when its such a passionate and beautiful scene, but it turns out the projector just overheated or something. It took them like 10 minutes to fix it, but at least we got free extra movie tickets!
Kathy Bates deserved an Oscar... In fact, almost everyone in this film did!!! Truly the best film ever, 10/10!
The only Titanic movie to recreate the emotions, action and other features necessary to recreate to original voyage and sinking while engaging the audience. 10/10
Best Movie ever
Titanic really is a classic movie. The fact that all of the special effects were made in 1997 makes it even more impressive.
always a pleasure to share movie night with you Jon! Cheers!
First time I ever reviewed a movie, and I made it in. This made my sick day at home totally better. Thank you. :)
I saw it in 3D last weekend and I cried my eyes out. Such a good movie.
Glad to hear that, thanks for watching.
I went to a screening of Titanic in IMAX 3D timed almost exactly to the time of the original event... still a very impressive and moving film... but especially so last night.
You're very welcome! Thanks for watching :)
Jon. I just wanted to say congrats. You've managed to turn me on to some movies I wouldn't have thought to look into, and keep me entertained all the same time.
Great review! I love the background information you give, rather than just your opinion only.
Movie Night only airs November - May. I take the summer off, as I'm usually always busy on the weekends anyway. Most summer movies don't come out on DVD until October/November anyway, so it works out well.
Its a shame you dont have alot more viewers, your movie nights are actually the best edited and put together reviews ive seen on youtube, we can tell there was genuine effort put into them unlike some other reviewers.
I think you missed the part where I said, "three episodes", and also the part where I said "chronological order"...
Please pay attention :)
I enjoyed viewing the movie TITANIC. It moved me like anything. specially the tender
and love making scenes of Kate and DiCaprio.
Once again great reviews:) Good job Jon! Best wishes!
If you are asking me specifically... no, I can't - because I don't have any equipment to film in 3D. If you're asking in the royal sense, yes -- RUclips has the option for 3D uploads, and if I had the appropriate file, I could upload it.
Superman: I see why it created the superhero genre. Despite production issues, the acting, directing, writing, and music beautifully hide any conflict. One of my favorite films of all time. 10/10
"All it was"... haha. Dances With Wolves is an incredible movie. You take that story... and wrap it around the best visual effects in cinema history? I'm fucking sold.
I set up the new Movie Night Archive channel to squash questions like this.
While watching your clips from Titanic 2, I just increased in levels of laughing. The first shot of the CGI boat, I started to crack up.
This is one of my favorite episodes of movie night. It's very uncommon (at least I haven't seen it) where Jon gives a higher ranking then the audience. Your words for titanic couldn't describe it any better, touching upon every little scene on top of those tiny little gripes. Great movie review jon.
Great video as always, you convinced me to want to watch it again, possibly in 3D or in VHS I have in a box somewhere in my closet
When I saw this in 3D in theaters on Friday, that was the first time I'd actually seen it on the big screen. :P I've always just watched at home on VHS tapes. Watching it on the big screen made it so much better.
Well thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it.
How long does it take you to make an episode of Movie Night? I remember your livestreams for TMS were about 2 hours or so, but I was curious... Does Move Night take longer or shorter to produce? I love this series so much. Keep doing great work, Jon!
Very glad to hear that, thank you.
Thanks for submitting good ones :)
i never knew there was a titanic 2
"The guy who played Bill Paxton"... funniest shit I've heard all week dude!
In the end, it also got you to watch. Unfortunately, in an SEO-driven culture, my work does not stand on it's own merits. I have to play the game, same as everyone else. This is the most effective way to do that.
Best review of Titanic I have ever seen!
Thanks for the feedback.
When I was in the fourth grade I read the Magic Tree House book Tonight on the Titanic and became OBSESSED with titanic and read/watched anything I could get my hands on about it.
I'm not really a fan of review videos as a general rule of thumb. I only started watching these based on your back catalogue of other great uploads... However, I am now hooked on these! they are so enjoyable to watch and informative!
Have you ever seen 'Bellflower'? I'd be interested to hear your views on it...
Thanks for uploading these! keep up the good work!
Were you, up until this point, unaware of Titanic's release-year?
