I do the exact same thing but I'd recommend you add some arm and hammer baking soda while scrubbing with the dawn, the baking soda removes stains, kills odor like crazy.. trust me.

Dear Paul- thanks a million times for this tutorial. I totally cleaned and re-molded my limited edition KTZ NewEar snapback with your rice cooker and hairspray advice- it looks freaking amazing. You're the best! big gratis from a NY girl in Hong Kong
if the hat is made of wool, you shouldn't wash it with hot water, it will shrink. check the label before you wash it. i use Kiwi Suede and Nubuck cleaner on my wool caps.

your video is excellent...i had a rice cooker pot and a regular pot...i used both...so far i restored an angels hat bought in 2009 to original condition and a ny giants hat from 2011 to the original condition also...couldn't believe it...2 down 22 more hats to go !!!

Can you use spray starch or magic sizing instead of hair spray? Because no one in my house uses it and I'm not buying a can just to fix my hat.

Amazon carries a hat stiffening spray , especially for this , not expensive at all
Use Oxy Tide bro. My Manager bro at walgreens put me on it.It was 1 bottle left & 7 reg tides left. I don't know what happen but all the dirt "fell out my hard to clean nikes I let soak a day. Let caps soak a few hours now they're back new.now looking for a way to make older caps crisp.

I use fabric spray starch instead of the hair spray. Caps are after all, made of fabric.
Question: Why not wash caps in a laundry machine? I ask because I have a large quantity of hats to restore, but would like to clean more than 1 at a time. Doing one at a time seems time consuming. Is there a reason why you don't?
Hey man. If you wash you hats in a machine, you risk messing them up! the washing machine throws them around and may result in messed up brims, or bleeding. I posted a video with another method of reshaping hats, give it a watch!

Ive found that using starch instead of hair spray works a lil better, and doesn't give it the hair spray smell aswell. Hair spray works fine though!

try spraying the yellowed out sweat band with 50% water and 50% hydrogen peroxide. then put it out in the sun. if its not perfect white after that repeat the process daily. eventually it will be just as white as b brand new hat! Also spray starch works well for the forming. thanks for the tips! never thought of the rice cooker idea.

Honestly Paul you know you can throw hats in the washer too 😂😂 as long as you don't wash it too many times usually after you put it in the washer once it should clean it as well and then add something inside the hat like you showed us to get its form and to get rid of the wrinkles