As soon as I saw your Yiddishe Punim I thought :
"Oh, no, is he going to ask me to make up a 10th for a Netz Shachris Minyan at 4:30am the sssslllloooooooowwwww minyan?"
I'm gonna faint... I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOU JON! You reviewed probably the movie that shaped my entire life! And you thought it was amazing too! I love Titanic... so much... and hey we both first heard of Titanic in 3rd grade! :D
Thank you for making my day. =D
Superman: To me, it is easily the best superhero movie ever made. It has great dialogue and a great supporting cast, a very enjoyable performance by Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor, great special effects that still hold up pretty well for today, and the absolutely amazing performance by Christopher Reeve as the one and only Superman! 10/10
Fascinating... honestly thought the Queen Mary was much smaller. Even still, it is trying to pose a ship that is larger, and has an additional smoke-stack.
Very nice review Jon, I've been waiting for the Titanic episode. Your video titles and thumbnails are really awkward, but I understand it's the way to make money on youtube and the reason behind most of your biggest online jogwheel hits to date.
You're very welcome, thanks for submitting!
and this is why I respect you, Jon.
Hah, I make a mistake, typo, tongue-slip, or mis-quote probably once an episode on this show. I'm far from perfect.
There's actually a bit of a running gag... that every episode of Movie Night has at least one noticeable mistake.
Superman:The Movie: A fantastic film and one of the definitive comic-book movies. With Milestone special effects, great acting by Christopher Reeve, Gene Hackman, and Margot Kidder, and a comic-book accurate storyline, this movie is a classic. 10/10
Batman: The best comic book film in my opinion. With a hauntingly dark atmosphere, crossed with believable and committed performances by Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson, it is a blast to watch. 10/10
These videos are very nice. Keep up the good work.
It takes about 7-10 hours to write, film, and edit each episode. Not counting the time to watch the movies every week.
Again, hence my confusion: I eloquated myself perfectly... no real excuse for anyone to correct me on such a ridiculous point like, "did you know it was a real ship?".
Thanks for watching!
I'm sure plenty of films in my "Best Ever" two-part series would have scored a double-10, but given the nature of those uploads, I didn't include the rate-o-matic.
I guess I need to come up with something to air during the summer months then, huh?
You're very welcome and yes I am rewatching this because I'll always watch Titanic whenever it's on! EVEN AT MIDNIGHT!
I've heard this a few dozens before... not sure why so many hate talking about movies... isn't that the entire point of art? To discuss it with others?
Anyway... no, I haven't seen Bellflower.
Going to see Titanic 3D This weekend! Really looking forward to it after your review =)
Considering that for the movie, they built a 90% scale replica, the cost similarity actually makes a lot of sense to me now.
Most men won't admit it, but we all enjoy that song.
No one involved with the tragedy is alive anymore. It's fair-game. No one is being "disrespectful", we're just making jokes. Please, get a sense of humor.
Batman: Amazing superhero film. Great sets, atmosphere and acting. Michael Keaton delivers a believable performance as both Bruce Wayne and Batman. Jack Nicholson as The Joker is simply unforgettable. Not a perfect movie but a fantastic experience. 9/10
I'm not sure I understand your question, but I'll answer best I can...
I read all the comments, and examine the poll results to come up with the audience's average rating, in this case, a 9/10 for Titanic. Then, I find the best-written reviews from the comments to reinforce this rating. If the audience gave the movie a 9, I'm not going to only show the three people who gave it a 4/10, for example.
But, as seen here, I'll highlight a range of comments, from 6/10 to 10/10.
Please don't confuse pride for arrogance. I'm proud of my work. And until someone shows me a show with more views, or better production values, I think it's safe to say (ego aside) that Movie Night is the #1 interactive movie review on RUclips.
That's not a pun. That was her actual nickname. She's a famous person in real life.
*me at beginning*: YEAH! TITANIC!
* after 2 seconds* : Wait. There was a second one?
Here's a question: Locked in a room and you cannot leave until you watch either Millenium, Jack and Jill, or Titanic 2, what do you do John?
thankyou for the review of Titanic. Not my cup of tea at first but it is an amazing movie when you watch it when you are older
Three stoogages: really funny and enjoyable for the whole family. The story line is a little weird but anyone that loved the old three stoogages will love this one. 7/10
I always love movie night. It has an intimate charm no other movie review show has.
X-Men: I can see why this lead to the modern day comic book movies. I loved every minute of it and the action was amazing. An awesome movie that lead to the beginning of an awesome saga. 9/10
You couldn't possibly have thought that was real.
No, I understand what he was suggesting -- I'm just entirely perplexed by such a statement, as I refer to, and mention the actual shipwreck numerous times in this video.
Batman - Burton's dark imagery perfectly blends with Elfman's incredible score to create an exciting and atmospheric film. Jack Nicholson's performance as the Joker also makes for one of the best movie villains ever. 9/10
X-Men - Despite being a newcomer to the X-Men franchise, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Huh Jackman and the rest of the cast are all great in their roles and the comic-book style action will easily entertain anyone. 7/10
It's the #1 review show on RUclips :)
Batman: A classic, my favourite Tim Burton movie. He managed to put the comic book batman onto the screen and made people forget about the Adam West Batman. 8/10
I'm happy i have seen the titanic in 3d for the centinial anniversary. I'm hapy about that :) however my boyfriend cried and HE was the one singing to "my heart will go on". He is adorable hahaha.
Batman: A great classic with a very good plot. Loved Keaton's portrayal of Batman. 9/10
I have to say, I like to think of this as the modern Siskel and Ebert in a sense. Whatever happened to the good movie review shows on TV?
Nonetheless, Jon, you put a lot of effort into these, and it shows. I'm subscribing.
im so glad you gave titanic a great review, its my favorite movie :)
Thank you kindly!
You're absolutely right...I think it's just due to most film reviews being a one sided "I think this/ this is/ you should/" style...
You're reviews are much more relaxed and involved and generate discussion, that's why I like them.
+ you should try given bellflower a watch.
That Titanic ll looks crap... Bad camera work, even worse actors & its only 90 mins long??? Cant be that good.
James Cameron did an amazing job on his movie... Actors Leonardo Dicaprio (FIT AS) & Kate Winslet (REALLY PRETTY) were brilliant in it. A lot of hard work was put into Titanic♡

While I appreciate the praise... had you really not heard of "Titanic" until I reviewed it just now?
X-Men: Even though many of the characters lack development, a cool story, great effects, and thrilling action make this movie X-cellent, 8/10
Batman: Michael Keaton captures the lighter side of Bruce Wayne while Nicholson has fun as the joker. Very enjoyable. One of my favorite movies as a kid. 8/10
btw, a few more factoids about the movie, James Cameron himself did all of Jack's drawings, The movie supposedly holds a guiness record (or at least once did) for most stunt people used in a movie. Kate Winslet has said she will never work for James Cameron again because among other reason, she caught pneumonia from being in the freezing cold water.
btw, I didn't even know there was a titanic II
Batman's exciting action, strong acting, and well-structured plot make it a classic movie. 9/10
Haha, absolutely! Pay attention, it makes me much happier :)
The best rendition of the sinking of the Titanic is "A Night to Remember"
Famous Irish band Galiec Storm, was the band in coach.
We had a new episode last week, actually.
I just loved the musicians on the titanic, somehow I always found them the strongest characters.
Batman, fantastic use of effects, excitement and action. Keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering what happens next, however begins to drag. 9/10
Inception is a sequel to Titanic. At the end of Titanic, Leonardo DiCaprio sinks, but in the beginning of inception, he washes up on the shore.
I have. Mainly what I was referring to was things such as Super 8, or the movies that just never got enough praise.
Superman: Cheesy at times, surprisingly dramatic at others, this movie is still a ton of fun, despite it's inconsistencies. 8/10
X-Men: A lot of fun if you're a fan of the comics, but sometimes too hard to follow if you're not. 7/10
X-men awesome Jackman plays wolverine so good playing an anti-hero really suits Jackman, and amazing effects only let down was some of the one liners. 8/10
Wow... that's pretty harsh. What's wrong with my video? I spent a lot of time on it...
Opinions: everyone has them. If you're able to confidently say you don't like the movie on it's own merits, than that's fine.
But the movie is a spectacle... and I simply don't believe anyone could watch this movie, and not be entertained at least once.
